I am 72. Wow! I have loved jewelry and worked in a high-end precious jewelry store. I always purchased one or two fine pieces a year rather than lots of junk. I also refrained when gold was sky high. It's a commodity that fluxes with interest rates, so when it dipped; I shopped, When it rose; I refrained. Trends are trends. Jewelry is very personal so choose and wear what you will like during your lifetime. Cherish the ones that are passed down to you.
the only jewelry I wear now is what was my moms. She left this earth in 2017 and I feel close to her with wearing her pins. Also, I put them out as decor to by my frames and on my dresser.
Yes to long necklaces! Longer necklaces look better on me with my short torso. I think they look great with plain sweaters and tops. They are a good alternative to scarves
I’m a huge accessories fan so I appreciate your sharing the trends right now. I love the idea of layering several necklaces rather than just wearing one. And breaking up the matching sets is a creative way to change things up. I’m looking forward to trying some of these new looks. Thanks, Anna, for your take on jewelry trends. I like your personal approach; it’s very refreshing!
I absolutely love jewelry, I have a huge collection of vintage jewelry, many of which I've had since I was a kid. The jewelry I choose to wear usually depends on my mood, the weather, and the vibe I want with my outfit ,I don't really follow the trends, one day I can wear something bold and outlandish and the next day I can opt for some dainty fine jewelry 😁
You just made me very happy. I am becoming very sentimental in my senior years. I just bought a second gold chain to add to a heavy gold necklace that my mother gave me so I can just flip it over my head without struggling with the clasp. Both chains are about the same width but they don't match. I want to wear it with another necklace from her where the three charms rest in my cleavage (they don't show) and the long chain is so fine you can barely see it. I will check my stash for another "wrong necklace" to make an intentional looking group. I have a gold tone lariette necklace that I will try. I do like a long sculptural-pendant necklace on a cord. A carved soapstone or ceramic piece that is unique, maybe from a summer art fair. They are useful against column dressing over a solid dress or matching top and bottom under an open blazer, vest or cardi. It just looks so nice when all the vertical lines complement each other. I had pierced ears, but one ripped and it's never been a priority to get it fixed. My earring box is frozen in time and I have given away some of the better pieces. There is one small pair of posts that I have my mother and then kept when she passed. I no longer have the dexterity to put earrings on myself, but if I just left that one pair on it might work. Either way, I should be able to let go of all my other earrings. I am just too nostalgic. Oj! The burden of storing such tiny things is not so great. I am keeping my collection of long beaded necklaces for future trends and I might venture out and tie one to a purse for a holiday embellishment. If non-matching necklaces are a thing, maybe I'll try a cluster of non-matching rhinestone brooches for New Year's Eve. Back in the 60s, my mother used to pin brooches to those fabric clutches that she would have dyed to match her shoes, gloves and outfit. I sure am glad we don't do that any more. That being said, I still have her dyed cloth clutches in brown, turquoise and pink. The pink matched her second-wedding dress. The matching outfits are all gone, but those clutches have complemented the occasional cocktail dress. I hate spending money on outfits I only wear once a year. 😵💫🥂🍾
I love the idea of using a beaded necklace as a bag charm! I do like the way bag charms look but I don’t want ones that everyone else has. I’ve made all my beaded necklaces with pearls (yes they are in again!), Swarovski style beads, raw semiprecious stones, and Murano glass beads to suit my wardrobe colors so this is just perfect. Thank you for this!
Definitely seeing the long necklaces ALREADY. They are easy to find listed as sweater necklaces and we are definitely into the sweater season! Literally yesterday just purchased two to see which i like better.
I loved this video! Thank you Anna! So many of these trends make me happy. I have always loved layering necklaces, bracelets, and long pendant necklaces. I toned it down but never gave those styles up entirely. I am ready to bring them back with a vengeance! A few years ago I started keeping a box of "set aside for now" jewelery. It is fun to dig through it occasionally and feel that "oh! Thank goodness I didn't declutter this!" feeling. Doesn't take up much space and is very rewarding.
Skipping the pendant trend as it is a look I attribute to my grandmothers. Rose gold never looked real no matter how "high end" it was. Now the layering look is interesting and I will be doing that pronto. I am so glad smaller watches are in, all of mine are fine jewelry and I love them!
I spent 3 nights trying to untangle my necklace. Gave up and wanted to cut the chain to save the pendant but the guy who sold me the necklace helped me untangle it in 15 minutes. I won’t want my necklace to be tangled up again.
