As a musician..as most other musicians probably realize..THIS is when youve mastered songwriting! Three or four chords...doesnt mattrr..its the EMOTIONAL BUILD and release that reaches people.
I never was a big cave fan, but this song changed my mind, this gives me the chills everytime. seeing nick cave and the bad seeds live is now on my bucketlist
I've seen Nick MANY times now. I can say without a doubt...this song live is even more amazing. Nick puts on an amazing live show, as others will concur.
I have been diagnosed with a c.... of a thing - motor neurone disease - this songs helps lift the heavy burden. Warren ellis legend - he and nick collaborate so well together...watch The Proposition x

One of the few songs that I recurr when I feel lonely and misunderstood. Like a visit to an old friend. This has carried me on so many lonely and hopeless nights, even to a heartbreak. The sequels are still there, but stings a lot less than it did almost two years ago. Thank you Mr Cave 🙏
I've seen him live twice, once in summer of 2014 and again in October 2018. He just gets better with age, and is becoming more of an elder statesman of rock. He's come far from his Birthday Party days.
This song live is another thing altogether don’t understand how warren gets the sound he gets… it’s ridiculous spine tingling electricity absolutely orgasmic
I only wish I hadnt heard it so I could re-experience how I felt when I first heard it. I instantly knew I would never stop listening to it. It speaks to those of us who have souls and empathy for our our kindred spirits that use music to connect. I know no one who has commented below but also know everyone of you could be a friend. enjoy :)
Yessss! I was absolutely reeling on first hearing, which happened to be when Distant Sky was broadcast in cinemas last year. I'm sure you can appreciate the utterly visceral impact of hearing it first in a live version and on a huge screen. I was late to The Bad Seeds party, but oh boy, I hooked from that very moment, and hooked I will remain.
Its his 'great' work that unites us all, I feel. As I share within it and drink from the emerald cup as well as he and others just like him. The only expression of 'dreamspeak' (that ancient language) is through such a work! Beautiful and timeless!
Last year I was in Rome for him. I paid the ticket just to experience live this and Higgs Boson Blues. That night my vision on music and passion changed. If you have the chance, go. Just go.
I saw him live last week in Belgium. Always liked him, songs like Henry Lee etc. Seeing him live blew me away, saw pearl jam for the first time live that weekend but it was Nick cave who blew me away
Erin Brown Yep been 30 years since I bought the Birthdays Party album- ' Prayers on Fire' Loved what he has done. Felt like I have grown up with him living in Melbourne. Really sorry for him and his family's loss. Really sad.
I saw 20,000 Days on Earth last summer in a park on a big screen, in the rain, under a tree. The concert at the end with this song completely blew me away. Goosebumps. Absolutely breathtaking.
most people assume dylan, lennon are the at the top of songwriters.....wrong,mr cave surpassed them long ago, those other writers or musicians stopped being relevant in their 30s,nick,at 60 is putting out great lyrics and songs,no one has ever done that,he is absolutely amazing
All the writers you mentioned are brilliant and timeless, and Lennon arguably did his best work in his 30’s then retired from public life at 35 until his muse would not allow him to live in the shadows and out of retirement John emerged, and he was almost immediately murdered thereafter, at aged 40. So, tragically the world can never know what Lennon might’ve created, well into his 60s. He may have even collaborated with Cage.
It's so transcendent... I love this song, how it accelerates. I also love this song so much because it got me kicked off of Facebook for 24 hours. I'm supposed to look at what I've done wrong or whatever, but FUCK Facebook for being angry at me for putting this song up. Is it about the feotus on the leash part? I can't know. America is a shithole.
I wasn't a fan of nicks music I knew red right hand , who didnt , and to be honest I never listened enough to give it a chance , ah so tonight I come across this song and let's just say I eat my words this is an amazing song absolutely brilliant
I had never heard of this band. I primarily listen to bee bop jazz, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, King Cole etc. I was flipping channels and I stopped at PBS and this band was on. I was writing so I left it. What made me leave it was the crowd...and a woman swaying to the music. So I stopped and listened and JUBILEE ST began. I listened and loved. So I looked up the name of the band. I've listened to this song and read the lyrics at least a dozen times since then. I'm in!
the older i get the more i respect nick cave
First time hearing this song. Had to listen again. Masterpiece!!!!
Had to dig it gentlier...
Yup…Nick is a master
I adore the subtle speeding up of this song.
Man... this song opens up so many memories...
For the first time I heard Cave in my car. It was Jubilee Street and I had to pull over and listen. Fantastic song.
NO song has ever stayed my favorite as long as this one has
Nick Cave was faboulous last night on Exit and this song was something I never hear before like miracle
As a musician..as most other musicians probably realize..THIS is when youve mastered songwriting! Three or four chords...doesnt mattrr..its the EMOTIONAL BUILD and release that reaches people.
Another one of those Cave song that continue to sing in your head years after you last heard them.
I never was a big cave fan, but this song changed my mind, this gives me the chills everytime. seeing nick cave and the bad seeds live is now on my bucketlist

