They get way too hung up on skill. Being able to play really fast is cool and all but if you can't write a good song it doesn't mean much. I think they assume just because a song is fast people can't enjoy it for other reasons.
Funny that they love The Thing That Should Not Be and hate this song. The first time I listed to this album, I thought TTTSNB was long and boring and repetitive, and killed the adrenaline...and Danage Inc was my 3rd favorite track on the album.
Thrash is kind of like sex. Sometimes you want it slow, sometimes rythmic, and usually it's best when it's a mix-up. The fast paced part is the fast animalistic pounding type, lol
That bass intro! The whole Orion bass influenced melodies and patterns. RIP to Cliff Burton! This whole album is Cliff's swan song. We lost him too soon.

BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM BLT BLT BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! By this point I was fully awake lol.
The crazy part is that nearly 40 years later, they still shred this song live! It's insane that they started the year I was born, and they still kill every song!
For me as a non-musician, good thrash raises this internal urge of agression and to express that urge by thrashing about in a mosh pit/embracing destruction. Thrash is almost an anti groove and is this primal, deep feeling of chaos...to let go and be.
@@brettanomyces7077There definitely is a lot of rhythm to Metallica's stuff, but when they really speed it up it still does sound frenzied and chaotic... to the point that normies (like the reactors here) get uncomfortable. Me personally, I tend to find thrash as far as I am willing to go... the Death/black metal bands are so over the top it just gets annoying to me.
actually to be disappoint. likely not. every time i meet a 20-30 something "metal head" or at least hear them listening to modern metal bands, i go up and ask them, hey that sounds good, sounds like Death a bit yeah? And they don't know who the fk that is. Then i play it for them and they are like, oh wow, yeah there's definitely a resemblance. what is awesome is that we lived like 4 great eras of music, no matter the genre, and can still appreciate new stuff because some of it is - literally unbeknownst to the younger generations, a harkening to roots that are exceptionally old at this point. For instance i remember being like 11 in 1981, and hanging out with my grandfather, he was listening to 30's 40's music, in 1981. There was no music in any popular to semi popular fashion 40 years later in 1981 Huge gap. You could say that dude was cvlt as fk >D But since the late 70's to 2024, metal is just metal. All kinds of metal, things not even metal associated with metal and bands like Celtic Frost (sic) (rip) literally selling more tickets than they did 40 years ago. pretty insane actually.
This song is a destruction, is like the calm before the storm, is like march in to death. The whole album is crazy, is pure gold thrash metal. Nothing comes close to it even today
This is one of a number of songs in the Metallica library that is really more of a “live” song. I personally don’t choose to listen to this on my headphones or stereo, but saw them play it live and THAT is when you realize what this song is meant for. I think you guys don’t need to worry about not liking it. Get yourself some Metallica tickets, and even if they don’t play this, the energy of their show will help you understand and appreciate it- even if it’s not playlist material.
A lot of people aren't crazy about Damage Inc., some even saying is a lesser version of Disposable Heroes - but as a guitarist, it's one of my favorite tracks to play. The energy of it is unmatched, and the breakdown took me a while to really get down with the picking (this is going back 30 years!). So I understand you guys not being hot on it, but for me, it's a top track.
Musically it's great, but James' vocals still sound weak and strained at times.... Moreso than anything on Ride the Lightning, strangely enough. I wonder if he strained his voice during the recording session. Fortunately, his voice matured and deepened by AJFA, and his vocals on AJFA are consistently on the money.
@@halofour01 Some stuff definitely - but this one is more alternate picking so not so bad. It was definitely easier as a 20 something then now a 50 something.
I love how you mimicked James’ vocal cadence so perfectly. That sick breakdown riff you love was written by Kirk, and you’re correct. He’s no joke. Also, the intro was done by Cliff on bass. You wanna hear some cool shit? Check out “High Plains Drifter” from his solo EP.
Thanka for doing the whole album Vegas bros! They still do this type of thrash better than almost anyone, and the fact that not all of their songs are thus fast lends to their dynamic sound throughout the album. It's more than just being musically skilled, it's invigorating and has a lot of groove once you hear stuff this tempo more often.
