Well done 👍 Angelina Ballerina 😜😜😜 I laughed and smiled with you.
Keep it up

Cindy Lou Who is Taylor Momsen from Gossip Girl & The Pretty Reckless. Btw. Lmao
Jim Carrey once tweeted “Just so we’re clear, The Grinch never really hated Christmas. He hated people. Which is fair”
Fun sweet fact: if you look in Martha May’s hair when Cindy Lou is interviewing her, she has the jewels from the tree topper the Grinch made her! She kept them all this time 🥲
What....??? I never noticed that. I'm gonna have to rewatch it.
Fun fact, the girl who played Cindy Lou Who grew up to become a badass, gritty lead vocalist for a rock band called The Pretty Reckless. (And she's an absolute bombshell these days). Her name is Taylor Momsen.
Wait the Pretty Reckless? That's her? Holy crap, that's more surprising than finding out the kid who wet the bed in Home Alone grew up to play Wallace in Scott Pilgrim.
Heaven Knows
@@TheGundamsword yeah, that song and 'Make Me Wanna Die' are both of their most well known songs. they've also released new music/album not that long ago too.
she looks like HELL right now. Aged poorly. Looks 50
And was in Gossip Girl
I've never understood why so many critics say this movie is bad (critics I've seen anyway) because I would argue it's a more compelling, humorous, and well put together story than most other iterations and it's not just pure nostalgia bait either because it does it's own thing from the original
Hated this movie. Needed to be about 30-to-45 minutes shorter.
People just don't enjoy creativity anymore, they just want remakes upon remakes of the same thing. Childish adult babies screaming "muh childhood!" Doug from the Nostalgia Critic even finally feels that being too cool for new is tiring and unproductive. Probably thanks to all the Disney remakes that are the exact same, except worse.
@@spaceshiplewis I've never used the word "muh" in my life!
It's one of the few good live-action adaptations.
@@ronkitchell6061absolutely not. This is the best version and one of the best Christmas movies period.
This movie is absolutely insane! And that's why I love it. Jim Carrey really makes the character his own and refuses to hold back.
There's a very popular theory that his speech about all the Christmas presents he finds in the dump is also an explanation for how he got Max.
Just a little Christmas puppy that someone didn't bother taking back and just up and dumped.
omg I never knew that! No wonder he'd be so Cynical!
OMG. I was just coming to write this! Im glad other people know this! So sad.
All of the Grinch's possessions are from the trash that the Whos throw away so Max must have been thrown away 😢
FUN FACT: Jim Carrey totally ad-libbed the table tilt scene. He was just supposed to yank the cloth out and let everything fall, mainly because nobody expected him to pull it out perfectly. According to witnesses, the director & crew were completely baffled that the stuff didn't fall, and once Jim saw everyone's expressions, he ran back over and pushed everything off.
Another fun fact: Ron Howard himself got into the Grinch makeup and costume and directed for a whole day of shooting as the Grinch
@@nsasupporter7557isn’t that when the director also realized how hellish the makeup was and made sure Carrey got more breaks?
@@HollywoodandWine101 I don’t know but probably, yes. Because Carrey wanted to quit the very first day of shooting, he told Ron Howard that he couldn’t do the movie because getting into the makeup and costume was so torturous, he described it as “being buried alive.” So Howard wanted to see what it was actually like so he had the makeup artists put him through the same process. Carrey was going crazy onset because everything about getting into the Grinch was so hellish, even the yellow contact lenses that he had to wear in his eyes were very uncomfortable, the makeup artist that was putting in those contacts in Carrey’s eyes couldn’t take it because Carrey was so unbearable to work with
@@nsasupporter7557 Aww the poor wittle actor getting paid 20 million dollars having to suffer through makeup. Jesus what pampered princesses. A roofer working in FL during summer time will see 0.001% of what he made a single film his entire lifetime.
@@nukiesduke6868 uh… more people work in the hot sun than you think, buddy. Has there been anybody else who played the Grinch character and had to endure what he did? By the way, thanks for showing your ignorance about what he actually went through… never mind about what he was gonna get paid. you can’t compare something to something else if you haven’t experienced both! It’s very easy to say that working in the hot sun in the middle of summer is unbearable because people do it all time and yes it is tough, but he’s the only one who’s ever went through that makeup process so we can’t understand his discomfort with it. I talk to ignorant assholes like you all the time and it pisses me off
This really is as close to replicating a live action Dr. Seuss movie as you’re going to possibly get. & again the Grinch costume to this day still looks phenomenal 23 years later which is insane that I’m even saying that as I’m 25.
