- Find out more about things to look out for when tuning and adding mods to your 1.4 Tfsi tsi engine - EA211 revision.
This video was to follow up the guide on the early 1.4TFSi and this video focuses on the more recent EA211 version, which has a few notable revisions and updates that you need to be aware of when planning your upgrades and mods for it.
So here are the things to look out for on this great little engine, and clarifications on a few points raised on the EA111 which do not apply on the EA211 version.
If you have not yet seen the video on the 1.4 TFSi mods then I suggest you drop over to this link and catch up, then watch this video to shade in the details you need to know.

There was also a guide to problems on the 1.4 TFSi TSi but this mainly applied to the early engines, I will reshoot this video with the problems associated with the EA211 in mind.
Please let me know in the comments which mods you have done or are planning as this will help me shape my own project A3 1.4 TFSi and allow me to focus this channel more on those mods.
A more detailed tuning guide will appear on this channel, but due to family health problems I have had to postpone the mods on my car until funds and time allow.

Had a stage one tune on my 2019 Jetta. Fantastic update! 175 HP, 255 ft-lbs torque. Same fuel economy, very good in traffic. No hardware required. APR.
Hi Jeff, which tune did you do exactly? Would love to get up there with no hardware required. I have a bone stock setup with wider wheels.
@@jeffreywatson3534 ?
How the hell were you getting that much torque with 175 hp
2016 1.4 Jetta, stage 1+ unitronic software and some other little things have made my car so fun to drive.
I am driving an Octavia mk 3.5 1.4l TSI. Love it
Got the 1.4tfsi 125 PS on the A1. Just brilliant. Wished bought the 150PS with COD...
Thank you for the video .
I've just more or less completed my IS20 turbo upgrade for my EA211 1.4 CZCA engine, just need to get it remapped properly now. We'll see if we run into a fueling problem approaching 300bhp
Wow I have so many questions this upgrade is on my list. Did you get this on the stock manifold and intake pipework or did you need some custom stuff in there?
Please let us know what you find re the fueling at this power level.
@@torquecars Stock manifold (for now) and most of the pipework is custom. We did manage to retain the silicone hose from my RTMG air intake kit though...
@@Em_Ligman im looking at doing this. how is it now bro? What numbers you getting now? have you done any supporting mods? Any problems?
Firstly, thank you for your brilliant RUclips channel. I just wanted to confirm if the latest 1.4 TSI EA211 engines also run port injection to minimise intake valve carbon build-up? Is there a specific engine code I need to look for to see if my EA211 has port injection?
got a 1.5 etsi on a 2024 golf as a courtesy car from vw and it was horrible for overtaking, gutless. mpg was ok though and general driving was ok. was happy to get back into my 3.0 tdi though after it was finished.
I got 1.4tsi ea211 golf mk7 did upgraded to hybrid turbo and downpipe with an aftermarket air intake running with a tune 260 hp

What do you think about rtmg performance 1.4 to 1.6 stroker kit for these engines ?
From what I know, valve springs on these are only rated for 200hp at the crank.
Any chance of one day talk about the EA211 evo2 1.5T that some VW, Skoda and others use?
Hello, I have a 1.4 TSI EA 211 + DSG DQ200 in ŠKODA RAPID Monte Carlo 2/2018 but I don't know if I have valve timing...??
I would like to increase the output to 110 Kw and the max. torque to 250 Nm (due to the clutch limit)
I don't know whether to keep the same Turbo or does it make sense to deal with the turbo from the 110Kw version...???
thank you for the advice
My partner has the 140hp ea211 in her seat Ibiza FR, does this have the variable valve timing and same turbo as my 150hp polo bluegt?
I have the 1.4 140bhp I’m not sure however however if this uses the mq200 or mq250 gearbox and how different it is from the 150bhp engine anyone have any ideas?
Dear friend, what about the 1.4 TSI in the Mk5 Golf GT sport with its 170hp? I really like the car for its looks and interesting tax rate with only a 1.4 engine with still on paper some good power, yet how reliable is it really and how does it really perform with its double turbo set-up, I'm wondering.
The EA111 was the original twin charged version. These were very rapid but they do struggle to be reliable. Most of the issues were sorted out with the EA211 revision. Here is a video about the typical problems to look out for. ruclips.net/video/G-o-XWut0SY/видео.html
I would personally only buy one if it had a full service history and evidence of a careful owner. When neglected, especially oil changes they can get quite expensive.
Can you please talk about 1.0 tsi pro and cons
The article on my site touches on that engine. www.torquecars.com/audi/ea211-tuning.php but the 3 cylinder engine doesn't have much support in terms of upgrades but if this is something people are interested in I'll add it to my production list.
@@torquecars thx sir 🙏
Is this info relevant for the 1.2?
Pretty much, but the gains are much lower as you are dealing with a lower displacement. - power gains are a percentage on the original power figure really.
Turbo upgrades need a bit of thought on the smaller engines as well, but these principles will still apply to your engine.
Hi, u ask for comments but don't reply. Is it possible to reply to some. I have a petrol 1.4 tsi 2012 engine with 80k on the clock. On startup it idles with a rattle. Is that normal. It clears after a while. Pls reply... thx
Sorry I have been snowed under with comments, and some pretty time consuming family health problems of late.
In a nutshell, if you're experiencing a rattle during startup, it's not normal. Check these potential culprits: engine mounts, cam timing mechanism, timing chain tensioner, and injector rail bolts. However, for a comprehensive diagnosis, it's best to consult a professional. For more details, please refer to my previous response in the other thread.
Cheers, I'll check . Wishing u n ur family well. Thx again.
If it's a low pitch rattle it may be your flywheel, you can check this by putting the clutch down when stationary, if the rattle stops when the clutch is down but continues when the clutch is up then this is a possible culprit
Mate be sensible that’s clearly a job for a on-site mechanic… thing between your ears
Great information¡. I am thinking on remapping my VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI MY 2018. Do you know what is the max reliable torque for this clutch after remap.?. Thanks
It depends on how worn the clutch is. I've heard of problems starting around 225-250hp on these engines, so they are pretty solid clutches. I have known people go higher than this with no problems at all, and one hit problems at 190hp but this was a high mileage engine and a stock replacement clutch sorted that out.
I have a skoda octavia 1.4 tsi 150hp 2017 facelift model..and thinking for stage 1 remap...any advice? Pros and cons? Recomandations?not doing many miles looking for bit more fuel economy and maybe bit more power..
had a stage 1+ ECU and TCU, throttle controller, and turbo incharger (inside my intake hose) got 205HP and 400NM torque on my tiguan mk2 2020. great engine but my old tiguan mk1 2014 CTHD engine is better
How do I make it fast as fcuk
