Abandoned Italian Renaissance Palace From A Tobacco Tycoon | BROS OF DECAY - URBEX
I noticed that someone here would want to know more about this beautiful place. I made my research and I think I'm pretty sure to know where is this place is. I also found some information that someone might find interesting. I will not reveal where this place is located but I'll give you some indications: it's not far from Turin, in the Piemonte region of Italy. The palace was originally built as a castle in the XVII century and was later modified and restored as a villa in the XIX century. The building, the entire household (of 1.000 square meters) and the 70.000 square meters park are on sale at the time I am writing this comment. The place is registered as a "luxury and historic" asset in the Italian register of the real estate assets, so obtaining permits for restoring it might be a nightmare and it would cost a fortune. It really is a shame, but these things may happen: families' richness may fall, and the cost of the mainteinance of a place like this (as well as the taxes) is extremely high. Anyways, if a real estate investment fund acquired this and made this into an hotel, it would make a great service to the history and the cultural heritage of my beautiful country.
Maledette leggi italiane 😠😡😤😤😤
Thanks for the interesting information. I hope a suitably caring buyer restores it for future generations.
I’ve been researching property purchases in Italy. I have been told property tax can fluctuate wildly. Say one year it could be 3% while another year it could be 40%. Have you experienced this?
As far as this property, how much $ are they asking?
@@tedcarl5382 property taxes generally depend on a number of factors: category of the property (e.g. it might be listed as commercial or residential and in either cases you have sub categories which may affect the property tax), municipality where the property is located (some have higher taxes than others), number of properties owned and other issues. It is true that if one of the regulations affecting the calculation of the taxes changes you might have some fluctuation, but I'd not say that there is much of a variation from year to year. In any case, before purchasing a property in Italy I would strongly suggest to approach a good notary public and/or tax consultant beforehead.

This man has an amazing voice. I find it as beautiful as this palace.
I agreeee
He must be Greek or Russian
I think he's French.
@Jennifer Linder I totally & completely agree with you.
@@pennsylvaniapatti1835 isn’t he from Belgium? He mentioned he’s near the Netherlands in another video. One from the Giovanni Mansion.
It needs to be restored and preserved. Such architecture is no longer created. What a shame that this isn't being saved by the government.
the governments in the last decade only cut and cut fund for saving arts and heritage of the past.Italy have the most Arts Piece of the world, still we do so poor in preserving them.
Italy is full of buildings like this one, and even more beautiful. But there's no money to fix them. THere are some stunning archaeological sites that are going to ruin because of this.
What? With tax payer money? How is that fair?
I don't know what country you're posting from, but here in Canada, our government has tried to delete every single bit of European heritage from our history since the 1960's. That includes architecture. That's why all our government buildings are hideous modern monstrosities with no roots anywhere.
@Roman City Yeah, but rich people are scum. They could fix so many things and save so many lives but they don't care. They are going to hell.
Whomever designed that place was a true artist.
I agree
Yah
Agreed
The most gripping part for me was the staircase. I literally wanted to weep for them, they were both beautiful and abandoned. Thanks so much for sharing!
I am curious why the Italian government does not take pride in these amazing historic buildings, and use them for weddings, and Venues for business.. what a shame.
Beautiful place!
2nd highest debt in the EU.
Deeds K mentality my dear, it is just our mentality...we lack of collaboration between people, supporting each other, gathering...these are thinks way more powerful than moneys
Deeds K also, in my opinion, our true elegance, aristocracy, crafting skills, ecc. are now just a little percentage of what people believe to be something to be proud of...most are just “standard” people who go to a standard workplace, have no interest in discovering what have made his native nation so strong and acclaimed, and worst part, point his finger against who is rich, who want to be an artist etc....then comes the Government of course
Deeds K unfortunately people just fool themselves with television and banners
There are thousands of similar buildings in Italy, the government could just not pay for all :(
Can you imagine how beautiful it must have been when it was new and lived in.
I have watched this video at least 50 times since I found it a year ago. I dream about this villa and I LOVE it so much. Thank you for getting us in a place we never could have imagined otherwise. I was in Turin on an Italian vacation in 2004 and it makes me sick that I possibly could have seen this place at least from the outside. Darn it!
Thank you for showing us a truly stunning mansion ..... Ceilings, walls and the last room with the stunning walls, ceiling and fireplace with just lovely decorative working .......... Italy is a beautiful country with so much beauty, beautiful buildings and interiors ❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻
No graffiti!! Amazing!!
If the man next door have dogs, they might think again, I dont think it is small dogs so it could end bad for the 'artists'.................................................and why ruin a home in decay......
@@jannesmedegaard7858 Most graffiti 'artists' would see the beauty in this palace, I think. Or, I hope so. Italy's larger abandoned buildings seem to be free from vandalism overall, at least those that I've seen urbexed on youtube!
@@basstrammel1322 That is because italians understand and respect their patrimony; They know that when it comes to architecture and history of art, their country is the richer in the world;

