Another good one is when a small squad, 3 of them, Talos, Xarl and Uzas were boarding an imperial ship, seeking to find directions so they could escape it blowing up, xarl grabs a fleeing crewman and loudly asks where the gunnery deck is, so loud it blew out the guys eardrums and frightened him so much that he pulled his bolter and shot xarl in the face, which bounced back into his own face and killed him. @@vavra222 Yeah, bit of a long story but Uzas used to go on rampages when Khorne’s influence took over. Occasionally running amok on the lower decks and killing anything that he could find. At one time a daughter was born to one family on the lower decks of their ship, a rarity as almost all of them had been sterilised by warp exposure. She died in a boarding action from the Blood Angels when Talos had promised her protection using an old Legion medallion as a marker. Some time later her grieving father began stirring up dissent until Talos, with unusual restraint for a Night Lord, confronted him, told him that he had personally avenged his daughter’s death and desecrated the corpse of her killer, and told him in no uncertain terms to knock it off or he would come for him. Some time later he was found dead and Uzas was blamed for it, leading Talos to mark his gauntlets red in accordance to an old Nostraman custom. It turns out that Cyrion, one of the more jovial Night Lords and one who had stood by Talos since the start who was…somewhat addicted with a psychic emotional vampirism for fear had been behind several killing sprees below decks as well to sate this addiction and had let Uzas take the blame for it. Following a severe head injury after clashing with the Eldar Pheonix Lord Jain-Zar, Uzas finally began to remember clearly and confronted Cyrion shortly before First Claw made their last stand, intending on making Cyrion own up to what he had done and clear his own name, only for Cyrion to attempt to kill him to keep it quiet. Uzas survived the initial attempt but his precarious grasp on sanity snapped at the attempt and he tried to kill Cyrion, forcing Talos to kill him none the wiser, thinking that Uzas had finally crossed the line.

The first part is all about the Imperium and a majority of their major factions. The second part covers the Chaos Daemon and Astartes, as well as the major Xenos factions.
No problem. In addition, Bricky tells you really cool stuff that your friend may not have gone over, like just how insanely badass the Sisters of Battle are, as well as quotes that also give you this feeling of; "Holy shit, this is hardcore".
The Salamanders prevail. VULKAN LIVES. STOMP. STOMP. I am really happy that the flamy boys get the appreciation they deserve. And they are craftsmen too which is another plus for me
I have recently broken out the gigantic pile of Firstborn marines I’ve had in storage and am burning through a shocking amount of Vallejo greens turning them into Sallies. I eagerly await Vulkan getting ported to 40k. We have Bobby G, Lionel is inbound, and Vulkan is a damn perpetual… Also, why no new Vulkan He’stan, GW? Resin sucks :(
@@syliefel gotta remember, some of the traditions that space marines have are extremely deep rooted, some of which may not make sense to people looking in, (heck, look at some cultures around the world, and some of their cultures, and traditions). Just got to keep that in mind.
@@syliefelhistorically the purpose of tabards and surcoats was to wear your coat of arms visible so that your allies and enemies could recognize you, so they’d know not to kill you, in the case of your enemy hopefully know you to be wealthy enough to be captured and ransomed instead of killed, also it just looked nice and didn’t compromise the armor, so why not :). Also there were “jupons”, a padded textile garment worn over a plate cuirass, primarily worn by the French, because they fought the English, and the English had lotsa bows, and even though arrows can’t pierce a breast plate, the arrow shrapnel can be bothersome so it’s better to safely catch the arrow in the jupon. Also it was sometimes fashionable to rivet a layer of linen or velvet over a cuirass popularized by “brigandine” (a type of armor made of multiple small steel plates riveted to a layer of cloth) for purely aesthetic reasons. Sorry for ranting 🥺
Did Magnus do anything wrong? Without spoiling what he actually did, I want you to consider this situation. Lets say that you see someone is about to break into your neighbors house, and you go out of your way to warn your neighbors. You do this by, after seeing that your neighbors doors are locked, kick the door down to go inside and say "scary people are gonna break in!". In that hypothetical situation, did you do anything wrong?
Plus even his own son aka the one who make all of them well some of them not affected into dust and still everyone think Magnus the red is the one who responsible
The grim darkness of the far future has claimed another soul for the Warp. Also anytime you wonder why someone is wearing something over thier armor, just automatically assume it's always just for drip factor.
TBF I think the images he used were probably some of the worse ones. I think some of the tattered cloth looks and such are great, just not the ... white robes over armor snippets that flashed by at that part. Haha
the Alpha Legion are so confusing and secretive, that even Tzeentch is so totally confused, that at some point he believes that he himself could be Alpharius XD
5:45 Warhammer 40,000 is heavily inspired by our true human history. Why cloaks over armor? Look up European knights during the crusades in the mid-ages. A lot of knight monk orders wore cloaks/robes over their armor. And because it looks cool. And in Warhammer, the rule of cool reigns supreme.
As I've said in other comments, I'm aware of middle age styles but I wasn't talking about the cloaks so much as the robes and wrap-styled garbs which looked super plain. I've seen other artwork and figures that do it far better than the examples given. Just the ones that caught my eye made me laugh and were really silly, but a lot of 80's fashion choices are silly to me so far that I'm finding! XD
@@syliefel I believe the reason the robes that the Dark Angels wear are so plain as you put it is that they treat such garb as more a vocation as opposed to a fashion statement. Sort of like a warrior monk feel.

