got my fourth tattoo yesterday and it was the first time someone offered this, honestly like it much more over the “let it breathe and just be careful” method
my mom and I got a matching tattoo last year. she was like "oh we need to wash our tattoos" next day. and she was like here I'll help you. she proceeded to scrub it with one of the roughest wash cloths in existence. I almost cried. like.... please don't mess up my new ink, yo. that shit hurt. I usually clean them with unscented plain soap, and my hands. and then plain unscented lotion after. I'm so anxious about ruining new tattoos.
@@sweetest_weasel8132 holy shit! "Wash" means to get it wetnwith warm soapy water and gently rub with your fingertips! Yikes man, i cant believe she did that! The goal is to get rid of the exudate seeping from the wound because thats how scabs are born.
Man I hate saniderm because the adhesive irritates my skin and makes it worse when it pulls with movement. I had a red ring around my most recent tattoo for a month after pulling the saniderm off and it was itchier for much longer than previous tattoos. But for people who don't have adhesive sensitive skin it's so convenient!
People don't know that you have to pick at the edges of saniderm everyday a little bit or you can develop a red line where it pulls the skin around the edge and sometimes it is permanent.
Yes, it's like Tegaderm and Op-Site clear occlusive dressings, and it's great unless you're sensitive to adhesives. You'd probably get the same reaction to hydrocolloid "blister" dressings too. Silicone medical tape is a great alternative for the people who are allergic to most adhesives. It's repositionable too.
Oh I love this stuff. I won’t get tattoo without it now. Especially if it’s in an area that has friction. Like on foot or area that’s rubbed by clothes a lot. Although I always had it put on by tattoo artist at end of tattoo
if you can put it on like 4 hours later, it works so much better. less of a sack forms as there's less oozing and it stays on great and doesn't feel as tender
@@donxgraphics you should keep it on a minimum of three days but you can even keep it for a week if your skin allows it and theres no leaks. its great because by the time you take it off it feels like the tattoo is already partly healed and you have to deal with the washing and lotionings a lot less.

Saniderm is great as long as you follow the instructions. I've heard and seen too many horror stories of people getting Saniderm put on right after the tattoo and just leaving it there for months, FUCKING MONTHS, and then come back to the shop pissed off and asking "why is my tattoo infected". So please everybody do what this person does and follow instructions

My husband's first allergic reaction was to this stuff. Blisters left holes in the tattoo where the skin needed to grow back leaving patches that need filled in. I think everyone should test this on the inner elbow before using on tattoos
Tattoo artists dont have the same advice across the board. I've had three different artists, and they all have had slightly different washing solution/schedule instructions. None of them have had me keep the tattoo covered for more than 24 hours after getting it done. They have each recommended different products for keeping the area from drying out and flaking while it heals.
That’s only because he probably finished late and she didn’t plan on showering that night. So she slept with it wrapped overnight so it won’t dry out once she reapplies a wrapping. He most likely initially wrapped her with Saran Wrap then was instructed to apply the waterproof bandage after she was able to wash it the next day.
I've had I don't know how many artists over many years and they've all said to care for it differently. Honestly. The one that's held color vest and still looks the most like it did the first year was the one that I literally did nothing to. He told me to cover it till the next day then don't F with it. Wash it carefully with a mild soap and leave it the hell alone. Healed quicker and looks better than pretty much any of my other tats. He was really good tho so it's not just because of the fatter care.
It doesn't scab, so you get cleaner lines and a better tattoo in the long run. I wish this was a thing 15 years ago, it works so well. Also, your plasma is trapped on the wound which helps it heal twice as fast.

Interesting stuff. They're even having a tattoo festival in town. I've managed to get through life for 66 years without a tattoo. But they weren't really popular when I was growing up.
not sure what "Artists" recommends to rip a sticker off a tattoo to help a tattoo. the faster your tattoo drys up the more ink you hold in treat it like a cut or a scrape.
I used tegaderm for road rash and it was phenomenal. Honestly love this technology for surface wounds, and I'm so glad more tattoo parlors are recommending it.
Sanaderm was invented for operations and was originally called opsite tape. Now you can get it from multiple companies with multiple names but it’s a god sent for a lot of different dressings and treatments Thank you for showing another way of using it. Looks awesome.
My husband and I just wash our tattoos twice a day and apply ointment for the first few days, then just reapply ointment when it's dry for a week or so. My very first tattoo was covered, and it took forever to heal, and it looked gross while it healed. The only time a tattoo gets covered in this house is if my husband rode his motorcycle to get the tattoo.
You're fabulous! I used this for my arm and ended up with blisters on the edges. Which actually hurt pretty bad. Did you have any issues with saniderm? I had to remove at day 4 and the 2nd session could only last 2 days with it on. I was fine during tattooing so I have good pain tolerance...this blistering though 😁