Nick is fantastic live. I’ve seen him live a few times and he is sublime!
Saw him on a festival while it was raining, was kinda magical, a true experience
The woman in the photo album is Susie Cave? His wife? I love them

Bloody brilliant stuff, only a guy of nicks caliber could put out a masterpiece like this so far into his career
On Jubilee street there was a girl named Bee
She had a history but she had no past
When they shut her down the Russians moved in
And I'm to scared, I'm to scared to even walk on past
She used to say, "All those good people down on Jubilee Street
They ought to practice what they preach
Here they are to practice just what they preach
Those good people on Jubilee Street"
And here I come up the hill
I'm pushing my own wheel of love
I got love in my tummy and a tiny little pain
And a ten ton catastrophe on a 60 pound chain
And I'm pushing my wheel of love on Jubilee Streets
Oh, look at me now
The problem was she had a little black book
And my name was written on every page
Well, a girl's gotta make ends meet even down Jubilee Street
I was out of place and time, and over the hill
And out of my mind on Jubilee Street
I ought to practice what I preach
These days I go downtown in my tie and tails
I got a foetus on a leash
I am alone now, I am beyond recriminations
Curtains are shut, the furniture is gone
I'm transforming, I'm vibrating
I'm glowing, I'm flying
Look at me now
I'm flying
Look at me now
Thank you!
We're in 2020, but this song is still a powerhouse of sonic and lyrical brilliance. Nick Cave and Co. continues to be a force of nature.
...And it continues in 2022 !
Man, this guitar sound is vicious!
Oh Warren´s violin entry at 2:19...always goosebumps….La Grande Bellezza. Qué canción más bonita.
Uma sonoridade belíssima ,música linda uma das minhas favoritas 😍😍❤❤.
Look for the film clip with Ray Winstone ,super clip go's very well with this song . Super LP . This one as all of Nick Caves music
5.05 more goosebumps - God I love this.
Your "Jubilee Street," Nick, is terribly haunting and highly addictive. Guess, U know that, Nick.

❤I felt that
this song is a life-changer for me.
just saw him live. most spiritual experience of my life
Same. I've never felt that way at any other concert, and I've been to quite a few.
Jealous as.
Wish I was there with you.
I've seen him live twice, once in summer of 2014 and again in October 2018. He just gets better with age, and is becoming more of an elder statesman of rock. He's come far from his Birthday Party days.
I've gotta go see these live, to give my mind some peace.
Added to my funeral playlist
I listen to this every day. It's my religion.

My god, 3k time listening again n again 🤦♂️
one of the best songs that i ever heard
I saw this performed last night at Exit Serbia . Absolutely magical.
Just saw 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH. Had immensely goosebumps at the end as this song was performed.
yes me too
Jeffrey Lebowski It was really the best possible ending.
Jeffrey Lebowski Right?!?!?!? Seeing that movie actually made this song even better- now I have that visual to go with it.
+Jeffrey Lebowski SAME! The montage at the end was so powerful!
+Jeffrey Lebowski The melody still keeps echoing in my head. It's so captivating!
that guitar riff always gives me the chills
Fuck this man is an absolute genius. Great song
LOVE this song,it's write at 3 may 1974🙏💥❤️😊
With Nick playing the piano live.. Absolutley awesome.
Saw Nick Cave for the first time live last weekend and this song was just beautiful live!!
This song live is another thing altogether don’t understand how warren gets the sound he gets… it’s ridiculous spine tingling electricity absolutely orgasmic
This reminds me of Game of Thrones. Great song.
This murders you and revives you at the same time.
Been dealing with a chronic health issue for some years now; the line: "a 10 ton catastrophe on a 60 lb chain" has some brutal authenticity to it.
Same. Im sick at 34....and chaos spirals around me...and Im looking so desperately for beauty.
How come that line? Does it mean anything in particular or just the heaviness?
Same here. I felt that line in my bones.
The album cover reminds me of the back cover of Syd Barretts debut LP from 1970 The Madcap Laughs - man with a naked woman in an empty room.
I only wish I hadnt heard it so I could re-experience how I felt when I first heard it. I instantly knew I would never stop listening to it. I had the pleasure and opportunity to witness this masterpiece live in Berkeley at the Greek ,WOW!! June 29th 2017 I believe.

well you got a bit of back cataloguing to do then,,,
C Howard welcome aboard
If you haven't heard The Birthday Party, one of his first projects; it's a solid dose of angsty post-punk from the first wave of such.
"She had a history, but she had no past"
Thank you for making a trully brilliant song, i am very grateful, this kind of thing inspires me to be myself and not be fearful