I don’t trust those Amazon clasps for some reason 🤷🏻♀️ I haven’t try them I just don’t know. I feel like the layering trend is just maybe for a picture and that’s it, it’s just not funtional.
Love the jewelry update videos. I have noticed some of the vintage lines like Sarah Coventry and Avon actually hold up better than the new. I have jewelry from them that still look brand new, not tarnished while some I have bought the past 3 years have already discolored. Watched a documentary from a few years ago on diamonds - they believe that the real diamond market has been infiltrated with lab grown by up to 30%. Most diamonds are cut in India and some cutters take bribes to cut the lab grown- once cut they are very hard to tell the difference.
I love pendant necklaces, so long as the pendants aren’t too large for my small frame and head. French women seem to wear gold pendant necklaces a lot.
I’ve always loved, shopped for and worn vintage jewelry. So many pieces are one of a kind and unique. Nothing cookie cutter. I actually have many of my mother’s pieces from the 40’s. But honestly, it sometimes takes me more time to put on my jewelry than either my hair or makeup! 🤦♀️
Love all . I got rid of all my Chanel earrings . Although I never had too much logo as it is but changing to old Celine, and similar brands, I changed my jewelry as well. Love my Mikimoto moving in white gold lariat necklace. And of course some old Celine necklaces and earrings. But on my list, these different shapes earrings, and I do want Chanel find jewelry Camélia pendant necklace in rose gold. Burgundy statement earrings from old Celine are on my list too. I just love more individual styling 🙏❤️
I’m happy to see this video. I have a lot of jewelry and I’m never sure what to wear. I got diamond studs for Christmas last year from my husband. And I try to wear them if I go anywhere. I’m sure they cost a lot so I’m getting my money’s worth out of them. But I don’t usually wear anything else but them and my wedding ring. Which I just had to replace that diamond when I lost it for the third time. This one is pretty. I have no idea if it’s lab grown or mined. I didn’t ask. I love gold jewelry, I do have a few mixed pieces I wear. I just got out of the practice of wearing necklaces and bracelets every time I go out of the house. But I may have to start again. I just saw on a video the other day. If you’re older and wear turtlenecks or mock necks use should wear longer necklaces to draw attention away from your neck. And I definitely need to do that.
I love the long pendants but only with real stones…. The inexpensive metal ones or plastic beads not a fan. With the right outfit I am glad it is back… thanks for sharing ❤
Hi! I absolutely love your content and really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos-they’ve been such a big help when it comes to fashion. I just wanted to mention that the brightness in your recent videos seems a bit high, and it can feel a little harsh on the eyes while watching. If it’s possible to adjust that, it would be amazing, but of course, it’s totally up to you. Keep up the great work!
Anna, I loved this video, your content is so good. You look fabulous, thanks. If you are right on this I am good to go! I just watched this video on dupes on Melissa Godwin’s channel and she was wearing this oversized heart pendant necklace and I just loved the look, now I know it is a look😁
The one trend that I will not give up is my 3 carat IF, D color classic solitary diamond ring that is a family heirloom. Honestly, most people can’t even tell a real diamond from a cubic zicornia one when it’s that size, which is why I always feel safe wearing it. If I were in the market to purchase a new diamond, that’s a different story, but the one I have will always be a classic, in trend with special sentimental meaning for me personally.
I don't really wear a lot of jewelry in my daily life since I find it gets caught on things plus I have a nickel allergy & anything that tarnishes (silver) really inflames my skin so it means I can't do most costume jewelry. Anyway, I have a pair of 18k gold studs that I can actually leave in & not have any issues with (unless my immune system is overloaded then everything bothers my skin) & my wedding ring. That's about it for jewelry worn everyday. When I'm going out/getting dressed up I have plenty of other choices that I've collected over the years. Manmade/cubic zirconia diamonds never bothered me as far as "fake" diamonds goes. Diamonds aren't my favorite gemstone tbh. I wanted some real diamond jewelry a few years back & my husband bought me a pair of really nice studs & a heart shaped diamond necklace from a vintage estate jeweler which was certified as conflict free. That's what i would recommend to anyone who insists on real diamonds. (unfortunately the earrings irritated my skin so I don't wear them often. Vintage jewelry is not always nickel free) I have found gold plated over sterling silver to be a good alternative at least in rings & bracelets. My neck & ears are super sensitive so that's where I have to be careful.
Joan in Mad Men perfected the use of long necklaces to draw attention to her decolletage. While I've loved and worn them myself for decades while working in corporate America, I'm more aware now of the power they have to attract the male gaze. [I'm not blaming the guys, they can't help themselves.😂] But for me, with a slightly above-average-sized bust line, I will carefully choose when and where I'll wear one of the many long necklaces in my jewelry collection. At my age and stage in life, I simply don't welcome the attention any longer.