I never even realized that this movie was considered divisive until I was older, because it's been a Christmas staple in my family since it came out! We still love to quote some of the more iconic lines to this day ("are you still living?" "I'll hunt you down and gut you like a fish!" and "the unmitigated gall!" being some of our favorites)
Why is it divisive?? It's great
@@calebfoster7954if you go to rotten tomatoes it's basically a 50/50 split. So you either love it or hate it, it seems. I, for one, love it
@@calebfoster7954 from what I've heard, this is one of those movies some people really love, and some people really hate. I don't think it got very good reviews from critics. I'm not sure if people just don't like the sense of humor or how much it expands on the original story, but I've always loved it so I don't really get the hate either
I just learned not too long ago, that The Grinch’s family was throwing a swingers party while he was outside 🤦🏾♂️💀💀. I was 5 years old watching this on the big screen. And I never asked my mom or pops if they knew what it was. Only cause I don’t want to hear that from them 😂.
@@lizryan7451 I have never really trusted critics, I trust audience scores more. Movie is hilarious, I don't see how anyone could see otherwise personally.
This movie is a cult classic and certainly one of my favorite Christmas movies ever.🎄❄️🎅
What Grinch said about greed and avarice is true. They only care about presents, lights and other things than having to learn that Christmas is about being together.
I read a theory that Max the dog was abandoned because they didn’t want him anymore. The Grinch took him in because he has a good heart.
Wow. What a assholes they are.
I always love when the Grinch directs Max on how to be a reindeer he wears a cap just like Ron Howard! I love how Ron always puts a little bit of himself in his projects. It makes them stand out and seem more personal.
I love this film, especially because the stuff staying on the table was an accident so jim went back and pushed everything off 😂😂😂
Here's an interesting fact, the make up and prosthetics Jim Carrey had to wear for the film was apparently so uncomfortable that that he described it as literal torture, he described it as being buried alive. So the studio actually had to hire someone that trains CIA operatives to teach them how to endure torture to come and train Carrey, everything from eating something, hitting his leg a couple times, have someone coem and smack him in the head, and A LOT of smoking. He had to used one of those long cigarette holders they used back in the late 1800s/ early 1900s to smoke because they didn't want the yak hair from the make up to catch fire. So when you see the Carrey as the Grinch in the film shouting and going absolutely over the top with his performance, he was probably going all that just to get through the day.
Yes, he wanted to quit the first day. He told Ron Howard that he couldn’t do the movie because it was so torturous with the makeup and costume. He described it as being “buried alive.” Even the yellow contact lenses he had to wear were super uncomfortable! He was throwing a fit so much that the makeup artists didn’t wanna deal him anymore because he was so unbearable.
Those yellow contact lenses covered his whole eyes and the makeup artists had to put them in
Another fun fact: Ron Howard himself even got into the Grinch costume and makeup one day and directed a whole day of shooting as the Grinch.
@@nsasupporter7557I’m not sure how bad the costume/makeup could’ve been if the director was fine voluntarily wearing it all day
@@ButteredToast32 who knows, maybe it was just a personal thing. It’s torturous to some while it’s not so bad for others 🤷♂️
18:25 - When he puts on the baseball cap and is 'directing' ax, that's an impression of the film's director Ron Howard.
(and the mayor's yes-man is Ron's brother Clint, who he loves to cast in many of his films. It's a family business. Both of his parents were actors, as is his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard.)
The mayors name is Augustus. That's who the grinch "loathed entirely" from the phone book.
This is one of my top 3 xmas movies. Loved your reaction to it.
I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!"
Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. also, I can sympathize with the Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.
Did you know that in the original animated movie, the voice actor that did Tony the Tigers voice on the Frosted Flakes commercials sang the Grinch song
I love this movie, one I make sure is watched all the time in my house at Christmas. A special shout out for Jim's voice during the 'Mr Grinch' song.
The girl who played Cindy Lou is now a singer in a band.
Anthony Hopkins did a great job as the narrator
6:48 Jim Carrey is basically a living cartoon, i think he can mold his face like it was made of rubber, I even once saw a video of him doing his "grinch grin" without makeup and it was funny.
Yes, that’s what makes him the best! He’s a human cartoon, you can’t say that about any other entertainer.
The people who made the movie The Mask loved Jim Carrey for this because it saved them a lot of money in animation at times. In Liar Liar they even wrote in a joke about it because his character's son asks if he makes a silly face for too long will it stay that way and Jim Carrey's character says something like "Not in a million years. In fact some people get paid good money for doing that."