I remove my Saniderm in the shower so this as close as it gets 😂 ruclips.net/user/shortst0Xmaz0Z1Qo
So cool seeing different ways of tattoo care
Everyone has a different way and this is just one way I heal mine 🙂
I love it.. My tattoo artist always has me use those and my tatts come out gorgeous.. But I left it on til it gets squishy and ink is mixed inside like what happens with a burn boil.. It's super easy and makes your tattoo heal better and last way longer!!
This is the coolest tattoo I've seen in a long time, incredible!!!!
I got this on my last tattoo I got and omg it was such a relief for me..
Makes a huge difference from what I had to do on my previous 6 tattoos
It's a great way to heal tattoos if you can use it!
My husband and I just started doing this with our tattoos and they heal so much better and look great. I don’t think I will ever stop.
tattoo artist here, i use these!
This is fantastic and where has it been all my life!
Your tattoo artist did a great job
Thanks!
That's the best stuff
Hello, Nice to meet you, My name is Joe Stanek, What's your name?
Nice 👍🙂
That tattoo is Awesome!!!
Thanks!!!
neat fact, saniderm, second skin, and other similar products used at tattoo shops were originally developed as a dressing for burns
Beautiful tattoo but I seen some black lift when you pulled it off to reposition, be careful with Tagaderms!😘
OMG! You have HELLO KITTY too! I love it!!!!!!!!
I love this stuff it holds my dexcom g6 down when the sticky part peels off
I use this over my pain patches, it's absolutely brilliant
It really is amazing!
Works like a charm!!!
I love that tattoo
Thank you!!
It’s kinda crazy how much has changed in the tattoo world. I’ve seen this but never used it… it’s been a while since my last tat. This has GOT to be better than the old way…
I still use the old way also. It just depends on the tattoo and the placement
Interesting stuff. They're even having a tattoo festival in town. I've managed to get through life for 66 years without a tattoo. But they weren't really popular when I was growing up.
that's a nice tattoo
I had that for my first tattoo too! We call it second skin here, because it's basically one :)
Your tattoos are gorgeous ❤
not sure what "Artists" recommends to rip a sticker off a tattoo to help a tattoo. the faster your tattoo drys up the more ink you hold in treat it like a cut or a scrape.
I used tegaderm for road rash and it was phenomenal. Honestly love this technology for surface wounds, and I'm so glad more tattoo parlors are recommending it.
I've never heard of this and I have 4 I just use coca butter it's amazing my tattoo healed within 2 days
Beautiful work? Props to the artist 💯
My last tattoo I used this. The color is still amazing. No scabs, no iching...I'll never go back to how I used to care for my tattoos
It really is a great way to heal your tattoos. People seem to either really love it or really hate it!
I love that tattoo it looks amazing
Ive always just kept it covered overnight and then let it air dry for the next week or so. All my tattoos look fairly vibrant years later
I really needed this for the portrait I had done 23 years ago
I love the tattoo.
I healed every tattoo this way besides my first color tattoo AND ITS THE BEST METHOD. Seriously.
Saniderm essentially large Tagaderm. It's used fire scratches and other wounds to keep them wet to reduce or eliminate scarring.
Really intriguing to see next part as I have loads of tattoos some have been murder to heal 😢
Dang I can’t wait to get my next one. Love ur tattoo !!!! Ahhhhj I’m totally jealous lol
Thanks and I'm looking forward to my next one also!!
Me and my mom are planning on getting matching tattoo’s any advice for me?
First - I think that's awesome and I love this. I say have fun, make sure you both eat a healthy breakfast, bring snacks and water and give your Mom a hug for me
My artist spoiled me and used it for my first tattoo, it wasnt until my second that i realized how great it really is. So much easier to take care of, less itchy and scabby and it healed so quickly. I only use it now
