@@FB1BB1BB1 I like that guy, to me anyone who picks up an instrument is a virtuoso. He's a music fan, he's not saying look at me, he's just happy, and Shaye seems to like him.
Shaye is a wonder. This is such a surprise - such excellent players - the clarinettist really good, and the guitar and banjo too; piano great, when Shaye hits it.
Fantastic band! Believe it or not: In the seventies a band with that name existed in our small town named MAYEN. They have not been so young and not so good.
The facial expressions of the trumpet guy crack me up. I think he's "in love" with the clarinet gal. How could he NOT be? - she plays such "tasty" lines - and looks so "sweet" :)
overall a pretty good sound. certainly not in tuba skinny's league ( who is ? ) the trumpet guy is superfluous; the guitar guy should play backup only, as his guitar has a cheap, tinny sound. just my opinion.
I don't dump on anyone's efforts, mostly because I couldn't keep two notes in a row on key, but yeah, have to agree, nowhere near Tuba Skinny. (And oh do I miss Erika.)
Why does the pianist have to read the music. If she would just play by ear like the other's her playing would be less controlled and open. Anyway. just my thoughts. You don't see the old ragtime players reading music. I'm sure she is a very accomplished pianist but it would be great if she just opened up. Otherwise, the group is a "thumbs up" for me.
This is to misunderstand what goes on. The pianist is not reading the music. Her playing is just right in this ensemble setting. What she has in front of her is not 'the music' but a chord book and she is improvising just as freely as all the others. Her job is to lay down a firm foundation and not show off in a virtuoso fashion. Similarly, the others are not exactly playing 'by ear'. They have all had to learn and internalise the music, the structure of the piece and its 'grammar' - in this case the two 12-bar themes in F, followed by the simple and much repeated 16-bar theme in Bb.
Where's the problem? Better to read music. The old player's can't read the music. Today normal you learn at first to read music, so I too. For such player's it is really easier to have sheets. Not to play a la classical player's but for your own security it helped much. Believe me.
The young lady on clarinet is first rate. The banjo picker is pretty good. The guy playing trumpet is uh..........enthusiastic. And Shaye is Shaye!
Uh...Feeling Left Out...Wish he'd STFU
Well put Mike....lol Shaye is always on!

I love piano player too. She is always great.
@@stewartfenton7660 You wouldn't be saying that if you heard me playing violin . . . .
A lot of people denigrate Kato. However, he adds a lot of character and flair to the band. He really makes it fun
I love New Orleans Jazz & this group has not disappointed me . Take a bow everybody
Ms. Cohen, you travel the world, bringng harmonic joy, rings on your figers bellls on your toes she briings joy where ere she goes
There's an "e" in her first name. None in her last.
@@shurshot2764 come on, you're being grumpy again, still a great comment from Gunther.
Love the spirit, smiles, beat, solos and all. Wonderful.
Next generation is coming, and Jazz is not dead - but hot again! Thank you for this music to live on ...

International love for the music.

Thanks Lord for the Laydies
Szkoda, że wcześniej nie słyszałem, no Shaye. Super.
this video made me fall for Shaye, she is Jazz personified.
she is amazing ......
superb....cheers
I've wondered if Shaye was visiting any of her Mother's family ?? Really fine music !
Very Very good thanks for posting!

Brilliant post !!!!
GThank you for sharing.
Shaye Cohn ,ホームグランドのSkinnyと同様、目だけでうまくやっていますね、
みなさんとの調和がとてもいい。国際レベル・・・・
cant stop listening to this fantastic group.....still they need a drummer... lol
Maybe Erika Lewis :)
very well played. I admire all !
Loved it, but have to single out the clarinet solo as my favourite.
Fantastic listening
I love her
good job
The banjo player should be brought to the fore. His solo work is excellent.
I would love to go to the pub in Japan where they play. They’re having such fun!
very fine
Run Shaye, run!
Fantastici!
Love that swing time music!
Shaye ...awesome as always.
must have been a rockin new year this great stuff thanks a lot=mel
I could listen to this all day long. I've tried to find a CD with no luck. Not on eBay. Not on Amazon. Is there one available?
Quels talents !!! Merci
INCANTEVOLE !
The guy playing trumpet took the valves out to clean his trumpet and put them back in the wrong holes.
The trumpet, the next roll must have a real job ,I'm very sure.
grają w stylu 20 30 XX w, klarnecistka jest rewelacyjna
Man that girl sure does get around...i wonder if she's married?....lol.
Imagine Tuba skinny with this clarinet player!
Craig Flory plays a mean clarinet. Have you heard him the the Tuba Skinny performance of Jazz Battle in the French Quarter? It's fantastic
@@porkbroth He certainly has a large repituare and can play fast, but I think his tone leaves a lot to be desired.
quelle est cette jeune clarinettiste qui n'a pas grand chose à envier à Johny Dodds ?
Son nom est Tamura Makiko. Il n'a pas de disciples en particulier Dodds

The guy playing trumpet just sucks the air out of the performances.