So glad that you finally did a reaction to this movie, it's honestly my favourite Christmas movie! Followed by Home Alone, The Muppets Christmas Carol and Elf ❤🥰
Elf is the most overrated holiday movie ever
Personally, I will always adore the original 1966 Chuck Jones animation, but I give Jim Carrey credit for going full pants as The Grinch. He's always at his best when he dials his manic energy up to 11.
Martha May wears the gems from the Grinch’s gift in her hair most of the movie.
6:37 😂 In my language (🇲🇽) the joke sounds funnier, the question was "do you have floor lamps?" (standing lamps) and the grinch responds "Well, sit them down so they don't get tired!"
¿Tiene lámparas de pie? 🤔🤔
@@AdrianChazz si tu las tienes... 😆 ¡pues siéntelas para que no se cansen!
What's crazy about watching this now, is knowing that the little girl playing Cindy is the lead singer for the hard rock band The Pretty Reckless haha
18:26 Carrey I believe is referencing Ron Howard with this, and it was actually improvised because the dog kept taking the nose off.
Fun fact: Ron Howard himself actually got into the Grinch makeup and costume on the set one day and he directed as the character lol
I literally just watched this movie this afternoon with my afterschool program kids! We watch it on repeat every December, have the whole thing just about memorized. Your reaction was so genuine and heartwarming, so happy you chose this one to share with us. Merry Christmas!❤
The animated version from 2018 is a good version to watch. Also, the dog was found at a shelter a few weeks before the movie was released. The pup really looks like the animated one from yrs ago.
It was multiple dogs, and they all got adopted
@@videohistory722 that's what makes it even better, they were adopted.
It was computer animated
Growing up is realizing the Grinch is way too relatable
For those of you who were kids in the late 90’s & the early 2000’s growing up with PBS Kids, the actor who played Cindy-Lu’s dad is played by Bill Irwin A.K.A. Mr. Noodle from Elmo’s World. 🖍️ I never knew that was Bill Irwin underneath that makeup. 😆
The funny part about how the Grinch stole Christmas is the scene where Grinch goes over his schedule and how he’s Solving world hunger telling nobody wallowing in self-pity basically his to do list, I have a sweatshirt that I ordered that actually has his to do list, everything that The Grinch was going to do in his alone time!!!
"How does he contort his face like that?" That is the magic of Jim Carrey, honestly, very few comedic actors have his talent, haha.
There's an internet theory on how the Grinch first met Max. When he mentions to the Whos that he receives all of their discarded presents in the garbage, it actually implies that Max was once a Christmas Puppy that was gifted to someone who didn't want him and literally threw him away. The Grinch likely rescued him from the pile of junk that would be dropped off in his cave. That's why Max is so loyal to the Grinch and why he keeps looking for the good in him. Because he knows firsthand that it's there. :D
You should definitely also watch the Mike Myers Cat in the Hat, it's just as great as this
One of the best movies out there. 😍😍I’m glad your watching this 😍😍
The grinch is kinda of a introvert when he lives alone anti socially but also relatable to most of his goofy 😜 personality or daily life.
The Grinch is talented maker of things, and that talent was ignored (except by one, who kept the decoration he made, and still wears parts of it as hair ornaments.
No wonder he lives in a junkyard, makes everything he needs and hates people.
The Grinch is wonderful as a devil's advocate , challening whether people's hearts are really about Christmas, or just superfluous or superficial things like 'being nice' for no reason or putting up shiny things for the sake of appearance. When the antagonist who is like the Joker from Batman tests everyone, but then witnesses people's strength and faith in Christmas, or perhaps, when Christmas isn't even present, he felt the love in the air, and it affected even him. Quite amazing.
yess i love this version of the crinch💚🎄🎄💚 it,s one of my favorite versions of the crinch and jim carrey is Amazing as the crinch and ANGELINA happy holidays and have a merry christmas🎄🎅🎁🎄
"He looks just like your boss."
Lolololololo, I can't stop laughing at! Even though it's wrong, but its still hilarious!!!😂
I love that the hat the Grinch wears when directing Max implies that the Whos have a nuclear powered aircraft carrier.
This movie is a childhood classic for me and so many others. So glad you loved it. The film is so quotable
You know what's amazing: *_The girl who played little Cindy Lou-Who is actually now the lead singer of a Rock band called The Pretty Reckless_*
I doubt she cares . She'll never have heard of the band and will have no urge to ever listen to them ! .

