  • Today's video is the first of a new series we're creating called Yankee Springs Trails. Being part of the Grand Rapids Jeep Club, a lot of our local trail rides consist of trails around Yankee Springs. If you don't know where Yankee Springs is located, it's about 30 miles south of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's roughly 8 miles directly east of US-131 HWY/Gun Lake Casino on M179 (Chief Noonday Road). There tends to be lots of questions posted to the club's FB page asking what these trails are like. So we decided to make a video series to show you guys!
    Although pretty much all of Yankee Springs is considered to be easy, there are a few spots that can be challenging or can cause some trouble. These trails/roads are technically considered to be seasonal/county roads. So please use caution during or after any inclement weather.
    We started today's video at M179 (Chief Noonday) & South Peets Road (42.645209, -85.427258). This route can be taken either direction. With a lot of the trails in the area being so close together, you can take a variety of different combinations of trails in different directions. So don't think there's one specific route to these trails as we show them. The only 2 "obstacles" along this trail are a large optional boulder (42.628, -85.428) and a muddy rutted out section (42.625346, -85.428589) that changes constantly with the amount of traffic and weather conditions. The boulder feature is completely optional, but for those of you who would like to test out your suspensions and articulation, this is a good boulder to do so. Just please use caution and use a spotter if needed. The muddy rutted out section can be fun for those who want to get down in the ruts and have some fun with the skinny pedal. Just remember the amount of cleaning that will ensue after your ride haha. Otherwise, stay on the high points and you'll be just fine.
    These 2 trails are a lot of fun, and they are some of our favorites in the area. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below or shoot me a message on my social pages (FB-Kyle Kelly & IG-@skier270). We hope you all enjoyed this video, and if you do, please be sure to Like, Subscribe, Comment Below, and Share with your friends and family! See ya! :)

    Just got a 2021 grand cherokee trailhawk and was looking for something newbie friendly to start my adventuring and live in Kalamazoo. Is this a good spot? Any advice besides go slow and bring a friend to help?

      Congrats on your new Trailhawk! That’s awesome. Yes this is a great spot. I haven’t been down there in a few months, but nothing should be difficult around there. Watch for the washouts and the sandy sections, otherwise enjoy the beautiful scenery especially at Dagget Lake. These are definitely beginner friendly trails. Have fun and let us know how it goes for ya!

    I haven’t had a jeep since 1971 but now that I’m retired I purchased a gladiator and I was wondering are there any jeep clubs in the Grand Rapids area? I live in Cannonsburg and I was wondering if you have any information thank you.

      Yes! Check out the Grand Rapids Jeep Club. They do a lot of fun Jeep related events including trail rides, meet and greets, ORV Park Days, poker runs, charity events, and much more!

    Do I need an orv sticker? Is this something you can do on your own or is it good to go with someone? Thinking about taking my 16' Nissan frontier out. Thanks for the video.

    • @jeepboyz12
      @jeepboyz12  Год назад

      No ORV stickers are needed as these are all technically considered county roads/trails. So anyone that is street legal is good to take these trails. You can easily do everything in Yankee Springs alone with a stock Jeep. I always like to wheel with a friend if possible, but there isn't anything technical. Just be cautious of the only water hole. It's really deep. I'd say a stock Nissan Frontier shouldn't have any issues out there, but use your own judgement. These aren't crazy trails, but they're fun for being close in our area. :) Glad you enjoyed the video. We're actually going to be filming more of these VERY soon for the rest of the trails around Yankee.

    Did you air down or do you think it’s not necessary for this trail

    • @jeepboyz12
      @jeepboyz12  2 года назад

      No it’s not necessary for these trails. Although if you want to have a smoother ride you could do so. Just know that you’ll need to air back up when you leave. I’m not sure if the gas station in town has air or not. But it’s not needed to travel these roads and trails, only for comfort.
