Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Hahaha..Millennials!…lol..it’s worth the wait!
Take your time.
Waiting!! Take ur time dude
I’m a new subscriber from today!
Hey Zach, can you do a interview with Jim? Did he own his own farm at one time? How long has he worked on your farm? Was he a professional welder in the past? Seems like it would make for a great video. Thanks for all the content.
I too would like a interview with Jim.
Me too
Me 3
Me 4
Me 4
Your children are the stars of your videos. They are absolutely precious.
Agree, He has some great kids !
hell yeah for showing the modified... come down to East Bay Raceway Park for winternationals next year. Not many years left of that place
Rain....We went from a drought to almost flood conditions over the last 3 days here in S.W.Lower Michigan. June 25-26-27 we got 4.28" of rain. And it rained so far today .20 with more in the forecast. Hope your area received some it it too. Crops here were showing signs of lack of moisture to full recovery. The farms here grow mostly row crops and now are full and green.
30 June here central IL. 5” rain in last week. And I saw two fields Almost fully tasled out.
5-10" night of June 25 Southern Ontario lots of crop under water along lake st. Clair
Zach any chance you can post one of your dirt races live this year? I live WAY TO FAR AWAY to come watch. I'm sure many of your viewers would be extremely interested.
Good call, maybe a list of tracks and races ran, we can look them up on RUclips and watch Zach run!
Love seeing that modified in the video! More racing stuff!!!
@@ryanwilkerson9169 Viking speedway on RUclips, just watched Zach get a 5th in the A main!!👍🇺🇲
That would be a great watch👍
It's been considered but it seems like it would be more work!
I appreciate you giving the date you filmed. I hope you received a good rain over the past weekend. Keep it between the rows.
I use Win 10 and have his town as a fav on the weather map
You can have our rain. Its been raining here for 3 days now. Our corn is about 5 foot and our beans are really bushy and big. We're gonna have an awesome yielding corn and beans this year.
Down here in Southwest Missouri, we've had to go to Liberty link soybeans because Roundup won't touch even 3 inch tall water hemp any more. Even with Liberty, if the water hemp gets over 3 inches tall, it survives. It may get burned a little but it won't kill it. The farmer I help also uses some form of pre-emerge mixed with Roundup for grass that works pretty well. Down here, our corn needs to be pollinating by the 4th of July because we normally get our last good rain around the 4th. We try to plant it around the last week of March to the first week of April.
Are you using enough water and ams. We can smoke waterhemp at any height with liberty.
90 days since seeding and my corn is 9 foot with 30% completed crop ...
Greetings from Greece!!
We just had 6 inchs of rain in our area of west Michigan in the last week. Really the first significant rain all summer. Not complaining but a little to much a little to fast. Other areas had up to 8 inchs. All this came with 6 tornadoes across the state as well. Gotta love it!
Hello from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thanks for sharing your great video’s please keep them coming.
We finally got a bionic box blade. Man those things sure are nice for touching up a driveway. Which they made one where you could adjust the angle of the blades
Around me we have weed problems like crazy. We burn down with either 24d or dicamba, round up, and a couple residual herbicides. Then we post with dicamba or liberty and warrant and some micro fertilizer and fungicide. Almost all of the beans we sold were the extend flex this year.
"She loves to pet chipmunks......... With her teeth." I don't care who you are that right there was funny. And deserves a thumb up from all of us. Lol
Need the peta disclaimer:
"No chipmunk was harmed in the filming of this video, as Zack pokes him with his boot... "are you ok lil fella" and fade out quickly.... lol
My wife and I were in Alexandria Mn for a wedding and watched him it way cool!
i was about to say the same thing lol
Good point

.
Dicamba is the way to go just have to be careful and pay attention to your conditions. Kills water himp in an instant.
you made the correct decision trading for that 9570 and getting a problem handled with the older tractor
Thanks for another great video. Always lots of jobs around farm. Mowing and driveway gravel and loading trucks and washing race car. Wow. I see your planter fixtures still on the shop floor. Have not sold yet??? Am sure writing that check on tractor was not easy. You got a nice one. Ups and downs of keeping equipment current. Oh my. Thanks for the video. Appreciate your time to record. Your drive thru the crops was good except for those no till soybeans. Might end up being ok. Take care and be safe Zach. Thanks. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
Hi zach how are u all . Just watchin ur latest vid . Very gd . It is too . Just noticing that ur kids all have great personalities . Isla is a wee sweetie shes deffo a daddies girl . Im surprised she never came out with u . If u had bn in the tractor shed probbs come out with u . Hope u took lots of pics for her great family which is very important onyx will be looking forward to running the chaser bin again this year no doubt . Plus i dont think itl be long before rihanon wants to drive machinery . Judging by the way they fly around in the polaris etc . U have a great farm its so tidy . Ur machinery is kept in great condition it pays dividends at the end of the day . Anyway all the best pls take care
Zack i see you have a Razr for your kids. just a word of advice. My cousin had one for his grandkids and if they rode into tall grass the air intake for the engine cooling fan would suck grass into the cooling fan and plug up and tear things up after several times of repair he traded it back to the dealer. if you look where the cooling intake is you will notice the chain is chewing up tall grass to get into the cooling intake. hope your kids have better luck!!
