      It is when we can. We are trying to make the 1964 Eldo road worthy and then back onto the 59 Eldo. John

    I'm surprised as to how good the body looks, a lot of the panels are usually rusted out specially when it's a convertible model. Can't wait to see it done, it's been my dream car.

      Good to hear! We're actually working on a 64' Eldorado project as well. You can view that video playlist here >>> ruclips.net/video/OLMvQYfh1Mk/видео.html
      Let us know how your 64' DeVille build goes! We'd love to hear about it.
      Thanks!

      @@Caddydaddy I recently picked up a '64 Eldorado convertible in firemist green with white bucket seats. The odometer shows just over 18k miles. Is there a way to tell through wear items if it's 18k or 118k miles?

    • @Caddydaddy
      @Caddydaddy  3 года назад

      @@ErnstTCB Hi there, great question!
      The first place I would look at are the pedals. They can tell you about the amount of use the car has, as well as a bit about the driving style it was subjected to. (wear on the left side of the brake indicates a left foot breaker, who might have ridden the brakes). Check for wear on the brake pedal pivot. Look at the outer edge of the driver’s seat for wear, especially if any beading or high spots are visible. Check the trunk mat and carpet for wear. Look over the engine compartment and see if it looks like someone has been in there working before. At 18k miles, about all that would have happened is a tune up. See if the engine is clean. Look into tight spots where a pressure washer can't reach. Look at the decals and paint…it should all be in good shape at 18k. You can also get a small USB camera and place it in the spark plug holes to look at the cylinders to see their general condition. Those are the easy things to check. If you decide the car has high mileage, then you can pull the pan and valve covers to clean them and inspect the engine. The amount of sludge in the pan is a great indicator of mileage. If it is very clean, then someone has been in there recently.
      Hope all this helps you out. Thanks!

    Hello,
    You are doing an excellent job. I have a question.
    I need a gas tank for my 1960 Cadillac, but on your site and on other sites, all new fuel tanks (reproductions) are smaller (in height) than the original fuel tank. Why is this so?
    In the 21st century, with a huge number of cnc machines, modern dies and presses, no one can make an exact copy of the original gas tank, or are there other reasons for the smaller gas tank? Could you please advise where I can buy a new gas tank that has the same dimensions as the original one?
    Thank you

    • @Caddydaddy
      @Caddydaddy  4 года назад

      Hey there! We appreciate the feedback. We haven't come across anyone that makes the exact same tank as the factory in terms of dimensions, and not quite sure why either. Your best option is to have yours restored or buy a used one and have that one restored, it you want the exact dimensions. Otherwise, you can always shop from Caddy Daddy and we can help you out.
      Thank you.

      Thank you for your reply.
      Do you know any company that produces body panels for 59-60 Cadillacs? For these cars you can find only floor panels, I also saw door skin for 2 door cars on your site. But it looks like parts like quarter panels, hood, trunk lid, trim, etc. not produced by any company. Everywhere only sheet metal for muscle cars. Do you know someone who produces such parts or is going to start producing them?

    For all the work, I would find it hard not to update it with a modern chassis, disc brakes, etc. Not to mention a more powerful motor, electronic fuel injection. Even at this distance though, I have to admire all the talent to 'make it right' in the tear-down and re-assembly. Outstanding job!

      I've driven a stock 1959 Coupe and it does not need modern stuff to be a great driving car.

    From 2:06 to 2.29, the synth music sounds like a voice saying over and over "whip it from the powder coater, whip it from the powder coater", at least to my ears any way.

    Those X frames were a horrible idea... Buick was like F no... they had to warn all the service stations to never jack the cars up by the corner it was so bad... 4 corner lifts ONLY...

      I also believe it was a very poor design choice. After the crash test
      that Chevrolet staged between a new and old Impala, it has been used as
      justification to say all old cars are unsafe. I would have liked to have
      seen that test with Chrysler products with a box section
      perimeter frame. I do think the modern car would not have fared nearly
      as well as it did against the X frame. Josh

      Yes. My doctor has me on several drugs. At this time, we're only going to do disc brakes and we have done that. Maybe do a fuel-injected tri-power, but we are going to try and get the factory carbs to work first. Thanks for watching. John
