@@petrkapucian2295 he doesn't fall much 😈
Was that even him in the 9 club interview?
this has to be the greatest episode of the series. not only is every single injury gnarly af, but Mike V is such a great story teller, he really makes you almost feel the pain. idk how this dude is still skating lmao
I think Helmets are a big reason Mike has been able to continue to skate into his older years. Same with guys like Tony or Cab.. I believe Mike has said before that Helmets have prolonged his career, as he didn’t wear them when he was younger.
Exactly
My exact thoughts……
Haven't heard Story Teller since high-school
Malto and Mike V has the best ones, jaws is pretty good too imo
"There's a lot more, but we don't want this to turn into a 5 hour Nine Club." ...YES WE DO! :) I could listen to Mike V telling stories for days.
Podcast material… I could listen/watch this for hours!
Yea part 2?
fr
Well,. Ahhh,. Yes , exactly...!!!
I wish He would just start his own podcast already.
Dude is tough as nails. Crazy how the doc says you'll never skate again and then u prove him wrong. Shows what you can do if you're really passionate about something.
And what pills you can get your hands on.
I’ve been told by 3 different doctors my skating days are done.
I’m 37 now and everything hurts all the time, but I’ll be skating until my legs officially give out.
…and the comment before this one is 100% right 😂
My inspiration is Tony Iommy for getting the tips of his fingers chopped off and still becoming the grandfather of metal.
Mike V was one of my heroes growing up, not for his skating but for his "only on my terms" attitude. Dude will always be a legend.
Seeing videos of him fighting back when it was other skaters or security inspired me. Doesn’t matter what the size or authority differences are, express yourself (aka fight)
I have the same sentiment
I loved that video of him fighting 4 people at once n kicking all there asses
I thought he was a douche. Arrogant, no respect and a know it all.
@@lifewithmarleyandjon4616 Stunning and brave
Thats a living legend right there. True badass
very much agreed. this man is legendary and really humble and chill.
i'm normally fine with this series and the skater's descriptions of their injuries, but for some reason Mike's 'peeled thumb' story had me feeling light-headed & freaked out ill! 😱
Wuss.
@@newvocabulary “wuss” bruh what are you 12? 💀
@@zombie3317 wussssssssssssssssss
dude i did that too ppl laughed and i bled like a pig
Because Mike is a master story teller. That's why the his nine club went over 5 hours lol but he's really good at describing it all.
this man lived through every thought i get whenever i do anything on my board
Lmao
"your at a demooo , you can not get knocked out " has me crying rn from laughter
Most people don’t realize Mike V is one of the founding legends. Dude is 51 and still skating, it’s like Kelly Hart said on the nine club, skating keeps you young.
Mike is the nicest (scary guy) ever. If anyone has the pleasure to meet him, take it. He's a great human
He's the first pro I ever talked to. we had ~10 min conversation at asr (rip) in 05. Like you said really nice guy.
Scary? Dude's like 5'7 with a heavy case of the little man syndrome.
Yeah I’ve met him a few times he’s actually cool. I also saw him get his ass kicked outside of a dive in Westminster, CA. Mike kinda had it coming that time as he took a cheap shot at the guy’s little brother. Ended up starting a massive brawl though and the cops came.
@@DoctorSess lmao
Interesting, I've mostly heard of him being a prick but I guess there's probably a reason he was being one
I like how in most of these stories theres always a doctor that says "you will never skate again" and these legends take that as a challenge hah.
omg dude not even four minutes in and im feeling sick. Mike V is gnarly tough
The illustrations on this one were absolutely hilarious, and Mike is such a good storyteller too
I’ll never forget when mike v was at a demo in houston and he was trying a huge drop to tranny. He kept slamming and slamming (blood dripping from his arm), but yet he still kept getting back up there and trying until he landed it. Everyone went crazy. Such an inspiration to see in person!
History man. It’s so cool to know things like this. Makes me want to go take a slam for Mike
I’m dead lmaoooo!
Makes me want to be more careful on my board. I took a face slam in December. Wasn't as bad as the one he described, but, broke my nose. Don't ever want to do that again. I wear a helmet now.
@@idmhead0160 So you wear a full face bmx helmet now?
@@J.G.Wentworth69420 No. But a standard helmet sticks out far enough that I'm pretty sure I would have been totally fine when I slammed.
what a legend. this is by far the most comprehensive Battle Scars yet. i could listen to him for 5 hours lol
He has taken more slams than most people... Mike you're da man!
