Man Ive had an OG 509T that keep ticking. Years of use. Its half silver, half black now. Ended up with the newest version for my carry G45. SRO on my main range gun. Enclosed it the way to go since we have options now. I have an MPS piggy back and enjoy the clarity.
Same here. Beat the shit out of my 1st gen 509t. Works great under nods too.
I run a OG 509T as well on a Glock 45 MOS. CHPWS Plates are the way to go.
Solid line up Jon. Hopefully we start to see more enclosed emitter options in the future.
We should be.
Excellent info with a great line up. I put my first MRDS on a glock 17 using a rear sight dovetail mount for the Doctor optics back in 2000. Saw the capabilities it brought to the table, but anyone that had any experience with those optics now they were junk and not a realistic option for a work gun. The optic would not hold zero and the dot would flicker during recoil.
Fast forward to 2009, Trijicon released the RMR and we thought our prays were answered, but they had issues holding zero as well. Took Trijicon a little bit to get the kinks worked out of the RMR to work and hold zero on a reciprocating slide, but they did get it squared away. Now, here we are today with several excellent options. We have come a long way in the past 20 years. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video!
Good stuff. I started with a 507c x2 and it was great for basic concealed carry. Has a side tray battery so no need to remove the optic, has some nice features, and lastly was robust enough for ccw.
These days I use a 509T but I had some lemons. The one I currently have has been good to go for about a year now and having the closed emitter is really nice for cleaning but also ease of mind.
Thanks for the quality content sir!
got an MPS bc I dont have the patience for a P2...glad I did. Love it.
Love mine
Sweet hair cut Jon!
I've been using the EPS and EPS Carry since Nov 2022.
Current gen holosun 507c and 508 use a side tray for the battery so the optic stays in the gun.
Nice, good to know
Ive been running the 507v2 for a little over a year tried the 509 and it felt like i had a block on my hip. My 507 has a small chip in the upper corner of the lense i need to send it in but it still works
Drinking game:Take a Shot everytime he says " Something to think about"
Haha, 2 mins in... Shit faced
1 min in and now I’m so buzzed I didn’t change the channel. Homeboy is pretty when I’m drunk
Love how you described the SRO lol. Just picked one up. Now i'm gonna call it "Fat Cousin"
Lol the visual is unmistakable
How’s that holosun light? Care to share or should we expect a video soon?
I have the ir/vis laser and illuminator/white light model. It's been pretty nice for a few things. The light needs candela improvement and the switches aren't what I want personally. The ir pointer and illuminator are pretty nice.
None of the lasers stay zeroed longer than a mag though. I plan on doing a video on it.
Do you use standard mos plates? I recently had my rmr shear off due to recoil
Nope. I avoid them like the plague.
@@KineticConsulting what plates would you recommend?
@@hammychez9792 cwps or forward concepts have solid ones
@HammyChez I like the forward controls one, the CHPWS guy is kind of unhinged
P2 glass is insanely clear. Like major difference between all of the other red dots.
Yeah but sadly a lot of reports are coming around of the glass fogging 💔
@@jakeminton74 This... I love my aimpoint acro P2 its miles better than my RMR in my opinion. But I have had 2 issues with it minor glass fogging on the inside, and with that i have noticed a small blemish like a chip again on the inner lens.
@@MrJbedo yep. Same with mine. Me and a lot of others are all going back to the rmr lol
Is the 509t GTG with nods?
Yep
Sadly I just can’t trust enclosed emitters for pistols anymore. I’m sure this is more rare but got fog in my 509t and my friends acro also got fog inside it and I’ve seen it’s a common-ish issue online with the p2’s. I know it’s probably rare but it’s nice to know on an rmr that if it fogs up I can just wipe it off
Definitely not a common issue on either of those optics. How did Holosun treat you on this and how did Aimpoint treat your friend?
Because the housings are made in China, yes the ACROs are assembled not made but the Romeo 9 should be a good alternative since SIG actually has shown their factory CNCing optic housings.
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ the ACRO assembly is manufactured I'm China?
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ lmao, coping over your sig purchase I see
509 x2 is rad. Had a gen1 that was a lemon, but the x2 they replaced it with is awesome. Love just the simple circle reticle.
Whats the P2 battery life?
A lot longer than the P1. It's rated at 50k hours at setting 6 but settings 1-4 is a NV setting. I haven't killed mine yet (I've killed the P1 battery twice) but I don't leave it on all the time. It would be reasonable to think it will make it 1 full year on a daylight bright useable setting I want to say but not much longer than that. CR2032s have seriously more energy capacity vs 1225
I carry my g17/p2 everyday. I turn it off for 10 hours a day 4 times a week while working. It usually will last me 3-4 months. My RMRs lasted longer. But it’s top loading battery so it’s not as much of a pain. I use energizer and Duracell lithium batteries.
EPS?
Good optic
Acro gang
So what you’re saying is some optics are so-so, some are so good, so you should chose wisely so as not to make a bad decision 🤔
Okay, so… got it!
What are your thoughts on the Steiner MPS??
