    My break barrel rifles are like that..one day they can shoot a dime. And the next day I have to Reset my scope.. but not on my real rifles or pump Daisy 880..but I kinda like your new rifle.. I was looking at a 22 pistol today. Thinking about buying it for $250 bucks at the gunshop. It holds 17 rounds..long grain..

      When I think about it, there are a ton of variables when it comes to different types of airguns. The power output being consistent, the secureness of the lock up on a break barrel, the movement between the barrel and pressure tube of the gun that can occurs while pumping, pellet inconsistencies, the shooter trying to compensate for gun movement using a loose hold with a springer or gas ram, etc, etc. It all serves to make the hobby both frustrating and interesting to figure out. 😄
      Something I thought about with this gun is I should be gripping it tight rather than loose. I don’t need to be compensating for movement, let the recoil system do that.

    My ZRS out of the box (with a scope and JSB 18.13 pellets) had excellent accuracy. After about 500 rounds the groups started to open up. After disassembling the gun, I found out that it is just a regular air rifle (with dovetail rails) stuffed in a chassis. The reason for the inaccuracy was the wear between the chassis and internals. The scope is mounts to the chassis and not the gun, so they were pointed in different directions. I figured out how to shim the internals to remove the movement between the gun and chassis and the accuracy is better than new. I also own a Diana 56TH which will never have this problem because the scope is mounted to the gun, but it is tough on scopes because of the recoil.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  Месяц назад +1

      @@dtm6190 this is a great description of how it works. I’ve never seen one disassembled but this matches what I’ve read about the ZRS system. I can see if the bushings wear the tolerances would come out of spec and allow for too much movement. If only shooting iron sights it wouldn’t be an issue but a scope would create an alignment issue.
      I suppose it could be argued that the pros of the recoil system outweigh the cons for the average shooter. Rather than relying solely on the shooter’s technique and experience to counter recoil the ZRS will and on average provide better accuracy in more situations. This is me hypothesizing but also I recently experienced how difficult it was to shoot my extremely accurate Diana Mod 34 off hand at can bottoms as opposed to my Air King off hand. I’ve never had my Air King out in the field but I suspect it’d be very sensitive to dirt and grit intrusion into the rail system. I’m speculating that this ZRS system might be better protected for those elements in the field?

You’ll get tons of opinions about what to get, some informed, some not informed. Also it all depends on what you plan to do with it, how often you plan to shoot it and as always how much you want to spend.
      The best value and performing airgun I bought this year was a remanufactured .22 cal Gamo Swarm Hornet break barrel repeater. It was $105 shipped and it’s been very accurate, easier to shoot than a springer, so far it’s been reliable and it’s easy to cock and very versatile as you can target shoot, plink or eliminate up to squirrel sized pests. I’ve had quite a few guns that cost twice as much or more that were not accurate.
      But if you wanted to buy only one airgun that’ll last forever, you can’t go wrong with a quality German spring piston break barrel. But it’ll be expensive and don’t be surprised if you can’t hit things with it until you learn how to hold it properly so you can shoot accurately.
      A Crosman 2100 or Daisy 880 pumper is only $60 and are accurate and way easier to shoot accurately than a break barrel springer or gas ram gun.