What a beautiful place! But so sad to see it in that state. Thank you for taking us along with you!
Hello, Brothers! Thank you for bringing us along to this BEAUTIFUL Castle!! My whole family and I enjoy your videos, the photography, the detail, and also the kind respect that you show these breathtaking properties! The information that you give us about these properties is just so wonderful!
Such a beautiful place. One can only imagine how magical it must have been. Thank you for sharing.
The Italians were true masters of beauty. It could be restored if someone with money wanted to.
j L You need also money to keep it active and open to public from year to year... 😔
You’d charge an entrance fee which would go towards its upkeep. That’s how most historic buildings work.
@@NailHeavenAshford I'd love to see it become a 'living museum', where local history buffs cdvolunteer, dress in period costume and bring it to life with tea parties, piano and violin music. Tickets to balls, etc. could generate quite a bit of income, while walk thru tours cd be more basic ticket price.
We have to encourage Bill Gates to buy this mansion
Money, (or lack thereof) stops a lot of things from happening!
Oh man I almost wet myself lol. I can only dream of wat it's like to actually be inside, walking from room to room in a Magnificent, Breathtaking place like this. I bet it smells wonderful, old, a couple hundred yrs. worth of old.........like history. I just don't understand how places like this can be left to rot away, never ever to be thought of or seen again. It hurts my heart to think of it. We'll regret letting these places go someday, but of course, it'll be to late then. Thank u so much sharing this Magnificent Breathtaking place.
"junk~junkie"
Thank you for sharing, what a dream come true to be able to walk among the rich and see the way they use to live. What an exquisite palace! What detail is shown here of the craftsmanship that went on, remarkable!
Yes its beautiful my fathers family from bologna later some left, i must say this is not a castle but it is much more beautiful in design then the plain Bentivoglio castle. It is beautiful!!!
I often wonder how many people also suffered as workers to these people who owned such places.
We tend to romance this places forgetting how others lived to serve although paid but still much as slaves barely making it, suffering cold weather and still work.
The lift to bring food up from the kitchen is called a dumbwaiter. Such a cool place, thank you!
Rhonda Beigert, I was thinking that and then I thought nah, can't be. Thanks.
You are correct. I've always wondered why they named it that. A 'dumbwaiter.'. Hmmm.
Dumbwaiter is Cockney rhyming slang. Dumbwaiter/elevator.
Yeah. I love those old dumb waiters, they have them a lot in old Civil War houses as well. I knew someone who had an old dumb waiter in their house and on the property a “ summer kitchen “ .. cool stuff .
Ian McMurtrie The term 'dumbwaiter' came to be as the lift was first used in large houses that had their kitchens and household staff in the basements or the ‘servants quarters’. These servants would use the lift to take food and dishes upstairs to the dining room and back down again as the go-between from kitchen to restaurant, allowing noise and cooking odour to be isolated from the patrons. The origins of the term are simply that this lift was a way of having your own silent waiter, not seen and not heard.
This palace was exquisite! All of the beautiful deco was magnificent! I could see it being restored as it wasn't very badly damaged! Great find, thank you!👍🏼😃🔮ɱყʂɬıƈąƖɱơơŋ🌙
If I win the LOTO with many millions, we will restore it!!!!!
imagine all the balls that were probably held there
💕Please make a bedtime story book so I can listen to your voice and fall asleep lol it's so comforting 💕
Great idea!
Just magnificent! I cant imagine how many artists that came from who knows where and how many years it took them to design and paint this palace alone.
Thank you for another adventure thru history and being such a great narrator for you always do your trips justice and I feel that I had just walked thru someone's home with you.
Thank you again!
I found myself saying “wow” again and again. Such a magnificent palace.

Thankyou for sharing this visit to an old & beautiful place. Truely a palace.
Leslie, I am so glad you do not know the facts and make your own story. You have a beautiful imagination and is probably better than the facts. I especially liked when you put 2 chairs in the room to read books and smoke cigars :) You are a special one and thanks for making the video with William to share with us.

Wow beautiful castle! Such intricate details! Shame that it's been abandoned! Thank you for sharing this with us! 😚💕💕
Marla Mitchell so true. The junk built today isn't architecture. They all look the same and something a child would draw.
It’s magnificent. A wonderful and magical place, I would imagine how awesome it must have been in it’s original state and glory. This is beautiful, the intricate detail is so exquisite.