Dude this is so hardcore! Mike V really stood up to his reputation! The first slam would have traumatized me, he has so much strength and will! Is he still skating to this day?
You know it! 🛹💪
@@berrics That's amazing ⚡
@@y0LAs_ If you haven't seen it, watch the Nine Club episode with him. It's a good one.
@@idmhead0160 Thank you I will!
@@y0LAs_ There are two of them. Watch the first one first. It's better. 5 hours long, no exaggeration.
How Mike V can walk, let alone skate, is beyond me. This guy has the warrior’s spirit for sure.
I've said this before... I could listen to Mike tell stories for days. He has had such an interesting and long career. He's been one of my favorite skaters since the early 90s. I remember calling him on the phone at the local skate shop when he was in town for a demo. He has always been so cool. He is an absolute legend. Thank you Mike for sharing your stories and everything you do for skating.
Still my favorite Skater. But also one of my favorite people on the World. Always true to himself. Thanks for beeing out there Mike!
Love hearing these stories, Matt Hoffman has the record for most injured person in the world with the most severe injuries. And I think Travis Pastrana is the second most injured person. But i'm sure there's a lot of skaters with a lot of injuries too
Matt Hoffman is a psychopath. Legend!
Mike V and Danny Way prob are at the top too
@@dzthakid8685 bucky lasek and Bob burnquist also.
Now in my mid-40s, Mike was always my favorite in the old Public Domain VHS days. Aside from Rodney in the earlier vids of course.
These guys were true positive influences on a lot of of us kids while just trying to have fun.
Thanks.
This Battle Scar episode is brutal ❤️ big ups! Thanks!
If this video would’ve came out 30 years ago no one would still be saying “Vuh-lay-lee’
For sure, man. Grew up saying it wrong 😂
Bro I've been a huge Mike V fan growing up and I still said it Valaylee until right now, I feel shame at the fact I have been mispronouncing his name for the last 20 years and still can't bring myself to say valllely instead of Valaylee. Mike Vallely and Ukelele no longer rhyme and I'm sad
It's how I thought it was pronounced lol
Never said that cus I can read
@@nnoffuture Wow dude you're so cool :D
Such good story telling, the sounds are spot on. Absolutely amazing
Yo, shout out to all the homies dealing with injuries right now! I’m dealing with one too. We’ll be back out tearing it up soon enough!
3 months past ACL Reconstruction after 3 years of skating without it, other leg also worked on for when a car hit me(Tibial fracture) hah and I'm already feeling the big day getting closer and closer! @ 34 y o
He keeps reminding why he is one of my absolute favorites again, and again and again. What an ultimate LEGEND🤯💯🔥❤️
he's kinda one of the best guys to tell stories about injuries
My first idol, watch him in “Elementality”.. the reason I’m in to skateboarding. Hope to see you soon Mike V! Love from 🇲🇾
Gosh what a story. You know when you see someone at the skatepark break their arm and a while bone sticks though and nobody can skate and everyone feel wobbly and pale with weakness. Thats how i felt hearing Mikes battle scars. + the artwork is amazing.
Mikes a big part of my childhood! Love to see it!
You think your badass til you watch this. Skating right after you break your pelvis, absolute legend
Thank you Mike Vallely for this ❤
Mike V is a true legend. He has stayed a favorite of mine for over 20 years at this point. So glad to see him still ripping after all these injuries.
Let’s go I love the battle scars videos!!
❤👊
YEAH! MikeV is iconic skater our time! Love him style and his take on and contribution to skateboarding!
By far the gnarliest slams on battle scars 🤣😭💀
Mike V is such a badass! I love his grit, he inspired me to go big or go home. I started skating in 1999 and even though he wasn't super technical but he went harder than anyone else and I took that to heart.
We need a part 2 Mike!
"Where's my board!?" Clunk! I was laughing for like a full 5 mins from that one
I have a painting of mike V doing a street plant on my wall. I look at it every single day and think about how he has grown as a person over the years. Such an inspirational skater and person.
One of my all time favorite skaters. He sent me a board and an autograph when I was in Iraq in 2004... I still have the pic,the board was used very well...never got to say thanks... But Mike if you are watching, THANK YOU MAN...USA SSG RET Jacob Flores
That's badass. Was it a complete skateboard or just a deck and were you allowed to skate?
