The thing is you would have to convince parents to show their kids this in the first place and that it is better then PJ's trilogy which seems fairly unlikely.

Modernizing fantasy worlds does not always work alas too many modernized adaptions fail and are forgotten. There are times that a good story is far better than a modernized version of realms of lore. As a Storyteller i know respecting the lore is important.
As an author, I know that lore-changes for the good of an adaptation are also needed.

@@Delogros What do you want them to do? There is so little to work off of. Even if they had the rights to the Unfinished Tales, they'd still have to make many original characaters just to make it a complete story. I don't know what y'all were expecting.
@Roger Melly the lore changes Peter Jackson made were nearly all not needed. Leaving the shire fast, sure, but the Elves coming to Helms Deep and Haldir dying? They was an awful choice by PJ, when he could have easily used the Grey Company. The Witch King breaking Gandalfs staff? Awful.
Aragorn, Boromir and Farmir having beards? Awful.
Turning Denethor into a psychotic crazy person? Awful.
The fact of the matter is, Rings of Power's lore changes have been no more egregious than Peter Jackson's, and as it is an adaption *based* on the works of Tolkien, I don't see why it matter really.

If they have so little to work off staying true to that little bit you have becomes more important not less.

The best part of the trailer was when Frodo Skywalker used her airbending to blast Scar off the cliff before exclaiming "This is Tamriel!"
My favorite part was when Terminator Galdriel drew her sword and told the Hobbits "GET TO THE CHOPPA" !

Good god i hope this bombs awfully, I'm paraphrasing but they basically just said: "revolution against tolkiens work, which will have a huge reach because of its IP, which we can make look like the modern world and give full representation and diversity in-spite of tolkiens design"

Amazon has a lovely diversity clause. I believe it’s roughly 30% of speaking roles go to woman or some variant of “marginalized.” Meaning, minimal white men.

Tolkien is already timeless, there is no need for this, it will most likely backfire.
People still read the books to this day, and people still watch the PJ trilogy 20+ years later.
It's got modern Politics in it so it good for maybe half a decade to a decade for a minority of the population... Sometimes people can smell their own farts and think it's roses.

Where did this idea come from that you have to be the same colour as a character to relate to them? Germany, 1940?
I don't want my fantasy stories reflecting our world today and modern sensibilities. It's not necessary "obviously" since it's fantasy those things should not be the main focus it should be world building and characters, yes politics but not the forced bullshit politics we have.
You're going to learn the hard way that you don't treat fans like that and produce crap like that. there are no black dwarves and no black elves in Tolkien's works. Nor is there a warrior Galadriel with a sword. And no black hobbits either...did they all die out after the Second Age or what?

I know, it is really a very sad situation, she has also been lying in various interviews though whether that's on purpose or just plain ignorance I am not sure.
Yeah she's the only one in the cast from what I can tell that is really possessed with these ideas. Everyone else seems to just dance around it or say it indirectly like its a talking point given to them to producers, some even look visibly uncomfortable when she starts going off about how she finds movies with white people "inaccessible".
if having your specific physical attributes depicted in a given work is required for you to to appreciate it, then you _do not_ appreciate that work… you only appreciate yourself.

All states need to allow that basic courtesy. Same for banning gay representation in film. Scared that it might make some kids more tolerant when they're older. Who the f are you? The people who actually OWN THE IP, Tolkien's own family, are producing the show and involved in it and totally allowed them to put lord of the rings on it! When you pay 250 million, you get to do that. Like when Tolkien himself sold the rights to books in his life time and when given choice between keeping veto power over adaptations and getting less money or giving up all veto power but with more money, Tolkien conveniently chose the second option. That's how they can make lord of the rings shadows of Mordor games without giving a shit about tolkiens family. So grow up!
They could just make their own movie without trying to intentionally ruin Tolkiens work, but we know there is something far more sinister at work behind this.

I understand the diversity casting, and I believe Tolkien would love that, because the races uniting to fight their common foe is a premise Tolkien is all about.
However, the fact that Amazon is trying to make ROP woke is hilarious, because they are doing a horrible job. Take Galadriel for example. Galadriel was my favorite character in the Silmarillion/Appendices, Galadriel is so powerful that she's like a one-woman army, and she's also extremely wise and charismatic. She’s kind of the elven equivalent of Gandalf.
However, the Amazon writers have turned her into having nothing but traits of toxic masculinity, and has made her a self-absorbed Karen who doesn't care about anyone except herself. It's as if Tolkien can write a powerful female character who empowers women better than a modern day feminist...So ironically funny 🤣
The hubris of Nomvete to believe she is "revolutionizing" the works of Tolkien simply because she is in it. Her woke cringe cup overfloweth.

Ok that's it, I am in love with this cast now! Of course I don't know them, but each one of them exudes kindness in their own way which is admirable. If I was in their shoes, I'd feel rather closed off due to the amount of blind hate that has been seen on the internet revolving around this show. You can see the passion they have for their work which makes me even more excited for when this series premieres. I cannot wait to explore Middle Earth again with them.

Also it's not blind at all, the issues people have with this has been very clearly articulated by many differn't people many times which suggests to me your the one who is intentionally blind and deaf as you might not agree with those arguments but you should at least understand the vast majority are perfectly reasonable.