Max and Cindy Lou are the MVPs of this movie
This movie and White Christmas are my two favorite Christmas movies of all time! I am so glad you enjoyed this!
If anyone out there is experiencing a sad time this holiday season, know that I am here with you. And I hope that, like me, you still found something, big or small, that made your Christmas a Merry one.
Chin up, friend. We have next Christmas to loo forward to!
No One ❤ Couldve pulled this offlike Jim😊....And Cindy Loo..All Grown up and Lead Singer in the PRETTY WRECKLESS!...All Grown and Dark But STILL IS PROUD OF HER ROLE with Jim Carey
Happy holidays ! Grinch truly is one of the best christmas classics !
My family and I love this movie! We grew up watching it, it's one of our favorites and it's very quotable! Jim Carey is amazing as the Grinch! Perfect casting!
Yes, this was when he was still in his prime. So it was a Jim Carrey movie first before it was a movie based on a Dr Seuss book lol
Me and my mom always have loved this movie and I even have it on DVD. Me and my mom also love this movie for Jim Carrey
Ah yes, a true christmas classic. And even better has Jim Carrey in it and I'm certain that this man is about 67% elastic just by how he can control his face.
Yes, that’s what makes him the best. No one can do the physical things that he can do. Not even Robin Williams can do what Jim can do
@@nsasupporter7557 I agree, I meant none of that in a negative (sorry if thats what it seemed like) but i'm serious i want a dna test done this guy has to be part elastic.
@@JoshuaMattingly-j2h oh yeah, I knew what you meant 😄
What I don’t understand is why so many people dismiss him as “just another typical comedian,” they must be blind. They actually think he does the samething in all of his movies… no he doesn’t. He does something different in all of his movies. His versatility is along with his physical talent is what makes him the best
I enjoyed this movie way so much as a kid, once I got over my fear of the Grinch. There aren’t many movies like this that are so weird yet also cute.
FYI Ange, if your dog's afraid of jumping he may be having some sort of pain or discomfort when doing so. Especially if the dog had a former injury in the past. You may wanna make sure to keep an eye on that, and see if he winces or is in pain if he HAD to jump, or if it's just psychosomatic to train out of it.
I know because my dog once hurt his back running under a table and for a while he wouldnt sit down properly not out of disobedience but because it was not comfortable. Then after some recovery and physio he was fine sitting but he still was afraid of going under a table to pick his ball or put his face behind a couch etc... it took a while for that fear to go away with training.. just food for thought.
This movie does it's best to pull off Dr. Seuss in live action. I think they did a great job with it. Carey was a great pick for the Grinch. Pretty sure I read that he was a miserable person on set for this, because of how uncomfortable all this makeup was. Haven't seen this in a long time, this reaction brought back memories!
Side note, cute little Cindy Lou Who grew up to be the front woman for the Pretty Reckless. I used to listen to them a lot, jaw hit the floor when I made that connection. Great music if you're into metal. That woman can sing her heart out.
My wish for 2024: please give the Star Trek franchise a chance.
OGs or Kelvin Timeline? The original films may be hard to get into for first-time viewers.
@@ricardoquintero7160 She don't have to watch everything! Maybe: top ten Classic episodes = Star Trek 1 to 6 = top ten "The Next Generation" episodes = Star Trek 7 to 10 = the three J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies? ✌️
@martinbraun1211 I meant the movies, bro! Hell no, there are way too many episodes for a reaction channel to go through. Namely, does she watch the first 6 six films? The Picard movies or just the newer films. Truth be told, the first ten movies can be a hard watch for those who haven't watched the shows.

the grinch is so iconic
Given Jim Carrey's portrayal, which is GREAT, this movie should really be called "HOW THE GRINCH SO EXTRA" 😄. He had a very cool take on the character.
I love how Jim Carrey was making fun of Ron Howard the Director when he was giving the dog direction how to be Rudolf.
I don’t know if you saw the 2000 MTV VMA’s, but Jim made a brief speech and it was right before the Grinch came out so he was imitating Ron Howard lol
This movie sometimes brings a tear to my eyes. It's so sweet.
No one deserves to be alone on Christmas 🥺Cindy was the soul of this movie
If your interested in what Cindy lu who is up to today she is the singer in a band called The Pretty Reckless
The human raccoon 😳
This is in my top three Christmas classics. Elf, a Christmas Story, and the Grinch.