Extra Ultramarine detail: it’s heavily, _heavily_ implied that the Lost 2nd and 11th Legions has their resources allocated largely to the Guilliman and the Ultramarines. Logically, it makes sense that two Legion’s worth of resources would go to the primarch that was best at logistics. But, uh...you can also see why every part of this process made the Chaos Gods’ job a hell of a lot easier when it came time to be encouraging rebellion against the Emperor. Really, a lot of the Horus Heresy stuff can include the phrase “[Thing] was going pretty well. However, because the Emperor is a terrible father...”
i oscillate between "the Emperor was a complete fool" and "they wrote 40k before 30k.. he has to be stupid to setup the scenario they first wrote about"
@@PyrokineticFire1plus, they wrote which legions fell to chaos, as well as several daemon primarchs existing. In order for that to work, you need to explain how they got there. So Angron being found way after Guilliman, even though Ultramar's border was right next to Nuceria, and some of the worst effects Angron underwent could have been avoided. But they wrote the order the primarchs were found in, rather than not locking it in until they decided on a good way to have the primarchs fall. Hell, if Guilliman found Angron, the Red Angel may well not have turned traitor
Angron is one of the most heartbreaking Primarchs of them all. Because before he got the Nails, he was this wide-eyed cinnamon bun. Imagine your pure-hearted White Mage from a JRPG. That was Angron before they lobotomized him.
For the record, Bricky jokes about the Dark Angels not actually being loyalist but that's really just a meme. Dark Angels are pretty damn loyal, they just suck at acting loyal, because they'd rather seek atonement for something nobody knows or cares about over actually helping the Imperium with issues that matter. Their biggest fear is that the Imperium will find out some of their marines turned traitor thousands of years ago and it makes them ultra paranoid. Also, my favorite legion is the Ultra Marines, gotta love the legion who is actually focused on getting stuff done and being damn good at their jobs

A lot of these legions were amazing, I have way too many to choose but my personal favorite got to be Ultramarine, the second I heard that they were proficient in logistics, I loved them. Finally a legion that know that having a well supplied army is the most important, tactics are good but having supplies. Also the blue color really looks good

Night Lords being Bricky's favorite isn't particularly concerning. Short version of why they're likable is that they have some REALLY good stories written about them that give them enjoyable characters who are terrible people yes, but are actually somewhat sympathetic in their own way. Turns out growing up on probably the most depressing planet in the Imperium means they've all got issues and some tear jerker backstories.
Funfact: the type of power armor that the Raven Guard wear (that some Marines in other chapters wear) was built to be more lightweight than other types of power armor. And the first models were given to the Raven Guard for testing, and the test was so successful that they named the pattern of power armor after Corvus Corax.

The tabard/waffenrock that the dark angel was wearing is a real historical thing. It used to be a way to identify your own men on the battlefield and it would have your side’s colors, but the dark angels just wear them because it looks cool.

Something that is very rarely pointed out - Angron was an empath. He could feel other people's emotions. Combine that with the nails and whenever he, or anyone around him, experienced an emotion other than anger, he felt pain. If not for the nails, he could have helped Sanguinius in bringing the other Primarchs together.