I’ve been listening to this album since it came out and Damage Inc to me, was always one of the highlights. I know you guys like groove and hook and so do I, but I believe songs like this just have a different hook that isn’t always perceptible upon first listen. Often it takes a few listens for that hook to sink in, but it’s there. If I were you guys I’d let it lie for a bit and then listen to it again a couple times and it might just grab you. This album is truly a masterpiece front to back.
agreed. this song has groove for days but you do need to have an attuned ear for it and these guys didnt grow up with this music so I get it that doesnt hit the same way for them.
I think Kirk is so good, as is the rest of the band, you just accept his greatness and don't even need to acknowledge it. It's just a given. Another way to put it is saying chocolate is sweet. No one needs to tell you so. It's just known and accepted!
This is my favorite. So you're probably gonna hate it. 😂 You're right, there's nothing cool about this song... because it's red hot straight out of the Metal furnace.
@@hornyconvictit's not that deep. Even though they've listened to a lot of metal, they still look for the same things in every song: groove and melodic vocals. They haven't really changed at all.

I always enjoy your pure, genuine and unbiased reactions. BTW, FYI, MOP album was preserved into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry back in 2016, making this masterpiece a certified...........masterpiece.
I think they wrote this song to identify "the groovers from the shakers." This is one of their hardest songs and it's a nod to their punk heritage. It's one of my favorites and I'm not surprised it's not one of y'alls.
Guys, knowing your taste (not liking this song or Battery that much), I am not going to suggest you to listen the remaining songs of Ride the lightning album (3 done, 5 to go), but I think that you would really enjoy the title track - Ride the lightning - great riffing and epic solo, give it a try :) Overal, I find RTL equally good as MOP, both 7 out of 8 songs for me :)
You definitely know it's Kirk when you hear him play, mostly because he's apparently got the wah peddle transplanted on his foot lol. But top 10? Na man, he's definitely a excellent guitarist but I'd give him somewhere in top 50, especially last few albums weren't very good and he still uses that peddle obsessively, love the guy but there are such better guitarists out there
I appreciate you being so honest with your opinion of the song. A lot of other reaction channels will be like "that was sick!!!!!!!!!" even though you can tell that they didn't really like the song, but you are keeping it real man. It goes back to what you've said in some of your other videos; even if you don't like something but can tell that it is done to the utmost peak of the creators' abilities, then it's fire.
I feel like the stuff that you guys love about Metallica is why they are at the very top. Their arrangements, their skill level...it all comes together to a perfect peak. There are plenty of bands that go faster or louder or more technical or any of that. No one has ever put just enough together in just the right way to reach the audience the way Metallica has.
I have never seen anyone in my life besides Dimebag Darrell that looked so comfortable and effortless playing guitar. Check out Kirk playing live and you will see what i mean. Dime too
this song changed my life after the first listening..... i just stopped listening to the black album and just started consuming this beast as well as old Metallica but this song ripped my head off. love it.
If you want mid tempo Metallica and awesome riffsI think it's time for some Load/Reload stuff guys. Ain't my bitch, Bleeding Me, Outlaw Torn, Fuel, The Memory Remains, King Nothing, Until it Sleeps, all are awesome songs that I am sure you will enjoy. Also, I think you will enjoy I Dissappear from the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack.
This is not a song I'd reach out for in the age of streaming, or even one I'd skip to on a CD, but it's worth remembering that when this was released EVERYONE was used to listening to albums start to finish and a song like this plays a specific role in the composition of the album as a whole. This is not a great single, but it's a great album finisher. It's far better in context of the other songs on the album.
That solo still melts my face even after hearing it so many times, one thing is to be able to play it (cover it) but imagine you have to write that! .. Kirk was eary 20 when he wrote these solos!! .. Not only are the solo wicked fast but it flows so well .. the amount of notes or sec are mindblowing! Glad I had the chance to shake his hand and thank him for his music \m/
Master of puppets is an eight out of eight. I don't understand not liking damage incorporated but liking battery. They are two thrashy songs that start/end the album.
We need some Load/Reload era reactions. Bleeding Me. King Nothing. Hero Of The Day. Memory Remains. All great groovy songs. Hear me now believe me later, you guys will definitely dig.
I stan for Load endlessly, but Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn are massive songs that even the OG Metallica fans dig. S&M turned a lot of heads on those two tracks.
