Fun Fact: I read that the actor who played Marv is
actually extremely arachnophobic so that scream
was more real than not. He also refused to do
that scene more than once so they had to do it in
    one take. Lol

He didn't actually scream when filming that scene since they didn't want to startle the spider, he just made the appropriate face and they dubbed in the scream later

I love how Angelina says "this movie is so deep" when seeing the church scene and why the old man won't talk to his son. The minor details in the movie go the extra mile with symbolism, notice the old mans hand throughout the movie. As he learns from Kevin and reconciles with his son, his hand heals completely by the end of the movie. The bandage didn't change until after he talks with Kevin for the first time.

The true crime in this film is that Kevin didn't get to eat "This highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner and the people who sold it on sale. Amen.” I love that Macaulay and John Candy were reunited in this after Uncle Buck, even though they don't share a scene together. And the whole funeral story was completely improvised by John. I didn't know that. Memories ❤

And yeah that part with John Candy improvising the funeral parlor story was especially great, because a few years before this, he and Catherine O’Hara had been castmates on the legendary Canadian sketch comedy show, SCTV (which also introduced people like Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis and Martin Short to the world) so they were basically getting to do a sketch together again and show off how well they played off each other.

Out of every reactor who's seen this movie, I think you're the only one who's spotted Kevin's ticket being pitched.
"Angels With Filthy Souls" was only that particular scene and was filmed separately for the movie. The name is a take on the 30s gangster flick "Angels With Dirty Faces" starring James Cagney.
John Candy's cameo role was done gratis for John Hughes, and his entire dialog was improvised. He and Catherine O'Hara were in the Canadian improv scene back in the 70s and 80s.
There's several videos on how the crooks should be dead from all of Kevin's traps. They're basically the human versions of Wile E. Coyote.

    1. John Candy did his part at union rate/FREE for his friend John Hughes
    RIP 😇😇
    2. The items in Kevin's bags were all empty and not the same as what he had a checkout.
    3. Daniel Stern/Harry has arachnophobia. That's why he freaked out. (NOTE: tarantula spiders aren't poisonous to humans but look scary).
    4. "Angels with Filthy Souls" is not a real movie.
    5. GOOF: Harry has tar all over his foot when he steps on the stairs but when he grabs his foot, and all the other scenes after that no tar.
    6. NO WAY could a child get the rope tight enough between the house and treehouse without a winch of some kind.
    7. There's ANOTHER NO WAY Kevin could clean up that fast.
    8. Home Alone II is good. However, Kevin as good hearted as he is, he gets mean.
    9. Macaulay Culkin worked with John Candy (and Hughes) in "Uncle Buck".
That's how he got this gig. Great first time/share. HINT HINT

And from what I remember growing up in the 80's and 90's, things were definitely different. I don't know if it was safer then but it did feel that way. People let their kids play outside and it was fine, now they can't leave the house without parental supervision, even though they'd be absolutely fine. It's kind of sad. Outside the US it's not that bad, but still less chill than it used to be

a devinitive NO ! it´s a christmas movie and devinitive not a bad one... but this is more brutal than most R-18 action movies... and the follow ups get even more brutal than this "Tom&Jerry" imitation... if you want a really good christmas movie, try "Scrooged" with Bill Murray

Marv's scream will never not be funny. I've seen the movie enough times not to laugh out loud at most of it anymore, but that scream makes me laugh every time. No matter how many times I see it. Every. Time.

I like to believe that in an alternate universe, Kevin from Home Alone, grew up to be John McClane from Die Hard

After Kevin got left "Home Alone" countless times, he developed PTSD, bipolar disorder and some other lettered disorders and his traps got worse, more evil/disturbed, by the end of his teen years he became the villain in the "Saw" franchise. Think about it. 😉

Christmas adventures of Clint Eastwood when he was a little kid. I love seeing criminals get what's coming to them.

Milwaukee is about a couple hours North of Chicago. Been there a few times. Haven't tried going there by train from Chicago but have driven up there.