the basic idea behind "magnus did nothing wrong" is that Magnus did many things wrong, but most of what he did wrong was done because some people and entities were fucking with him. to name a few: Leman russ and him had a bitter rivalry. still probably do. causing Magnus to go a step too far each time, making a slip every time. Magnus knew of the making of the heresy, and wanted to warn the Emperor, tricked by Tzeentch, he, basically, opened a rift to the warp, flooding the universe with chaos spawns. Magnus tried to stave off the mutations warp powers gave to the thousand sons. made a pact with Tzeentch, once again. but didn't work. now they are almost all dead. Desperate, his second in command tried again to stave off the mutations himself. ended up using a ritual that thanos snapped a good chunk of their legion, making them basically dust piloting armors at the whim of a puppeteer. 1/10 would not recommend also, the empire, accompanied by Leman who wanted to piss on Magnus' ancestry once more, burned Prospero almost to the ground sealing Magnus' fate into asking Tzeetch for salvation, Tzeentch did save him and the rest of his legion. but not without basically eating their souls and making them his slaves. basically, Magnus did really horrible things causing the downfall of his legion, and contributing to the downfall of humanity. but he had pure intentions. so if he wasn't treated as the black sheep because he leads psykers, and if him and his legion had the proper help for their mutations and powers, they probably wouldn't be like that now.

So the reason why he skipped over the 2nd and 11th legions is because officially those two legions had all of their records regarding everything from their primarchs, their homeworld, etc. either expunged or completely destroyed. And it seems like that the reason for may or may not have happened before the Horus Heresy so it isn't known if the Legions themselves had any part in it be they loyal or traitor. Nobody knows why and it's a big fat mystery and that is constantly referenced in the books. Unoffically, I think Games Workshop left those two blank so be a creative free space for people to just make up their own unofficial legion without trying to connect them to back to an already existing legion or primarch. So if you want to make an reverse Death Guard? A loyalist Space Marine chapter focused with having lots of apothecarians (Space Marine field medics) and buffing units up thanks to performance enchaing drugs? then Boom. The reason for the dark angels wearing the taberds is much like the European knights during the Crusades which was worn to keep the armor from getting too hot, as white or very bright clothes are known to reflect more sunlight and remain cooler than darker clothes. And in this reason in the 40k setting, it could be either rank or humility or purity purposes.

the knight templars wearing clothes over their armor is actually something real life knight did at times, during the crusades knights would often wear clothes over there armor so that the sun would not make contact with the armor and making it to hot and cock the pearson in side of it, in warhammer they most likely just wear the clothes over their armor to look cool and linking space marines to old knights, unless the clothes dos somtihg in lore that i am missing.

Or will you go even further beyond and take up the dice of war for the table top game that Games Workshop built all this lore for and uses a quarter of the funds generated by the game to keep this creative machine going?
For context regarding Legions 2 and 11. In actuality they were intended to be the "Make your own Space Marine Legion" factions. One for Loyalists and one for Chaos. But eventually the company Games Workshop decided against it. So now canonically both Legions have committed crimes so severe, so unspeakable that they have been completely erased from Imperial history and even from the memories of other Primarchs. They're aware they existed and were their brothers but the reason they were erased from history have been removed from their minds. At one point Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists dragged the giant stick hanging out his butt over to Terra to confront the Emperor's right hand man Malcador about why and Malcador said "It was you who asked for it." and when Dorn argued against it he was given the memories back and was "Yeah, that was the right call. Take them away again please."
Tbf with Dark Angels, cloth over armour is a common thing in history. What started as protection from heat of Middle East (during crusades), as sun would cook people wearing armour continued as representation of each lord and etc.
I'm new to the channel and a little late to the party, but the ring around the Iron hands planet is there to be a space dock/ shipyard for them. Yeah, bit of a long story but Uzas used to go on rampages when Khorne’s influence took over.

Knights used to wear what are called "surcoats" over their armor...i think the concept came from that in regards to the Dark Angels
Oh yah, I'm familiar! I think the art shown at the time just wasn't... the greatest examples! The wraps, for example! Haha
@@syliefel gotta remember, some of the traditions that space marines have are extremely deep rooted, some of which may not make sense to people looking in, (heck, look at some cultures around the world, and some of their cultures, and traditions). Just got to keep that in mind.
That is a tabard, not a surcoat.

Where Rule of Cool does not reign supreme, Rule of Awesome, Rule of Horror and Rule of Funny will take hold.

Man, he doesn't describe how the Blood Angels are noble. As noble as the Dark Angels if not more. They're also artists, doing poetry, painting and music, iirc, to control their barbarism.

