As a software developer in the ag field, all I can say is sorry from all of us...well those us that actually care about the products we build anyway. This video was really eye-opening and should be required watching for anyone building software like this.
As a programmer of 26 years I'm glad I don't have software that runs on equipment like this. So many variables. And when it's needs to work it needs to work now. Not saying I don't feel good software just saying I don't think I could deal with it LOL
Another farmer on RUclips was answering questions from his subscribers live when he was asked if he was redundant in the planter since the "robot" could do it all. Your issue with the equipment showed just how one sensor can mess up the entire planting process. So his answer was no, the human cannot be replaced since the human was the only "tool" that could fix every issue as they happened. I also point out how remote robots on Mars have to be build in the simplest way possible to not fail and Mars is not the friendly environment that the Earth is by comparison. People-built equipment has a lot of parts and therefore many possible points of failure. I'm an I/T Specialist now for 28 years and I can say Confusious was right, "Shit happens!". With Aloha from Hawaii...
I give farmers so much credit for their patience with the seemingly unending barrage of problems they encounter. If it's not electronic, it's mechanical, on top of that you have tight windows of weather you try to work in and then you have another malfunction. As much as I'd love to work on a farm again, I think I'd blow more head gaskets than a powerstroke.
Well he did a half decent impression of Forrest Gump saying it, so it was guessable even if you didn't know the reference for sure. Zach is always so funny with his dead pan delivery.

How about a 7721 pto powered, towed combine, a 444 head, with a 4440? That’s how I started. Fill two wagons, hop on that tractor, go put it up. The drier was leaving it in the field long enough, back to the field, hop in the 4440 and start the process over again. Seed? Hell, I planted bin corn one year and it worked! Open pollinated, did that a few years. My pigs and chickens loved it! 10% protein!
Once you get this new stuff figured out, its way faster than the old school, considerably more efficient which leads to better more accurate planting which results in better yields. Old school still works, just not as good.
This video is exactly how my days feel. Start early fight some problems with the monitor. Load seed watch the sun go down. Seems like they go by as fast as your video too.

Thanks for the planting video. These new planters are a huge computer being pulled through the field. Wow. For someone not understanding modern day technology this would be a struggle. Zach, you do a real good job of working these systems. My compliments to you. Really interesting equipment now days. Great when all is working on the planter but a headache when not. That's because he upgraded for his OnlyFans. We wanted HD tractor porn.

My general rule is that if you think all of your equipment is in perfect working order, you just haven’t tried to use it yet. :)
If you didn't run into issues you haven't been to the limit or haven't been on full send yet, as I like to call it. 😁

Things like this make me glad we run 30+ year old equipment, nothing wrong with a 7000 planter with markers and a 4450 tractor

Well, whenyou send a boy to do a man's job, it all makes sense! Just put Jim In the planter, Get R done Jim!....

Un-plug it and plug it in again. Works for my cable box. And if that doesn't work, tap it on the side a few times. That worked on our old, old tv.😎
Watching you work with the plug in on row #4, I am reminded of the Old Nintendo cartridges. Gotta blow the dust out!
