very nice video, thank you! I will be tape-modding my Q6 this week. Now I know, that I cannot do anything wrong+
Loved how straightforward this video was! Thanks and great job!
Thank you! :)
I really like the end result sound.
Thank you :) So do I
Thanks :) Using this as a guide to mod my Q6. Got some boba u4ts on the way and akko keycaps coming in. Going to do the same tape/polyfill thing you got going on
You're very welcome :)
Massive thock, good job
Thank you!
Very nice, my Q6 arrived yesterday :D it's a pretty big boy
Thank you 🙏 Yes, it's pretty big. I really like it.
@@Splashy2k I now also have the Q6 and I have a question, when I press the "Caps Lock" button, the LED turns white, but if I press the "Num Clear" button, it doesn't white, is that the case with you too? shouldn't it also be white as an indicator?
@@Neikon I use GMK keycaps that are not shine through so I haven’t really noticed but I’ll try and see after my cat gets off the keyboard cover 😊 In the meantime maybe you can also try to program it using VIA
@@Splashy2k I've already looked at via, unfortunately I can't find anything, I've now also gotten PBT keycaps, I just want to know whether my board is defective or whether it's normal :D it would be nice if you could take a look. normal RGB lighting works without any problems
@@Neikon I checked and on my keyboard neither the capslock nor the numlock turn white, it's just the normal RGB. Maybe it has something to do with the lighting mode, or not.
Would love to see a video of Q6 in all white colour cuz there is no barebone Q6 in white colour :/ don't know if I can spray- paint it white.. also what's your fav switch?
I don't think there's any version of Q6 available in White just yet. Some people spray paint their keyboards, I don't feel comfortable doing that.
My favorite switch, that's a tough question, lol. I like quite a few switches and I can't decide on any one of them. I mainly like linear and tactile switches, especially linear. I know I like my switches lubed because it makes them feel a lot smoother and softer and I like the sound better that way. Some of the switches that I like are alpacas, banana splits, nk creams, Black Ink V2, Boba U4T.
Q6 Pro comes in white now!
is there a lot of flex when you type hard? Im going to be getting this keyboard with a brass plate and adding some clicky switches. Was hoping the gasket mechanism wouldnt mess with my clicks
I'm a touch typist and I don't type hard but for me at least the flex doesn't bother me and after the mods I made there might be less flex than before but I don't mind it.
What's the cable? Really like that it's not heatshrink on the connectors
It's a custom cable from Glorious
Thanks for this!
Lol li literally every single other comment got a like but yours didn’t. Sadge
Great review! I noticed that there is no num lock or caps lock on this keyboard? Does the four symbols on the top right corner a light indicator? I could not find information regarding that anywhere.
Thank you! The keyboard doesn't have a light indicator for Caps Lock and Num Lock.
@@Splashy2k Is there a way you can get around it? Any other indicator using light?
@@arafathshiyam It may be possible using VIA/QMK.
@@arafathshiyam I believe you can program it in VIA/QMK to modify your lights when caps lock is on. I'm assuming the same for numlock but not sure
@@im_Spade_ I have not programmed mine yet. But I believe you have a large variety of option with QMK. I just did not get around doing it yet.
is it safe to put the tape on the keyboard? won't it damage the board? just asking before I try to do this
Personally I have done this mod on several keyboards and nothing happened but your mileage may vary. Do so at your own risk.
How do you like those key caps?
I like them a lot, they're great.
End game?
Probably, for now anyway :)
You don't need the polyfill.
Just do the pe foam mod on the pcb(it will require removal of keycaps and switches) and do tape mod.
Remove away the plate foam and case foam. You don't need those.
It will sound awesome due to the PE foam mod and it will flex like a dream without the case foam plate foam.
I tried doing the PE Foam mod once and I had trouble fitting the switches and a lot of switches wouldn't work with the PE foam installed.
I bought PE foam that was recommended by one of the youtubers who did the mod.
@@Splashy2k it's probably too thick. I had the same issue when I used 2 layers of pe foam that came with my tv. With 2 layers, about 70 percent switches work and it sound super super nice and creamy. I can make it work but will be tedious as most switches were bend as 2 layers of pe foam was pretty thick so if u didn't insert the switches straight on, it might bend.
I change to 1 layer of 0.5mm pe foam and it worked on my first try. All switches work without me removing to check the pins.
Though 0.5mm is not as creamy sounding as 1mm, it still does have that creamy marbly sound.
@@jamesmadison3108 Thanks, I'll try to find 0.5mm PE foam.
polyfill is wonderful. Stop spreading false information. PE foam has NOTHING to do with what polyfill does. bozo