💯. Diamonds are earths creation, mostly between 1 - 3.5 billion years old . Stupid trends come and go . I think there’s a place for mined and lab grown, following a stupid trend that is here to stay for a season is ridiculous.
Long necklaces can be problematic for ladies with big breasts. They can fall at really unfortunate places. Love the look, but I’ll have to see if I can find the right length.
Good quality rose gold is not now, and has never been, out of style. In fact, good quality gold and silver jewelry is timeless…the pieces just need to be worn tastefully.
Well, this is clearly only for the costume and plated jewellery, which is the fun part of it often, because I am not getting rid of or putting away my fine jewellery, the few pieces I have, because of trends… but the costume jewellery… agree on them all… and you really can’t put the value in a lab grown diamant compared to real diamants… 😊
Mixing gold and silver - yes, I've been doing that for decades! Charms, not so much. And long necklaces are very nice unless you have larger breasts like me. I can't wear SUPER long necklaces because my boobs hold the necklace out, away from my body, further accentuating what I don't want to accentuate. I'm on the hunt for a chunky link gold and pearl necklace now.
My favorite jewelry has always been that with pearls and yellow gold (usually “gold” these days) elements. I love pearls, but feel like the classic strands are too old-ladyish for me. I’m 64 and don’t want to look like I never updated my style in decades. I like these classic strands on young women, though.
Resale on mined diamonds is nearly zero as well. Jewellers don't want to spend the time disassembling used jewellery to get the second-hand stones out, and who are they going to sell a second-hand diamond to? Unless it's the Hope Diamond or the Star of Africa, nobody wants your used diamonds, mined or lab-grown.
Diamonds of good quality aren’t like second hand clothing . They don’t have wear and tear . Jewelry with mounted diamonds on the other hand gets scratched but can be repolished and in case of white gold get a absolutely perfect new look with a new coating of rhodium, a platinum metal . So why the hate for „second hand“ diamonds ? 😅
Long necklaces have never been practical for me. They end up being funneled into my "valley" and it just looks bad. I don't need anything bringing more attention to my chest. A long necklace is like a big neon sign saying "Look at my b@@bs"!
Great video. Quick question - you have been saying in your jewelry videos that rose gold is out. Is that in costume jewelry or everything? Van Cleef's Holiday Pendant this year was rose and white gold. Van Cleef and other high end lines carry a lot of rose gold that sells out.
No to the long necklaces with big pendant on the bottom… over it!!! Love messy layered necklace look and the fine layered necklace looks… looks intentional 🇨🇦
Definitely wear what you like. Jewelry is very personal. I sold jewelry in a very high end precious jewelry store and was a personal shopper for wealthy clients. There will always be trends, but they come and go. Enjoy what you love. It is your personal style.
I was wondering when somebody would make a video about jewelry trends, so I love this video. Just a tiny comment about pronunciation. You are not alone in this as most people pronounce jewelry as "jewlury". It helps to remember that we wear jewels not "jewlus". Keep up the great content!
lol, lab grown diamonds are just as bad for the environment as mined diamonds (the most ethical option would be to source antique diamond pieces, imo). Also, brands like Catbird often use reclaimed diamonds in their new jewellery, which bypasses the ethical mining issue.
@@ANNAREID29 Absolutely, and antiques/reclaimed pieces address both issues. I see the beauty in lab grown diamonds, but can’t get behind the idea of more co2 emissions for the sake of jewellery production 😬
Not every mined diamond is a blood diamond . You can look up the Kimberley process. Also diamonds have made a great contribution to some countries economies like Botswana, which now has free public healthcare; access to free primary and secondary education, … thanks to diamond mining. If people are so worried about exploitation have you checked the clothing you wear , bags , shoes , accessories , home decor…? Even Dior was exposed for sweatshop practices so it is not just SHEIN I’m sorry . And Lab diamonds aren’t that great for the environment too - they sometimes need weeks to grow, in gigantic factories .They still have a place in the market place and are great ! It’s not all black and white ! But to throw shade on a creation of nature that is 1 -3.5 billion years old from some moral high ground where you talk about trends that are here for a season or two and fuel the consumerism is a little hypocrite

Me too, I cant wait for that one to take off! 🚀I have a few that I can pull out of storage 😆
Long necklaces layered is what I can’t wait for. Loved that Gypsy boho trend years ago.