Bleeding Me is probably Metallica's best song. When James went back to rehab in 2019ish, my karaoke guy got a copy of it and it's been a staple whenever I can work up the lungs to do it right.
This album is a masterpiece. Glad to see you guys doing this whole album. And respect you guys are great. Straight forward and honest respectful communication.
George and Ryan, it takes time .. i was at the same place .. i used to like slower songs .. but eventually .. you start to remember riffs , and those powerful, royal vibes from this music .. u know vocals, drum, bass riffs everything ... so give it a time ... i remember when i thought i would never listen to Damage INC again .. but now this is one of my fav track from this album.
Like usual, these guys perform perfectly together on this song. Each member totally kills it. Lars drum skills blistering, Kirk completely shredding us to death, and absolutely no way this song works without James and Cliff doing their thing.
Best memory of Battery. It's May 8, 1986, Frank Erwin Center, Austin, TX...Metallica. I'm 25 years old and I brought my 15 year old sister along to experience something she'd never forget. We're 3rd row-center in those fold up chairs that were all connected in each row. We're patiently waiting for the show to start when the lights go off and everyone starts shifting and the buzz of the arena begins. Then the intro to Battery starts and it's like aw shit, it's about to go down. I stand up on my chair with my sister. Then the curtain falls, the lights illuminate the stage and the hard music starts and suddenly everyone is on top of each other. Everyone is pressing against everyone moving forward and backward, left and right. It's sheer mayhem. All-of-a-sudden my legs fall through the chair to the floor when the back of the chair folds up. My legs are trapped and my I'm trying to protect my sister. I was terrified not just for the possibility of my legs getting broke but for the safety of my sister. I look at her face and she's laughing her head off at everything going on around her. She's having the time of her life jamming' to the crunch and being a part of the hysteria. I finally got my legs out and back on top of the chair and everything was right with the world the rest of the night. Wasn't my first Metallica show or metal show but one of the more memorable ones.
@@MrOctober44It’s got a deep meaning though, which they might appreciate. Sometimes it’s not my favorite because it’s so blisteringly fast and thrash at the same time, but James’ passion in that song is unreal.
I was 8 when this album came out & i was introduced to it when I heard it emanating from my bad ass older brothers room. Back then it sounded like the coolest thing i'd ever heard & inspired me to learn to play guitar & 27 ish years later...i still love playing guitar. Thankyou Metallica!
Nowhere close to Master Of Puppets! The degree of skill and creativity is at an all time high on Puppets - The Black album is purposely watered down, with rudimentary riffs and simplified song structures, with more ballads, which were geared for mainstream radio play. I will credit the production values on The Black album - sonics are incredible! Metallica fans that were there from the jump (me!) were stunned by the blatant stab at commercial success from a band that before this Black album, was dangerous, independent, thrilling.....they were our (metal heads) band!
I understand exactly what you are saying but you have to remember when this came out on 86 this was the trend in metal it was speed mixed with slow grungy thrash. Yall still crack me up! Lol
I'm a huge Thrash Metal Head (my main genre) and the reason why Thrash is special is because of it's raw aggression and power. It's about the energy and attitude, that's why it's typically more chaotic and those moments of groove always make you want to headbang.
Lol at half the speed of the guitarist they got rid of because they didn't want to have to keep up with his pace. They say because of him being an out of control drunk but that's not the truth
@@tonyhoable It is the truth, he once poured out a beer on Ron McGovney's bass amp, destroying the amp and electrocuting Ron. They were right for kicking him out of the band.
Some of us that were in high School when this came out had almost nothing to compare to this to. they were pioneering thrash metal..this was their peak and they hadn't sold out yet..they weren't on the radio or making videos for mtv... clearly their best album...
100%!!! I was 16, and there was NOTHING like this out yet. Hard to imagine what it's like if you didn't live through it when it happened. In retrospect with so much other stuff out there, and the better production over the years, it's so hard to judge it the same way.
As much as I love this song, lyrics & that Kirk solo are what I love most about it. James hit a certain underlying attitude that sustains me on bad days.
Its pretty fair to say that thrash and groove are sort of at odds with each other, both sonically and for the effect it has on the listener. The best thrash bands know how to mix the two but they usually don't coincide. On Damage Inc, all that thrash at the start, really sets up how impactful the groove is on the middle section. Still get chills at that transition decades after first hearing it.
