Tem uma igreja no Fonseca (Assembleia de Deus) que minha família frequentava, havia banda e cantavam sempre hinos da harpa, um esplendor! Não sei agora… Pretendo ir lá em algum dia de ceia! Oh yes! Almost all of these hymns we sang in Sunday School.
I grew up in Liberia, West Africa and attended an Episcopal church. We used the Episcopal hymnal for morning services, but when we came back in the afternoon for Sunday School it was another hymnal with most of the Gospel hymns I just heard on this program. It brought back so many wonderful memories! I love it!

You got one! I'm 84 and lament the fact that all these old hymns and Gospel songs are virtually no more and in a LOT of Baptist Churches! They want monotoned 'stuff' (it's NOT music) with NO melody and NO harmony! Yes, they put Christian language to it but to me it's like the concept of a nudist singing a Gospel song! Totally inappropriate and ridiculous!!

My dad was also a pastor - he surrendered to the call in 1961... I was one. He went to see Jesus May 16th in the hospital... his first church was small and the pianist didn't show up til half the sermon was over.... he vowed I would take piano lessons if they afford it. I was 7 then. We left for his 2nd church that October on a plane for Kaneohe, Hawaii. I started lessons in February. Everyone of my teachers worked with me on hymns... my 1st teacher left for college after a year... the 2nd teacher was also a pianist at her church and we went thru our church hymn book... i actually was gifted by our fabulous creator with an ear for music. The songs we sang in church... i could just play... but she made me learn all the songs. Our family was a singing family... I'd play and we'd all gather around the piano. Mama went to see Jesus June of 2020... after that I'd play and it'd make him cry. Now when I play it makes me tear up. But they're in heaven - no tears and no more pain. Praise the Lord!

Oh what a blessing to see my son [43] singing hymns at church... just like Gerald says... keep playing... they're listening... we have a singing family too... oh what a joy for me to sing with my 3 brothers... our grandma put us up front way before we were in kindergarten... i thank God for her everyday... she's singing in heaven's choir or directing something i'm sure...
the comments are right... there is something very calming about singing hymns and the old timey songs... Mansion over the Hilltop is one... my mom used to say she could tell what kinda day i had bc when i came home from school and i'd start practicing... she said i was playing harder if i had bad day... but before the hour was up... all the stress or upset-ness had flowed right out of me into the keys... and i was playing sweetly...
When my mom went to see Jesus... we all got around the piano and sang... my son told his GF... this is what my family does... when someone dies... we sing. It helps to turn the sadness into rejoicing... they're walking those streets of gold... our mom had dementia for 15 years and 9 of that she forgot she could walk and never got out of that bed.... thinking of her up walking in heaven made for happy thoughts.
God Bless All Yall enjoying these songs...

They take me back to growing up, to the singing in my mother tongue at the family altar, to the songs that filter into my room from the Methodist church atop the hill and across my window in the village where I was raised; and they have stayed with me all lifelong! Billows of comfort, beacons of hope and echoes of glory ... these precious hymns of the church.

Dr. Charles Stanley would have loved that more than anything able to just smile so big he would just love to Big Time with all the sing worshiping hymns and it would just put a smile on his face to sing in his church like this

Growing up in church singing these great hymns help prepared my heart to see Jesus. Now they sing hardly and often not at all. Love these videos. Thanks.

There is NOTHING like THE HYMNS OF OUR FAITH! Very few churches sing these now. I think that we are doing an injustice to the younger generations who don't know the richness of these songs.

So many memories of growing up hearing these songs at VBS, church, church camp & my grandpa on Sundays after church at his farm & my mom singing around the house. Some she would sing to my girls when she would visit us. Love the memories each of these songs would bring back.

Mother's favorite hymn, It is Well With My Soul, was sung at her funeral. So fortunate to have had great Christian parents,

Bring back the old time Religion with these beautiful hymns of the Sanctuary instead of all those choruses on Sunday in Worship Service

The church that I attend, when I'm able to attend, always sings hymns and not chorus's . If we sing a chorus, it's the Call To Worship and the benediction.
