I once met a woman who was the most beautiful woman i have probably ever seen. she was in her 50s with salt and pepper hair, smile lines and crows feet, cellulite and sagging skin. when i complimented her and her natural beauty, she told me that she allows herself to age because she has lost friends who will never get to age. that has stuck with me for YEARS now and is why i’m not worried about aging. don’t get me wrong, i take care of my skin, but i don’t worry about getting wrinkles or turning gray because aging is a privilege that we often overlook.

Throwing away microfiber rolls i think is more of a mechanic thing, after working on cars all day, if they get SOAKED IN LITERAL CAR OIL/GASOLINE, to the point you wouldn't want to put them in your home washing machine. 😡Not if they just get a little dusty from interior dirt!!

This was also my thought. I have occasionally bought "rag" packs (not actually rags, generally lint-free undyed cotton scraps) from the auto supply shop and I use them for applying stain/paint/oil etc in my art practice, I reuse them until they become so saturated they don't work anymore and then they do get tossed because you literally can't clean them and generally they are so crunchy they can't get repurposed. If you're buying that to just like, clean stuff around the house, get a good towel and put it in the laundry, you don't need this.

Haven't watched the whole video yet, but the "microfiber towels" look a lot like what I would call "shop towels", which are basically a heavy duty paper towel that leaves less lint and can stand up to harsher use around machinery, grease, etc. Sometimes they can be rinsed and reused a couple times, but they are not really reusable in the sense of being machine washable or having long-term longevity. These towels are okay to clean the inside of your car with, but they're kind of a stupid choice--just use an actual microfiber cloth instead.

I always give the same piece of advice: dont waste money on unnecessary stuff (especially if its only for aesthetics) and dont spend of money on things for a puppy they will grow out of fast. Instead invest in a very very good quality puppy food, and on training. A good diet in the puppy stage, and a good foundation of training will serve your puppy well into old age. An expensive rhinestone harness that will not fit them in two weeks will not. Spend the money in the right areas. In terms of bathing, a good quality puppy shampoo and good brushes (especially for a puppy like the one in the video with a curly coat) are the important things, not stickers and matching towels for an animal that cant see pink.

I'm a young feeling 64, and I don't use TikTok. What silly videos and products are being promoted! An anti wrinkle straw? Young people are so afraid of aging! Wrinkles are just signs of experience. You'll look better with a few wrinkles, not with a soul-less frozen face. There's so much over consumption, and most items end up in the garbage in a very short amount of time. I try my best to buy less and re-use items that I already own,

For tok tok 1 theres a product called unpaper towels which is meant to be washed and then repacked into the roll, it sticks to itself, sure it isnt microfiber but if the appeal is to have the little roll it works for that purpose

I first saw uggs when living in Australia where they were worn as house slippers during winter. Home heating is, or was not great thirty years ago so uggs make great house slippers. They are thé worst for rain where they basically act as sponges.

YES! Thank you, same here in my country, NZ. Our heating is awful. We don't have great home heating so we often wear things like that around the house.

We have the mud buster (the dog leg washer) and we use it all the time. But we use it when we don’t want to give our dog a full bath. He’s a doodle and his paws get so muddy in the winter and spring when it’s wet outside.

‘Here’s a pack of towels, to throw away or wash if you want to!’
‘Here’s a pack of underwear, to throw away or wash if you want to!’
‘Here’s a pack of silverware, to throw away or wash if you want to!’
😂😂 what on earth is with the microfiber towels that we might just throw away after a single use!???? That is so insane I laughed out loud in my car

  • @Aleatoire9
    @Aleatoire9 2 месяца назад +11

I could see the microfiber towel being disposable if it gets like, disgustingly dirty with car oil or fluids (or things like vomit or feces in the case of kids or pets), but not if you are just using it to clean dust 😢 but also there are paper towels and other things to use instead if you really need to clean up such messes!

I feel that with a lot of amazon must-have videos, they use the product, try to make some sales, and return the product. They get their money back, and they get commission. I especially think this when it's products you only see once or twice.

Aging is a beautiful thing. It shows wisdom and knowledge.
An old painting is worth so much more than a freshly pqinted one, as long as it is cared for, respected and not worked on.

22:30 you can also literally just rent a slushy machine! My moms friend has done that in the past, for pool parties. It’s a fun little novelty item so that all the guests can make a slushy and have a fun drink and memory, but it’s not a daily use item. It’s WAY cheaper to rent than to buy one, and if you only use it one or two days in a year, it makes more sense.
All in all, consumerism is a curse and people need to learn that you don’t need to buy everything you see just because it’s cool or novel. It’s truly just a waste of money, why buy something you will only realistically use once, maybe twice? All of these flashy items, clothing and gadgets that influencers insist you need lead people to being fiscally irresponsible. It’s truly worrying how many people don’t think about where they’re throwing their money.
edit- never mind the environmental aspect, I didn’t even touch on it, but the reality is that these items will end up in a landfill one way or another

4:43 not to detract from the point, but the idea is that you roll them back together with a slight overlap & the friction holds them until you pull one off again. But that is a lot more work than just throwing them in a drawer & I can't imagine these influencer types are going to bother & yeah it's too many for the average home

I use the little reusable towels in place of a paper towel, so I actually go through a lot of them per day. They're very thin, not like a typical microfiber towel, so they can't be used more than 2 or 3 times before they get too wet. I have kids, so we do laundry constantly. I just throw the used ones in with every load. If I didn't do laundry every day, I would easily need 50+ to avoid using paper over the course of a few days. All to say, I agree with you on most of these, but vehemently disagree on that one. Those towels have cut my family's paper towel usage down drastically.

Microfiber towel roll is crazy because when using the individual versions it's hard to stop the cycle of wash and reuse until the towel is very old, but having a whole bunch of new ones at hand immediately would compel a person to throw the last one they used away. Why wait for it to dry and be clean when you have other 50 new ones right there.
Also I think the individual wrappings for clothes and other things is subtly meant to resemble the packaging of new products. The feeling of a new item is nice, and what works best to keep that feeling if not plastic packaging that makes your things look like they just left the store. It's incredibly unnecessary though, so much waste there
I agreed with all of your points. I'm subscribing :)

That’s what I thought about the plastic “storage” solutions too- it’s simulating the feeling that something is “new” and it’s sort of twisted that advertisements and overconsumption have broken our brains that hard to associate plastic with new.

I have 3 cutting boards. A large bamboo one, a small wooden one and a medium glass one. Neither one of them cost over 10 USD, but the prices are different here. The glass one is my go to for meat and stuff that tends to leak color, such as beets (easier to clean and even though in the dishwasher). When I need tu cut something small I would use the small wooden one, but before I had that I'd even use a flask small plateand it worked just fine. So yeah, 2 cutting boards might just be what you need.

I bought a Dooney and Bourke bag from a thrift store, it was $25 (OG retail is was over $200) the outside just needed to be cleaned with some leather cleaner and it looked brand new! The only downside was a couple large pen stains on the liner but once my stuff was in the bag you couldn't see them! I would rather use something that still has some life in it then just buy some fast fashion from Amazon.