It's been so interesting to watch y'all on your journey and seeing what you respond to and why. Like, my 12-year-old self latched onto "Damage" *because* of the frenetic aggression displayed in the majority of the song. The breakdown was cool, don't get me wrong, but that relentless, full-throttle riffage was what hooked so many of us who heard it as kids.
The next Album, "And Justice for All" is also an amazing album. There are too many great songs in it. I think they will love Harvestor of Sorrow! Its such a groovy and heavy song!
I wish Lars wouldn’t have turned Jason’s Bass parts down when making the album! I think he said he did it because Cliff was gone and Newsted didn’t deserve to have his bass “heard” as loud as the rest of the instruments!
Kerry King of Slayer was asked "What is your favorite Metallica song?" His answer: "Damage Inc." In some ways, this song separates the true metal fans from the rest. These boys have never been into the speed/aggro aspect of metal, and that's fine but it really is a defining element of this genre and something I can proudly say makes my hairs stand on end.
What I always love with you reactions guys is you are really able to listen music, it's not just "yes it's cool" or "not", your analysis are always top notch.
Yeah I really like the take about this song. This is my fav album of all time, but I have be in a certain mood for Damage Inc. which I do love. A lot of people react to everything as though it's the greatest thing they've ever heard, which somewhat cheapens their praise. But when you can admit something wasn't really your style, it gives the love that you show the other songs on that same album a lot more authenticity.
so many nuances than just shredding. The intro is bass before the drums kick in. That's Cliff maaan and that's why this album is pure art. I honestly don't think there is a bad note on the record
One of the purest thrash songs you will ever hear. This album defined thrash as a whole in my opinion. Really set the golden standard for what thrash is. Literally no one thrashes as hard as Metallica does.
The 80s was the best time to be alive for young people who were into music in the history of the world. You had all the pop MTV stuff going on who were getting all the airplay with MJ, Billy Joel, Bruce, Madonna...etc. But you also had the whole underground/college radio scene, which brought you Rap, Thrash, New Wave for bands like Metallica, Public Enemy, and REM. Wouldn't change it for the life of me.
Please do more classic Megadeth! I think y’all would LOVE the entire Countdown to Extinction album. One of the greatest metal albums of all time; full of heavy grooves, incredible riffs and legendary solos.
@@longingbydesignEvery Megadeth album before The System Has Failed is over 20 years old. I think it’s fair to say Countdown To Extinction definitely isn’t “modern” Megadeth. If anything their “modern” sound is kind of a combination of their 80’s and 90’s sound, with old man Dave’s vocals….which personally I’m not a fan of, but doesn’t bother me enough to stop me from jamming the riffs.
@@longingbydesignCountdown was the beginning of modern Megadeth, but it is a classic at this point. It was huge when it cane out, and was part of making thrash accessible to the masses. Rust in Peace is better though. 😀
Since it's autumn and we're slowly getting to a cozy mood, I know for a fact that you'll LOVE "Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky", the most underrated gem of his genre.
I love that you guys are finishing up MOP. However I already know how's that gonna go as MOP isn't just one of the best thrash albums but probably amongst the best rock albums broadly. what I'd REALLY LOVE to see you guys react to are some songs off the LOAD album. Load is when Metallica started getting a lot of hate as the album is pretty much not thrash though it's an excellent bluesy rock kinda album and it's extremely divisive. I personally hated the album when I was younger and heard it for the first time after hearing their first few albums and it sounded different from the sound that i was used to. However, i started getting into it about 6 years ago and now I think that the outlaw torn and bleeding me are some of the best works that Metallica has ever done. and that's saying a lot. I'd really like to see you guys react to some polarizing stuff by Metallica.
I really like Load actually. I was surprised when I heard it, but I wasn’t disappointed or angry. Sure, it was a huge change from the Metallica of the 80s and the Black album, but you can only do the same thing so many times before getting bored. Metallica has never been one to do what’s popular or what anyone demands, but just do what they feel at the time they wrote the album. The exception is St. Anger…that seemed to be catering to the style of the time, unfortunately. Death Magnetic and Hardwired are back to them doing what they feel. Either way, I’d love to see how they react to songs like Outlaw Torn, Hero of the Day, etc. I think they’ll probably like them, since there’s no super speed songs and the album is full of cool transitions. Load has a pretty heavy country and blues influence on it, but I don’t mind. I enjoy it as something different from the rest of their catalogue.