THIS, lady’s and gentlemen is what Hollywood used to produce. Amazing movies! WOW how times have changed… and for the worst 😢
The little actress playing Cindy Lou Who is named Taylor Michel Momsen and she is the leader singer of the punk rock band The Pretty Reckless, of no one has mentioned that yet 😂
This is such a great movie. Don’t remember the last time I saw this movie. The only one I remember is the animated one which I haven’t watched in a couple years. Also highly recommended A boy called Christmas it’s such a great film! Love your videos! You do a amazing job!
14:19 Fun fact, all the pots, pans, and silverware on the table were originally supposed to fall off when Jim Carrey (The Grinch) yanked the cloth away, but they somehow stayed on top, perfectly fine. So, he decided to go back and knock everything off before pushing the table over for a comedic effect.

Angelina, thank you for a beautiful reaction to a classic. Big fan.
honestly shes cute n all but her personality is fuckin infectious -- its very refreshing and so positive and yet unafraid of being goofy
Okay, My input on this movie. First of all, It's most of the mayor's fault he wanted the town to hate Grinch even as a child he wanted them to bully him, and then years later down the road, he tried to show up for the holiday event and he seem to be enjoying himself and being a part of something but then he is reminded of a day that wasn't good for him all thanks to the mayor, who gave him a shavers and the mayor knew that it would set him off and make everyone fear him this whole story is more about bullying the grinch then just Christmas, however point 2.
But I can also see the Grinch's point of views about the greed and always wanted more and more and every year's gifts do end up in the garbage. So, he's not wrong, the town is sort of a greedy town if you ask me, the way they act, but otherwise this story is mostly about a misunderstood creature who was isolated way too long and because of the bullying he never wanted to go home. SO, he made a new home far away from everyone and only has a dog only. So, that's what I get from this movie, but still good one and the charismas story is nice in the mix of it all.
The Grinch didn't hate Christmas, he hated people, so I totally understand.
Yes, the mayor was the real villain of the movie
You should watch A Muppets Christmas Carol starring not only Kermit the Frog and the gang but also Michael Kane (Alfred from Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy). It's a funny and wholesome Christmas (and Muppet movie) that will tug your hearstrings, giving tears of both sadness and joy (it does for me and most likey so many others).
Ready for something crazy Angie, the little girl in this, Cindy Lou Who, is also Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl.
My favorite fun fact about this movie was Jim Carey didn’t mean to take just the table cloth off in the table scene so he improv’d walking off then back and knocking everything over
I've loved this movie even more since i found out that Taylor Momsen is the little girl who is one of my favorite artists as of the last few years 😅😅
Dr. Seuss how the Grinch stole Christmas and the Grinch being Jim Carrey famous actor and one of his best role-playing if any of his movies done!!! Some of Jim Carrey’s famous acting roles include sonic the hedgehog, a series of unfortunate events, how the Grinch stole Christmas, and more!!!
Beautiful said commentary. Merry Christmas to you and your family Angelina!🌲🎁🙏
Love the Live Action How the Grinch Stole Christmas 🎄 more over the CGI Grinch movie
And don't forget that Cindy Lou is played by Taylor Momsen the lead singer of "The Pretty Reckless".
You should react to Illumination's 2018 take on this. Benedict Cumberbatch (yes, Dr Strange) plays the Grinch himself
The part of Max was played by six stray dogs they rescued from the pound.
The existential dread i had for the whos when i was a kid (because the snowflake was gonna melt so fast) is unparalleled to this day
20:52 what the mayor meant to say was: Make fun of the Grinch, Destroy Christmas
Politics and politicians in a nutshell.
Get ready to quote this movie for the rest of your life! 😁
As i also say about Elf. Now who exactly considered this a classic (story yes movie no) its a wonderful life, a christmas carol, scrooged, and die hard yippie kirrristmas mother fathers!
I would love to see you watch the one Christmas movie that defined my childhood, and I still watch every Christmas: The Muppets Christmas Carol. I garuntee it will become one of your new Christmas faves.
Cindy Lou Who is now the lead singer of the Pretty Reckless
It isn't so cute when you realise the Grinch only has Max because he was thrown in the garbage too.
Awww great reaction! Hope you had a great Christmas and have an amazing 2024 😊
Love this movie, a classic
Polar express is another christmas classic that love and have been watching since I was a child if you haven't seen it you will love it
I still wish I had Martha May's Christmas light gatling gun. Not only would it make putting outside Christmas lights up a heck of a lot easier for me personally, but do you realize how much money I could make helping my neighbors decking out their homes with Christmas lights??? It would be an awesome seasonal job to earn some extra holiday money.
"No family, no one took him in'? The old ladies took him in and were very caring. Grinch was the one that destroyed their priceless family heirlooms without a thought.
