Great video! Multiple things possibly affecting your speeds. For instance, you have both the ISP router and tplink router running in close proximity which will cause interruptions. You'll want to put the ISP router/modem into bridge mode and disable all wireless transmission.
If you're going to compare the two, don't run them consecutively. Run all your tests on the ISP device first then run all the same tests on the new router.
In my house I have the Archer ax2100 and 800Mbps from my ISP. On my ISP router on Wi-Fi I would get an average of about 425Mbps down and 23Mbps up. On my tplink I get on average 610Mbps down and 25Mbps up.
I'm 2 years to late but don't count tplink out just yet. Reconfigure your setup and try it again. You'll see improved results when you do it right 👍🏽

In order to take full advantage of wifi 6 you should also have a device that supports wifi 6. If you don't have so , it is nearly useless to spend money on wifi 6 router.

I noticed the server you ran your speed tests against were different each time. The comparisons won't be apples to apples if the target speed test is different each time. That would explain the dramatic differences.

I just let the test run on auto as that's the way most people use their stuff.

@@TodayIFeelLike that may be true but you're providing a comparison... If you were comparing the speed of two cars, you wouldn't drive one on a racetrack and one in a busy street.

Can you set up a vpn on this router

  • @portfedh

In the video you mention that one of the reasons you bought the router was so you can install a VPN on it. Im trying to do just that on my router and Im stuck. How do you know if this is a Router problem or an ISP problem?

You have to have a router that supports VPNs does your router do that?

You do know that WiFi is nowhere as fast as ethernet, right? Usually only at around half. And the SPECS say 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz band. And Cable internet will always fluctuate with the WiFi. Attach that Ethernet cable they gave you from the router to your laptop, if it has the port.

@@TodayIFeelLike On the other hand. There is another review on the modem where this guys pays for 300/30 with Cox from San Diego and his wifi is 321/31. I'm expecting mine tomorrow. Lol

All you are doing is quoting manufacture info. I purchased this router to replace a BT Smart Hub 2,it can't get anywhere near the speeds that I'm buying, being 500 mbps FFTP. DON'T BUY IT