Agreed. Load and Reload are both phenomenal albums. I HATE that they get so much hate from the elitists. If Load and Reload were the only albums Metallica ever released, I'm sure they would get a lot more love. But no, they have to be constantly compared to the earlier albums and they're only "bad" because it isn't thrash.
You completely missed the very beginning part which was written and played by Cliff Burton , he wrote that basically listening to come sweet death by BACH, check out Bachs version and what Cliff did.. this song btw is one of their best on this album, its complete aggression but to each its own.. seeing this tour in 86 twice was the two best concerts I’ve ever been too.
It wasn’t that they wanted to end the album this way to show off their skills as Thrash musicians. It was more of a statement that said we are the fastest, angriest, most metal thrashing mutha f*^kers out there! And while one can argue there were faster and more thrashier bands like Slayer around (who are awesome in their own right), no one “kicked it up a notch” and sounded quite as powerful as Metallica in their prime, especially with this song.
The thing about Metal especially thrash is that you almost have to listen to an album from beginning to end. Metallica Master of puppets, Megadeth rust in peace and slayer reign in blood almost have to be listened to in entirety to get the full impact of the album.
Hearing this for the first time in 1986 gave a totally different feeling. This was some of the hardest and fastest music outside of Slayer.

The intro is multi-layered bass tracks. Some of Cliff's best work.
For me as a non-musician, good thrash raises this internal urge of agression and to express that urge by thrashing about in a mosh pit/embracing destruction. Thrash is almost an anti groove and is this primal, deep feeling of chaos...to let go and be.
Agreed!
Since the for Thrash typical skank-beat hits the snare on the off-beats, calling it an "anti-beat" isn't that far off.
Gonna have to disagree on this. Theirs A LOT of groove in the Thrash genre. When you start getting into things like Death Metal that's when it's lost.
@@brettanomyces7077Death Metal’s lot groovier than Thrash. Bolt Thrower, Entombed, Obituary are all groooooovy.
200...300 yrs from now...people will still be listening to this. Enjoyed watching yall discover this album.
I'll definitely still be listening 🤘
actually to be disappoint. likely not. every time i meet a 20-30 something "metal head" or at least hear them listening to modern metal bands, i go up and ask them, hey that sounds good, sounds like Death a bit yeah?
Is your picking still tight on this stuff? I'm starting to struggle. I have to be warmed up to stand a chance anymore!
@@halofour01are you finding enough time to play every day or not really
Musically it's great, but James' vocals still sound weak and strained at times.... Moreso than anything on Ride the Lightning, strangely enough. I wonder if he strained his voice during the recording session. Fortunately, his voice matured and deepened by AJFA, and his vocals on AJFA are consistently on the money.
@@halofour01 Some stuff definitely - but this one is more alternate picking so not so bad. It was definitely easier as a 20 something then now a 50 something.
People say Disposable Heroes is better than Damage Inc?????
The intensity of Damage Inc. fires me up everytime I hear it! If I’m driving or in the gym or out for run, this makes me step up everytime!
Saw this reaction already. Definitely one of my favorite metal songs of all time and has been since I was a teen.
Kirk IS elite. And Lars is on the top of his game here. And this song has been giving me chills for 37 years.
I think Kirk is so good, as is the rest of the band, you just accept his greatness and don't even need to acknowledge it. It's just a given. Another way to put it is saying chocolate is sweet. No one needs to tell you so. It's just known and accepted!
Great show guys. Awesome been waiting for y’all to do some more Metallica. I saw this tour in 86’in Chicago.
This is my favorite. So you're probably gonna hate it. 😂
You're right, there's nothing cool about this song... because it's red hot straight out of the Metal furnace.
Idg Ryan's taste at all dude doesn't like anything
@@hornyconvictit's not that deep. Even though they've listened to a lot of metal, they still look for the same things in every song: groove and melodic vocals. They haven't really changed at all.