Yeah the Night Lords books are some of the best in Black Library.
And Sevatar is one of the best characters in the Horus Heresy.
Funfact: the type of power armor that the Raven Guard wear (that some Marines in other chapters wear) was built to be more lightweight than other types of power armor. And the first models were given to the Raven Guard for testing, and the test was so successful that they named the pattern of power armor after Corvus Corax.
The huggy boyz are my fav too. Wish there was more stuff on them though. The lack of material for a first founding chapter is criminal.
Need to jerk off the furry sues, gue'la

Something that is very rarely pointed out - Angron was an empath. He could feel other people's emotions. Combine that with the nails and whenever he, or anyone around him, experienced an emotion other than anger, he felt pain. If not for the nails, he could have helped Sanguinius in bringing the other Primarchs together.
The fact that the nails were malfunctioning and killing him probably didn't help him with his anger issues.

5:59 they wear cloaks because the emperor protects through drip
So Syliefel "Gloriously dressed snake man." or "Towering good doggo?"
💦💦💦 decisions are haaaard XD
the basic idea behind "magnus did nothing wrong" is that Magnus did many things wrong, but most of what he did wrong was done because some people and entities were fucking with him. to name a few:
Leman russ and him had a bitter rivalry. still probably do. causing Magnus to go a step too far each time, making a slip every time.
1/10 would not recommend
also, the empire, accompanied by Leman who wanted to piss on Magnus' ancestry once more, burned Prospero almost to the ground sealing Magnus' fate into asking Tzeetch for salvation, Tzeentch did save him and the rest of his legion. but not without basically eating their souls and making them his slaves.
basically, Magnus did really horrible things causing the downfall of his legion, and contributing to the downfall of humanity. but he had pure intentions. so if he wasn't treated as the black sheep because he leads psykers, and if him and his legion had the proper help for their mutations and powers, they probably wouldn't be like that now.
Don't forget that Russ did try and get a hold of him when he arrived in the system. But Magnus refused to respond ( not sure why honestly)

RUclips recommendations is trying to tell me something
A loyalist Space Marine chapter focused with having lots of apothecarians (Space Marine field medics) and buffing units up thanks to performance enchaing drugs? then Boom. There's your missing 2nd Legion, the Sacred Hearts or whatever under Primarch Lazarus Hippcrates. Want a chaos undivided traitor legion that specializes in using feral, mutated war beasts? The tunic over the armor is called a Tabard
All I heard was:
"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite tabard's store in The Rock"
The reason for the dark angels wearing the taberds is much like the European knights during the Crusades which was worn to keep the armor from getting too hot, as white or very bright clothes are known to reflect more sunlight and remain cooler than darker clothes.
And in this reason in the 40k setting, it could be either rank or humility or purity purposes.

"Nigel, you sonava, you've done it again, absolutely brilliant"
the knight templars wearing clothes over their armor is actually something real life knight did at times, during the crusades knights would often wear clothes over there armor so that the sun would not make contact with the armor and making it to hot and cock the pearson in side of it, in warhammer they most likely just wear the clothes over their armor to look cool and linking space marines to old knights, unless the clothes dos somtihg in lore that i am missing.

Or will you go even further beyond and take up the dice of war for the table top game that Games Workshop built all this lore for and uses a quarter of the funds generated by the game to keep this creative machine going?
Another warhammer 40k stuff you should check out is from the channel warrior tier greats vid's
All of the legions are number 1, tbh. Well, maybe except for 2 and 11
Thousand Sons: "We have foreseen every possible eventuality and planned for them all"
Space Wolves: "Prepare to be boarded nerds!!!"
He failed to mention that the salamanders like to burn eldar children
Now I’m imagining one’s an entire legion of Max0rs and the other an entire legion of SsethTzneechs, and I’m not sure which is worse tbh.
The tabards and robes are my favorite part of the Dark Angels and The Black Templars.

I'm new to the channel and a little late to the party, but the ring around the Iron hands planet is there to be a space dock/ shipyard for them.
Also, they got onto their "flesh is weak" thing because they saw (in the Horus Heresy) their Primarch get killed from being too angry.
So they tried to be more in control of themselves by replace limbs and adding emotional blockers, even though Ferrus believed in human strength.
They are depressed really, but still dicks. But I like them.

The Blood Angels are my favorite legion, with my favorite chapter being the Lamentors.
Needs more Votann
Knights (Templars and Hospitallers specifically) wore tunics "robes" over there chainmail/gambison or sometimes breastplates during the Dark Ages. It's not weird lol just look in a single history book about the Crusades, the Knights Templar or a Black Smith book.
The clothing over armor emulates the knights of old. You can search up illustrations of templars, hospitallers, or teutonic knights, and a bunch of them are pictured using some form of cloths over their armor to show off their heraldry.
Seeing a Vtuber watching Warhammer 40k lore puts a smile on my Face