My dad always said that a farmer was a man outstanding in his field.
Here in mid Michigan we say shoulder high by the Fourth of July
Thanks for the update .
Ain't nothing better than a good ole farm dog! God bless have a great week.
I love helping out on my uncle's farm, it's my natural habitat, i also work out at sea fishing during the season, mostly in the winter season then farming in the spring, summer and fall. To anyone interested in getting fit, forget the gyms, become a farmer, think about it this way, you're working by the time they get up, you're working by the time they're having their breakfast, you're working while they're in their car / commuting, you're working while they're done for the day and then some more.
Wish our corn field looked like that!! Central Illinois we had 7 inches since Thursday 60 acres of corn knee to waist high under water and 60 acres of beans under water!! Don’t know which is worse dry conditions or too much rain! Hope our anhydrous is still there come August!
Where has Randy been ?? You should do more videos with him . Some of my favorite including ones where you went to other farms (sugar can farm in Florida ).
My only weed prevention is rye mat. You get 2 layers because it breaks down slow, then starts to contribute usable soil nutrients.
Don’t be afraid to diversify that mix some. Some nice vetch and oats. Put down some radish to break up the hard spots. We do pretty well with all the hippie dippy stuff. 😀
we have had tons of hot hot weather for a little bit now and then just had some extremely heavy rain. now the corn is more than 3 feet tall already. maybe like 4 - 5 its hard to tell from where i saw
When you don't have water, the roots go deeper. Not always a bad thing . Praying you get rain.
Authority first and brawl pre emerge takes care of the water hemp and everything else very well. I’ve been doing it for three years now. Beans can not be up when sprayed tho!!
High Zach, it's the 28th and looks like you got some rain. Please let us know if ya did. Sweating out your crops almost as much as you! Good luck, prayers.
You should be here in South Texas. We are getting a lot of slow rain. It is really soaking into the ground.
How far south wat area
Something that would help with that crushed concrete driveway... Use your sprayer and spray it down with water after you grade it so it will set.
Been using that stuff on all of my driveways for years and that's what I do. Only have to re grade every 6months.
Hope you get some rain. Here in central Missouri, we have had anything from 4 to 13 inches of rain in the last eight days. Thanks for the crops tour.
Got 3 1/2 inches of much needed rain in Northern Iowa the other day. Keep sending it. Theres still hope!
I've been watching about a year now. Enjoy every post. My family is 5th generation dairy farmers from north central Iowa. Keep up the great work!
We had a problem with ragweed on our farm. We ended up switching to Liberty Link soybeans. My father in law says that Liberty (glufosinate) works the way that round up used to. It smokes everything.
My word Zack the children are growing up fast , another great video.
Praying that you get moisture very soon.
We got some rain this last Saturday it was well needed we were in the same boat as you in northern Iowa as we hadn’t had any since Memorial weekend
12:38 Best Farmer/Dad joke. Keep it up Zach!!
Market farming is tough. You have my respect Sir and thank you for all the great entertainment!
Central ND most corn is 6-8 inches right now
Been trying to catch up on your videos just thought if you haven’t done it yet would be pretty cool during harvest time to set up a timelapse camera on top of a silo showing you harvesting a nearby field so we can see all the different equipment in motion. Could do one of the yard during busy times as well.
City slicker question, can you use the sprayer and just fill her with water and spray the crops with it to get them some water?
I can’t really say why I like this channel so much. I think it is the family and passing the knowledge from one generation to the next.
Zack that land plain grader is the best for drive ways you did a nice job I would have like to see you do it more.
Our corn here is doing great. Most areas are hip high except for the shaded areas.
Iam from the city’s but I found your videos and Iam loving all them vary cool thank you for the videos god bless you and your family
Thanks for watching!