I think kirks style really shines in wherever I may roam, his solos in that song are great
Oh they'll lose their minds on that one
Beautiful solos
Damage Inc is a banger. My second favorite song off Master. The #1 is Sanitarium. To me, Sanitarium is the perfect Heavy Metal song.
Leper Messiah is my favorite
100% RTL one of Kirk's finest moments
IMO, the best song this band ever wrote. Gets my blood pumping every time!! To each their own.
Love your honesty while always trying to highlight at least some little thing you liked. You're still the music react OGs in my book 🙂
Kirk Hammett is absolutely one of the GOATs. I don’t know where exactly he’d place but he’s for sure top 10 of all time.
You definitely know it's Kirk when you hear him play, mostly because he's apparently got the wah peddle transplanted on his foot lol. But top 10? Na man, he's definitely a excellent guitarist but I'd give him somewhere in top 50, especially last few albums weren't very good and he still uses that peddle obsessively, love the guy but there are such better guitarists out there
I highly recommend the Rick Beato interview with him.
Dime was better...with van Halen....Kirk has thé money🤑...just it

I appreciate you being so honest with your opinion of the song. A lot of other reaction channels will be like "that was sick!!!!!!!!!" even though you can tell that they didn't really like the song, but you are keeping it real man. It goes back to what you've said in some of your other videos; even if you don't like something but can tell that it is done to the utmost peak of the creators' abilities, then it's fire.
Would like to hear a Redemption for Fear Factory, Demanufacture or self Bias Resistor. They have a new album that is awesome as well.
This is Slayer guitarist Kerry King's favorite Metallica song.
Well said. On top of that they influenced all of those bands
I have never seen anyone in my life besides Dimebag Darrell that looked so comfortable and effortless playing guitar. Check out Kirk playing live and you will see what i mean. Dime too
Really love this song. Kirk actually had Joe Satriani as a guitar teacher. Kirk is amazing. Love you guys 🖤
this song changed my life after the first listening..... i just stopped listening to the black album and just started consuming this beast as well as old Metallica but this song ripped my head off.
Carpe diem!
I'd love to see them do the memory remains... Such a change of pace for them.
The reactions are better with metal songs, hard rock or radio friendly metallica reactions are just as boring as those songs.
Bleeding Me is a MUST.
The Leper Messiah.
Damage Inc. is my favorite ending track to a Metallica album it's in your face till the end.
Not to mention "Dyers eve"
Spit out the Bone is up there, my #3 closer
Whiplash.

King Nothing off Load or Sad But True off Black Album would be awesome to see--BIG grooves
They did Sad but True during the early days…ruclips.net/video/4z1HeXesG-I/видео.html
They’ve already done Sad But True very early on
King Nothing, 2x4, or Devil's Dance.
9:46 Kirk Hammett learned from Joe Satriani. Of course he's going to have some of the most bangin solos in the business
George nailed it. It was a competitive time. But you can't loose the groove for the sake of technical prowess and this album has it all.
Damage Inc. Is my favorite Metallica song, glad you guys checked it out
Metallica Wherever i May Roam, cmon guys this is a must one you are skipping it for too long now
Yeah they'll love it.
Agreed! My all time favorite Metallica song!!

Word! Mama Said is a country single chart topper, if it doesn't say Metallica on the box. Good song.
🤘🧙♂️🤘
I stan for Load endlessly, but Bleeding Me and Outlaw Torn are massive songs that even the OG Metallica fans dig. S&M turned a lot of heads on those two tracks.
Bleeding Me is probably Metallica's best song. When James went back to rehab in 2019ish, my karaoke guy got a copy of it and it's been a staple whenever I can work up the lungs to do it right.
Anything after the black album is god awful. Especially Load/Reload. Absolutely useless music.
Mama said !! Thats gonna get to them
This album is a masterpiece. Glad to see you guys doing this whole album. And respect you guys are great. Straight forward and honest respectful communication.
this is such a great record!
Ending an album with a shred fest is true for And Justice For All too, so seriously, when are you going to react to Metallica Dyers Eve?
This song sounds like it is from justice. My favorite metallica album and generally.
They wouldn't like it. They don't like Fast riffs.
