oil pastel painting by layering technique,...step by step color will blending by itself...and dont need brush or linsed oil. Specially for the portrait you need only 5 or 6 colors to get color's skins

Nice skin values, the only thing I would do different is not use that black the value difference there is just too much and it stands out a lot. A 50% sepia or a dark green like chromium oxide green to desaturate a dark red would probably balance out the extreme values there.
