Yeah I just checked with my bank, they say that Guitar Hero game got me a good check, so no worries man, where were we?" Relieved, I finally decide to reveal my favour: "Ok Lars, I know this might sound a little weird, but can you please send me a master track for one of your songs? Just name the price." After two unnerving weeks of waiting and checking my email, I finally receive all the multitrack files and oh my god the quality of that was amazing, some of the best I've ever heard! Whether the master tracks were lost or not, they haven’t been released or made available in any way... so this is him playing. The only real way other master tracks became available is through Guitar Hero games (GH3 and GH Metallica) This song was never included in any of those games.
Listening to this really makes me appreciate James Hetfields riffs. Especially that riff at 1:56. So heavy and chuggy. I could headbang for hours just listening to that riff

I can’t play this stuff anymore cause my arm is outta shape. And I believe I didn’t even record this in one take cause the rhythm during the solo was just too long for my stamina
The tone is spot on, and the riffing is very similar, but i guessed this was not the original track. It's got some noise going on between the pauses, and in the old albums, these sounds are pretty much removed for tightness. But well, it is also really tight and precise, and like i said, the tone is just... Man, you nailed it. It sounds rather like the tone in Disposable Heroes tho
I have been listening to this for months and always assumed it was James playing on Kirk's guitar because of the slight tone difference. (apparently they recorded one side on James' V and the other with Kirk's guitar) Never knew it was a recreation until I read the comments and description. Great job 👍

God damn I wish I could play tight like this, I struggle so much to keep my 16th notes consistent, I end up syncopating subconsciously cuz my up strokes are so weak
I think I was using the Seymour duncan Invader pickup. The output is really high, although when I switched it to another guitar it stopped sounding good at all, and became too fat and muddy. So if you want to get that kind of tone with the Invader it might be good to lower the bass before the preamp.

Glad you liked it. That tone was a pain to get because it was mainly based on the eq after recording. For recording i used Amt R2 and some marshall impulses. I’m working on a new sound right now, so maybe soon I will record other songs. And yeah, I didn’t know the song too well at the time.. so there are many mistakes :-D
Malcolm Kyeremeh it was a little off, but now I know this song about 99,9% accurate. At the time of recording this I didn’t hear rough mixes which are without vocals, so I went mostly by ear and a little bit of tabs

@@nikolayjovanovic423 Unfortunately I can't tell you for sure as I lost the orignal project with all the settings, but roughly all I did was bump high mids around 2000-3500Hz dropped mids a little and added in lower mids aroud 200-300Hz. Also I cut away a lot of treble. The main thing is to get high mids right.

By the way the guitars are panned, the tail end of the verse riff is played wrong so is the intro. Also you can here background string noise which is not present in the album because removing made it tighter

This is really good! I've heard they would tune their guitars down and play just a tad slower, and then speed up the recording, to help with tightness
I know they did it on Ride the Lightning, that's why the tuning on some songs is higher than standard.