Such an informative video. I get lazy when it comes to putting on jewelry. You’ve inspired me to get in there and get creative.
When I have multiple necklaces layered and they start winding around each other, I get claustrophobia 😂
I’ve loved rose gold ever since my grandmother gave me her ring from the 1920’s. It can be timeless ❤
I have never stopped wearing the long necklaces. They elongate my short torso.
I came here to say the same thing.
Really enjoyed this jewelry trends video-Only one thing I disagree -Rose Gold being out. It looks really beautiful on my skin, I just love love it!!
Yes,yes. Rose looks great with my skin tone. I just wear what looks good and I feel good wearing 👍
When rose gold is complimentary to someone's skin tone, it is breath taking. I have seen people in which this is the case. Stunning! Jealous!
@@jls6063 I agree. It looks beautiful on some skin tones. But on me it looks awful.

You just made me very happy. I am becoming very sentimental in my senior years.
Either way, I should be able to let go of all my other earrings. I am just too nostalgic. Oj! The burden of storing such tiny things is not so great.
I am keeping my collection of long beaded necklaces for future trends and I might venture out and tie one to a purse for a holiday embellishment.

I’m 64 and don’t want to look like I never updated my style in decades. I like these classic strands on young women, though.
I’m ordering…Christmas is here…
Resale on Lab diamonds is zero!
I like the long chain look and the stack of pendants that are on trend.
Have you ever checked out MAM.Originals? Talk about unique.... I am obsessing over some... and hiding from others!😂
I love the layered look but what is the trick from keeping the necklaces looking like a tangled mess after wearing them for a while?
Great video. Quick question - you have been saying in your jewelry videos that rose gold is out. Is that in costume jewelry or everything? Van Cleef's Holiday Pendant this year was rose and white gold. Van Cleef and other high end lines carry a lot of rose gold that sells out.
The link posted does not seem to take us to the site for jewelry…. Only other RUclips videos.
No to the long necklaces with big pendant on the bottom… over it!!! Love messy layered necklace look and the fine layered necklace looks… looks intentional 🇨🇦
❤️❤️❤️
I never even knew the things that you said are currently NOT on trend, ever were ON trend. Sigh....
I am a huge rosegold girl any thoughts on that?
me too! My wedding ring set is rose gold and I love it. These videos are fun to watch, but at the end of the day people wear what they love.
@@cm-nj my wedding set is as well!
Own it girls! It is beautiful and you love it, that is the most important thing. ❤
Definitely wear what you like. Jewelry is very personal. I sold jewelry in a very high end precious jewelry store and was a personal shopper for wealthy clients. There will always be trends, but they come and go. Enjoy what you love. It is your personal style.
I 100% think if you love to wear something wear it! In the end the only opinion that matters is your own ❤️❤️
I love rose gold and will wear it always it is perfect for my skin tone.
I very much dislike pearls, IMO it always looks matronly
I don’t care for chunky necklaces at all I like layering small pieces
No on the long necklaces as they tend to bob when walking as it's way annoying .. lol.
Long necklaces should have their place. I was sorry that they were out of style.
So the trend is be as tacky as possible. 🤦♀️ whyyyyyy
And I don’t like too bold earrings for everday just on special occasions
why are your last two videos so overexposed with light ?
I was wondering when somebody would make a video about jewelry trends, so I love this video. Just a tiny comment about pronunciation. You are not alone in this as most people pronounce jewelry as "jewlury". It helps to remember that we wear jewels not "jewlus". Keep up the great content!
Are people ASKING you where your diamonds came from? VERY bad manners!
Or you can thrift and buy real vintage
💯
Never was into Rose Gold
I was for a minute but got tired of it quickly! ❤️❤️
It looks cheap and gaudy, in my opinion.
There is something in me that that is drawn to it, but I've only purchased a few costume pieces because it goes in and out of favor so frequently.
Too many necklaces look like a clump of 🗑️
Rose gold is still very in and its also classic and timeless.
It’s out - you can wear what you want but it’s just not trendy anymore
I do not like the look of a jewelry box threw up on you. Layered pearls - yes!
I think the piled necklace trend is tacky. It looks like you threw every necklace you have on.
lol, lab grown diamonds are just as bad for the environment as mined diamonds (the most ethical option would be to source antique diamond pieces, imo).
Also, brands like Catbird often use reclaimed diamonds in their new jewellery, which bypasses the ethical mining issue.
It’s not just the environment, there is a lot of abuse to humans who have to actually get the diamonds.
@@ANNAREID29 Indeed. That's why they're called "blood diamonds."