Yeah same situation as this, they wont like it because its pure thrash , but theyll recognize the incredible musicianship
@@MrOctober44It’s got a deep meaning though, which they might appreciate. Sometimes it’s not my favorite because it’s so blisteringly fast and thrash at the same time, but James’ passion in that song is unreal.
@@CathyHolton-jh1xv i love the song. I think it's the best song off a Justice. They never seem to like full on thrash.

3:56 Ladies and Gentlemen, here we got presented a very new and profound profession: The Metal Conductor! 😯😁
"Wherever I May Roam" is such a banger. Great lyrics, too!
Lmao
The Black album marks the beginning of retirement home Metallica.
@@ChocolateCylonI disagree with this comment on so many levels. The Black Album is just as good as Master of Puppets imo.
Black album is the 4th best Metallica album
Lol
I am in agreement with Kirk being an underrated guitarist. If you have not seen Beato’s interview with Kirk it’s worth the watch.
That interview is phenomenal
I'm a huge Thrash Metal Head (my main genre) and the reason why Thrash is special is because of it's raw aggression and power. It's about the energy and attitude, that's why it's typically more chaotic and those moments of groove always make you want to headbang.
Kirk is amazing and somehow still underrated. And he does the same riffs live in concert perfectly!
Can’t seem to get nothing else matters right hahah. It’s such a mental
Thing that he always flubs it
Lol at half the speed of the guitarist they got rid of because they didn't want to have to keep up with his pace. They say because of him being an out of control drunk but that's not the truth
@@tonyhoable It is the truth, he once poured out a beer on Ron McGovney's bass amp, destroying the amp and electrocuting Ron. They were right for kicking him out of the band.
He's actually very overrated, and his playing live is really sloppy sometimes.
@BirdsElopeWithTheSun09 and the band didn't want to keep up with his pace. Just listen to the songs with Dave and than with kirk. Slowed the shit down
Both my 2006 Mustang and my 2014 Harley have variations of this song as their license plates. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Some of us that were in high School when this came out had almost nothing to compare to this to. they were pioneering thrash metal..this was their peak and they hadn't sold out yet..they weren't on the radio or making videos for mtv... clearly their best album...
10th grade and this dropped like a mile wide meteor onto my musical world!!
100%!!! I was 16, and there was NOTHING like this out yet. Hard to imagine what it's like if you didn't live through it when it happened. In retrospect with so much other stuff out there, and the better production over the years, it's so hard to judge it the same way.
I love how you explain yourselves, that's what makes you, you.
As much as I love this song, lyrics & that Kirk solo are what I love most about it. James hit a certain underlying attitude that sustains me on bad days.
Still amazes me these guys could write such amazing music at 21, 22, and 23 years old
Its pretty fair to say that thrash and groove are sort of at odds with each other, both sonically and for the effect it has on the listener. The best thrash bands know how to mix the two but they usually don't coincide. On Damage Inc, all that thrash at the start, really sets up how impactful the groove is on the middle section. Still get chills at that transition decades after first hearing it.
the fast paced part is still incredibly groovy, Ryan just only knows one groove and dismiss any other kind.
Don't forget that the nasty ass groove in the middle was written by Kirk as well! and the intro is all Cliff on bass
If y’all like more of the grooves than Load and Reload are the way to go
Criminally underrated albums
Best album by the best band. Butt kicking from beginning to end.
Y’all would love anything off Chaos AD - Sepultura. Groove metal. It’s all those groovy breakdowns and nasty head nods you guys like.
And their album before that one Arise(the one with Dead Embryonic Cells you did) is The Best Thrash Album Ever. I said what I said :)
Agreed! 🤘
they didnt really like chaos, did it already
One of the purest thrash songs you will ever hear. This album defined thrash as a whole in my opinion. Really set the golden standard for what thrash is. Literally no one thrashes as hard as Metallica does.
Literally the best track on the album.
Funny, I've always considered "Countdown to Extinction" modern Megadeth...

I think they’re are many songs they’d love off of Load and Reload. It’s bluesy and groovy. Songs like Bleeding Me or Ain’t My Bitch or Devils Dance.
James' chorus on Bleeding Me is really fantastic writing
@@JarrodMitchell but when they do stuff that's just like the old stuff they get hate anyway... They still take it all to the bank tho.
This has to be the best album Metallica has ever produced
The moment it hits and George smiles made my day.
