Fun Fact: I read that the actor who played Marv is actually extremely arachnophobic so that scream was more real than not. He also refused to do that scene more than once so they had to do it in one take. Lol
He didn't actually scream when filming that scene since they didn't want to startle the spider, he just made the appropriate face and they dubbed in the scream later
Deejay Wilson He must not be anymore, because I saw a video on his youtube channel where he caught a Tarantula in his garage and jokingly said it was a reunion with his home alone co-star🤣
I love how Angelina says "this movie is so deep" when seeing the church scene and why the old man won't talk to his son. The minor details in the movie go the extra mile with symbolism, notice the old mans hand throughout the movie. As he learns from Kevin and reconciles with his son, his hand heals completely by the end of the movie. The bandage didn't change until after he talks with Kevin for the first time.
To me my Top 3 go-to ones will always be *"How The Grinch Stole Christmas"* 🥇, then *"Home Alone 2: Lost in NY"* 🥈 and then *"Home Alone"* 🥉 in that specific order. I can't argue with this Top 3 made by '10yo me' back then, she's got taste. lol
Something to clear up: The mom is a fashion designer, hence why there's mannequins lying around for Kevin to use, and how she can afford the house they're living in.
Also the dad is supposed to be like a day trader, stock broker, or hedge fund manager. Some kind of wall street type business man that works off commission on huge amounts of money.
The true crime in this film is that Kevin didn't get to eat "This highly nutritious microwavable macaroni and cheese dinner and the people who sold it on sale. Amen.” I love that Macaulay and John Candy were reunited in this after Uncle Buck, even though they don't share a scene together. And the whole funeral story was completely improvised by John. I didn't know that. Memories ❤
You think he should’ve gotten to eat the people who sold it on sale?! What’s wrong with you?! Just kidding, just kidding… I know you didn’t mean that 😆
And yeah that part with John Candy improvising the funeral parlor story was especially great, because a few years before this, he and Catherine O’Hara had been castmates on the legendary Canadian sketch comedy show, SCTV (which also introduced people like Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis and Martin Short to the world) so they were basically getting to do a sketch together again and show off how well they played off each other.
22:23 Fun fact: he's not actually screaming right there. He wasnt allowed to, because it would've scared the spider. He saved it all up for later, and just went off in the sound booth.
Out of every reactor who's seen this movie, I think you're the only one who's spotted Kevin's ticket being pitched. "Angels With Filthy Souls" was only that particular scene and was filmed separately for the movie. The name is a take on the 30s gangster flick "Angels With Dirty Faces" starring James Cagney. John Candy's cameo role was done gratis for John Hughes, and his entire dialog was improvised. He and Catherine O'Hara were in the Canadian improv scene back in the 70s and 80s. There's several videos on how the crooks should be dead from all of Kevin's traps. They're basically the human versions of Wile E. Coyote.
1. John Candy did his part at union rate/FREE for his friend John Hughes RIP 😇😇 2. The items in Kevin's bags were all empty and not the same as what he had a checkout. 3. Daniel Stern/Harry has arachnophobia. That's why he freaked out. (NOTE: tarantula spiders aren't poisonous to humans but look scary). 4. "Angels with Filthy Souls" is not a real movie. 5. GOOF: Harry has tar all over his foot when he steps on the stairs but when he grabs his foot, and all the other scenes after that no tar. 6. NO WAY could a child get the rope tight enough between the house and treehouse without a winch of some kind. 7. There's ANOTHER NO WAY Kevin could clean up that fast. 8. Home Alone II is good. However, Kevin as good hearted as he is, he gets mean. 9. Macaulay Culkin worked with John Candy (and Hughes) in "Uncle Buck". That's how he got this gig. Great first time/share. HINT HINT
No spider or snake is poisonous, you're thinking of venomous. Venom must be injected, where as poison must be injested. Fun fact, you can drink venom with no negative effects.
I’ve watched this film several times and I always end up laughing so hard that I’m honestly crying from laughing🤣🤣!! You are doing an amazing job!!! So much fun!!
I've watched this movie so many times since I was a kid. How am I just now finding out that there was a shot where Kevin's ticket gets thrown away. I never noticed and never really thought about how an extra ticket would have tipped them off that someone was missing.
17:36 That was also the explanation I was given as a kid when I noticed there's too many Santas around. Helper Santas will spread around the world to meet people in Santa's name in pre-Christmas times, because it's only Santa's _most busy time of the year_ to prepare for Christmas eve.
Fun fact the elderly gentleman at 13:52 is in the movie "Planes Trains and Automobiles" with the guy at 16:09 i'm telling you this has to be some kind of crossover
Well, it’s actually a 90’s movie. It came out in November of 1990, but I do believe it was shot (or at least MOST of it was shot) in 1989, so you’re kind of right.
Such a fun movie and the slap stick comedy appeals to so many! The traps in Home Alone 2 still make me laugh all these years later and that is many down to Harry & Marvs reactions!! Live action 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' has to be on your reaction list & 'Home Alone 2' is a must!!
My favourite Holiday movie is 'Santa Claus: The Movie' (1985). It seems like a nice prequel to the Tim Allan Santa Clause trilogy, even though they were years apart, and written by different people.
Some others you can check out: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (also written by John Hughes) The Muppet Christmas Carol (Director's cut, not Theatrical version) Scrooged
16:55 I see so many younger people saying that nowadays. It's crazy how much fear has been put in peoples minds while in reality, you can trust pretty much most people. And from what I remember growing up in the 80's and 90's, things were definitely different. I don't know if it was safer then but it did feel that way. People let their kids play outside and it was fine, now they can't leave the house without parental supervision, even though they'd be absolutely fine. It's kind of sad. Outside the US it's not that bad, but still less chill than it used to be
I like this one OKay but I recommend Ernest Saves Christmas. It's a Christmas classic. It has Douglas Seale as one of the best movie Santa Clauses ever. Plus, it's just really funny and heartwarming. It's got that certain Christmas charm that's perfect for the holiday. It's a perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season. I think Ernest Saves Christmas is one of the best Christmas movies alongside the Muppet Christmas Carol, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and Gremlins. I highly recommend checking out Ernest Saves Christmas.
Gremlins and Die Hard are the 2 best Christmas movies ever made. Earnest Saves Christmas is a distant 3rd and Lethal Weapon is 4th. Now that I’m thinking about it though, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone react to any Earnest movies.

While Macaulay Culkin was 10 when this movie was released, Kevin is 8 years old in the story, which was the same age I was at the time. Naturally, it became one of my favorite movies, though I had a very different personality from Kevin and thus wasn't inclined to try setting traps all over my home! The old man with the snow shovel ("Old Man Marley") looks just like a former US president from the late 1800s named Benjamin Harrison. I noticed the resemblance as a kid (I was very into history) and always called him "President Harrison". I thought it was hilarious that Kevin was so scared of him, because I always though he looked harmless, at least to children. 14:30 Keven got the money he's using to buy groceries in the scene he climbs the shelves in Buzz's room and makes them collapse. It shows him grabbing several bills and saying something about "Buzz's life savings".

@@christianwise637 Nope, the spider and the scream was real, they did not tell him the spider was going to be a real one so he full on freaked out.

I love how Kevin goes straight home from church and kicks two grown men's butts.
It’s definitely 1 of the best christmas movies, Kevin, Harry, and Marv, that dynamic is priceless. Please react to the sequel too
Just don't react to anything afterwards, every other home alone movie after the first two is trash.