Toledo area ….we’ve had over two weeks of rain everyday 1” plus daily . I have 3 foot tall tomatoes and will probably end up selling them as watermelon if it keeps on raining
i know this vlog is a few weeks behind but the water in the soil looked great... it wasnt to deep to find.. i hope you have had rain great vlog xx
hi. do you have a video that describe the whole process from preparing the soil to adding corn in the silos? thanks
Zach whenever I'm having a bad day I usually go back watch your dry fertilizer it always puts me in a better mood
Any rain up there this weekend? We had a very welcomed 1.40" on the north side of Rochester and another .2-.3" this morning. The crops around our area are looking much happier now.
I'm severely allergic to grass and hay. This is my fix. Thanks
It's awesome when you can find a how to video with your exact make, model, and year of equipment. What a find!
Yep always helps if you can't remember just RUclips it
Contact the local Ag Extension Station regarding the weed treatment. My plot has beans in the ground and we're intensely interested in what you guys got planned to apply, what ratios, and what the end result is.
Well, you know how farming is; where you’re at it’s dry, and I’m in south Louisiana on a crawfish/rice farm and it’s been raining nonstop for months. I also have a precision land grading company and unfortunately my ditching tractor has more hours on it this year than my scraper tractors. We need sun! Lol
Hope we see you at Casino Speedway July 14th.
My 14 year old terrier along with her 7 year old daughter just love to do the same...with rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks
You can have some of the rain we have had, we are sitting around 5.5 inches over about 2 or 3 days
Gosh we all need more rain this year!
Thought ya planted close to same time I did---April 27th.. Mine is tassling.. when you plant ??
My wife just came in from checking out rain gauge and for the past 1 1/2 day she poured out 4 3/4" of rain !
I wish I could have sent you 3" of it.
Thank you!!
Great video, Zac. And you are such a great dad.
God Bless you and your family. ✝️
Hi Boc.
Any idea the difference in soil temp - planted green vs worked ground? Planted green 80 degree vs 118 degrees on chisel plowed bean. Air temp was 92 degrees. Clay soils N. Indiana
A chipmunk was just wandering around the shop looking for his Hoolahoop!
Great job Anna!
It was Didge, not Anna. Anna is German Shepherd and Didge is Australian Shepherd mix. Go check it again, Smurf.
I live in Western Iowa and we had 100 degree heat 2 weeks ago. The corn looked like pineapple. Last week we received 2.5 inches of rain and the corn is shoulder high on me. I'm 6'4".
Corn in NE Arkansas is about six foot tall, was planted in early May.
I have a dear friend that lives between Corning and Paragould and he’s always calling bragging about his garden and how the crops are doing, sweet corn up here isn’t even knee high! 7,200 ft! Lol!
Ohhh so I see!!!
These are historical videos to remind you and the others where you put things and how to assemble / disassemble the equipment!! Smart!!!
Hello from Brazil Zack!
Can you please always enable the subtitles, so its better for me to understand!
Thank you
Good Morning Great Millennial Farmer Video, Thanks for sharing, Have a Great week
I understand the spacings for the corn but why are the spacings wide in the soya we farm in UK where the plants are close together just a curious question.
In Michigan corn is head high and it is July 7
That small bespoke post knife and sheath is awesome. Anyway to purchase that by its self?
We got several inches of rain in Chicago in the last week.
Roots from rye are somewhat choking the bean roots from spreading out, even though they are dead. Best to kill rye in fall so frost can tear roots up in spring. Saying that corn needs rain in July and soybeans need rain August.
I love that you start off with the puppers most videos
Hey Zack I'm out standing in my field. Field in Michigan
Hi fielk davek.
Prayers for the rain y'all need.
Seen your “RUclips” interview the other day. It was pretty good. And yes, Jim would be great to have on Off the Husk.
Would irrigation work for you, or are there technicalities that prevent you from installing some?
Southwestern Ontario Canada got 11in more than they hoped for got their fingers crossed for some sun
I'm wondering how those poly plates are on your 5th wheels are holding up. Would you recommend them because I told my boss about them because we haul feed and don't unhook the trailers much to grease them. Thanks
Zach thanks for showing crops, as an ex farmer that's what I like to see in addition to your awesome family and Jim
Glad to see you show more of the race car
Ready for a video 👍🏻
Just checked the weather radar and it looks like you're finally getting some rain in MN!
I would love to give you all the rain we are getting here in south Louisiana
Ive got 7 inches of rain corn still looks good beans looked good until it flooded
Boy I sure do love comedians oh by the way when it gets cold this year and you're out there harvesting make sure the zinc is not Frozen at least that's what you told me a couple years ago have a good day God bless🙏🚜👍
All three of my dogs started barking when you started the semi as well
Could you fill the sprayer full with water and spray over the corn and soybeans?? Or wouldn’t it work?
They do grow fast, too fast. Congrats to mom and dad.
Good to see the 6 X have fun this year and be safe farm looking good
