Sometimes the stamps do wear off with frequent wear- I have a couple of rings that are like that, the metal marks are so worn they are just barely visible
Yep yep u also have to have the eye for it Usually tho it shouuuullllddd be stamped but not all the time Of it was a custom piece and they didn't have a stamp Or The stamp was broken that day 😂 😆
@Gemstonecoin if you don't have the eye...get a better loop,a better light ,or younger or better eyes and don't forget to move it around in all angles possible because there's alway a partial mark out if the entire stamp, and research if u can, family etc?!
The magnet test is NOT 100% reliable. But I use one in thrift stores in combination with a strong powered jewelery loupe. I've had magnetic 14 karat gold...and it apparently depends on what metals are mixed in the gold. Acid testing does damage to the item and isn't accurate or reliable...as the acid itself breaks down in a week or two. I take all my items to a xray machine...?xrf I think it's called...to get the exact metal percentages. I have my own scale but wish I had other tools like gem testers. This hobby has much better odds than gambling!
I doubt the horseshoe is solid gold but I could put 10k acid then 14k to see Also usually gold filled is magnetic 🧲 so if the pin isn't magnetic then I might think it could be 🤔 12k possibly
@Gemstonecoin no it's not! An example of that is?...other metal alloys can also boost a magnet to go either way as well. Many times we've seen goldfilled not magnetic and why?. How about gold plated, electro plated or heavy electro plated?

That first ring you took out is an Irish 'Claddagh' ring.
I looked that up and you are right thanks for sharing that!
@@Gemstonecoin You're most welcome.
The jewelry jar game!

12k gold is 12k gold . 12k gold filled will be marked 12k GF.

Gold filled, plated, electro plated,1 20th gp, or 10 k gp 14gp etc. He's not one to be giving advice! Bext!
It's not about giving advice, it's about giving you the knowledge to make your own informed decisions!
12 karat gold is usually from Europe and on older jewellry.
Reminder that sizing a ring down the jeweller may have to cut out the kt stamp. Lol its pronounced as Sayco
Don't discredit glass beads, fiori, swarovski etc! He has a sterling antique necklace there he discredited,I have that one ! Not the gest advice!
It's just a fun video, not saying it's the best way to find treasure lol