OMG...what a beautiful, ornate home/ palace/ castle, and what a pity to let it crumble over time, and sad that the wood floors are gone! I wonder if the executor of the estate is stripping it out to pay debts/ taxes, or whatever? I can only imagine what that lifestyle would be like. Bros of Decay...your work is GREAT-videography, commentary and all...allows all of us fans to be there with you both!!!!

Awesome Palace. Wish they will make places like that today. Thanks for sharing.
No doubt an Ancient beauty. A place of fairytale like dreams. If I had more means I would purchase the castle and acres of land surrounding it. Such a beautiful place. The music playing also help with feeling the energy of this ancient art. Now a ruin... 😟😓
Love the way you guys treat the old buildings with respect. Keep up the good work. Greetings from South Africa
Thank you for the conversions. As an American, I always appreciate the extra effort.

Francette Schulz I agree they are the BEST....
I really like your presentation style, and the choice of background music. You have an educated yet sentimental viewpoint, showing conciousness and respect of the intimacy of a family environment here in this palace. The music enhances this effect. And you choose the most fantastic locations that showcase the the beauty of European life through the ages, in the leavings of daily family life. Thank you, from this American, for your work! It is wonderful.
Incredible. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks Karen!
Lesley, you are so correct. Imagine calling such a place home. It must have been gorgeous back in the day. So glad not to find graffiti.
You so obviously appreciate the uniqueness, beauty and history of every place you visit... Excellent video as always, Lesley and I think I saw William.
You forgot to go back a film the chapel.
Another great video, thank you
Yup. I was about to say same.
Me too!
I know I wished they would have. Shoot 😣
I was thinking the same thing.
Would’ve been nice to see it . Maybe the time got the better of them and they didn’t want to set off the neighbors dogs .
Thank you for sharing - it's BEAUTIFUL!!!
Awesome find and awesome beautiful place... Thank you for your explore..👍👍🇲🇨
This was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous!! I could a huge ball taking place and a young woman in a long beautiful ball gown coming down that stairway. Lights shining down on all the guests women in beautiful gowns , tall handsome men in their tux taking a lady on his arm making their way to the dance floor for a waltz around the room. I bet that was THE place to be once upon a time. AWESOME place as usual, you guys never disappoint me. Keep up the great work, stay safe and God bless you all 😍😍😘😘
Kinda gives you that fairytale vibe in Cinderella animation. going to the Ball all prim proper suited booted lads, with beautiful women suitors. Then that song "so this is love" playing in the background as the Prince and his girl dance.
Proof that being the richest person in the graveyard doesn’t get you much

I’m am amazed by how beautiful it still is but it also breaks my heart that it’s been abandoned. It’s so beautiful. I love to see how people used their hands to make this.
Yes indeed! A magnificent voice. I listen to it every night to fall asleep. Not meaning that it's boring, it is very soothing and relaxing.
There is such a contrast between many abandoned places in Europe and other places like America and other western countries in relation to graffiti. This Palace is seemingly free of graffiti. A testiment to the people, especially the bored youth from the area. Very cool.
Thank you for showing us this beautiful building.
I was also admiring the absence of graffiti. Refreshing that it is untouched for future people to enjoy, while it lasts. I think he said that local people keep an eye on it so that people don't damage it.
Pretty sure the ancient Romans invented graffiti, but let's not generalise 🙄
What a magnificent and magical place. Thanks for the awesome explore, what an amazing adventure.
It’s like stepping back into the time of the Renaissance.
Have you been to Ireland or Scotland...?? Love to see

There were so many wonderful things to see that my mind was in heavenly chaos ! Well put together and the commentary was a nice surprise too. Knowing your subject, and truly being interested in it makes a universe of difference. The vaulted ceilings.....sweet mother of gods !! Gorgeous ! The master craftsmanship throughout this palace was quite simply gobsmacking ! Terribly upsetting to see the parquetry floors removed, they would've been to utterly die for 😍.
Thanks for showing us this absolute gem💛
Awesome so nice thanks😊
My dad's family are from Italy and we have family, of course still there. A cousin of mine goes back every Spring as he has Italian family on both sides and so he visits them all, and is very lucky to have that opportunity as one of the families, has allowed him to have the top floor to live every time he and family comes there to visit. We could too but I am not able to go, but it would be such a nice help to have a place to stay. A top floor of family home! They do this in Italy , often.
This would have been such a magnificent way to live, for those who had this chance to lie in this home. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to see it on You Tube. Your excitement and love of seeing these castles , is so infectious!