@@Dankelheit I did skate in Iraq... We had a basketball court and I'd practice flat grounds
Currently recovering from a ankle break after skating and these videos oddly make me feel better about the injury, broke it in 3 places and just got surgery
Met him in a demo at a skatepark about 11 years ago. He killed it and was super cool with all the fans. Always a fan of Mike V
Great storytelling this guy. Legend!
What a savage.🤘 One of these injuries would probably have me never touching a skateboard again. The duct tape on the head wound is classic.
Man, this was great! I laughed soooo hard! Just the way he tells it, the stupid pictures and the ridiculousness 😅😂
man i got to say i knew these would gnarly, im feeling all the pain from every one!!!!!!!
Love you Mike! Thanks for being an inspiration.
Got the opportunity to hang with Vallely on the 2005 Projekt Revolution tour. what a dude. hearing stories like these right from the horses' mouth is treasured times. Dude is real.
So interesting explains his progression and his choice of tricks. Thanks Mike V.
Watching this with a broken collarbone some how this video took all my worries away i just hope i don't break it again or at least not within a year YOU'RE A BEAST MIKE
MV’s storytelling is high level lol
Mike V always has been and always will be the definition of both passion and toughness in skateboarding.
This is the best episode ever!
Best ep ever. I was getting queasy listening to the stories lol especially the nail one
I met him at his house once haha. I did some construction work there long time ago. Nice guy. Met his wife too
So many slams. Just one clip. He’s such a compelling storyteller!
Mike v is a true professional, maybe even a national treasure. I could listen to any of his stories
Foook yeah! Finally get to hear one of my old school favs riders talk about thier slams lets go! 🤘
This dude’s stories are insane. I had to stop and start the video a few times because each time he would tell a story, I would have to pause it, take a break, and then resume it, lol.
same here
Every one of these end with "so I didn't go to the hospital..." lol
True warrior... coming back from those injuries and destroying the barrics 👏🏻🙏🏻 . Also that one foot japan cartoon is classic 🤣🤣
Love you’re stories mike I remember meeting you in the Texas Walmart at the sobe signing years ago.
I want a part 2. The way he tells stories had me rolling
I remember a demo with Black Label (I think) in Fountain, CO and Mike was so cool. I was probably a weird ass kook kid star struck, but it was such a dope demo and experience.
Mike V is a legend! I love the way he skates. I grew up skating in that Era of big boards.
This is amazing
Jesus Mike!!!! Im definitely all for a 5 hour berrics edition of battle scars mike v2 edition.
The gnarliest of the gnarliest. Legend
My left and right shoulders have both chronically and extremely painfully dislocated to my posterior for almost a decade, and it is for real super depressing. Gotta get the surgeries done.
i was at the west chester demo in 2005 when i was 5 years old thats one of my earliest memories hahaha i remember watching him being rolled into the ambulance it was crazy. was hoping he would mention that
What a childhood hero this man is, the epitome of 90s extreme sports
Praise to the person who does the art they seem to have a lot of fun with the descriptions
Natas, Gonz, MV...golden triad of street skateboarding.
I remember watching that footage of him skating a coastal side, I could not believe how he could manage to ride fast and then tailslide the board to a sudden stop like someone where stopping the video.
Goat hands down.
Incredible story teller
absolutely incredible.
Mike V is one of the best story tellers in skateboarding. He's actually fun to listen, not to disrespect the rest, but most are not that eloquent or engaging.
Probably matched only by Rodney Mullen.
YOU'RE SO HARDCORE!!!
YOU ROCK, BRO!
edit: and I know the feeling of a foot facing the wrong way;
its like half of you wants to walk north
and the other half of you wants to walk south 😂 (or backwards lol)
His storytelling is superb!
Mike V was me and my buddies idol growing up. This video says every reason why that was the case. Mike is a badass!
I was living and skating in Springfield, MO in 1990. I didn't get to attend that demo, but that wallride incident was the stuff of legend. Everybody at Radz skatepark talked about it for years. Hoped he'd mention it when I hit the link.
I grew up with u u skateboarding you were one of my biggest idols..Respect!!
Dude I had to stop half way! Too gnarly!
The Berry Zeriski shoutout was amazing
part two please :)
Oh my god he had one of the heaviest slams in skateboarding. Unbelievable!
that slam he took at Berrics would have ended my life prob lmao
@@Coleman_H gosh yes! That was mental. I had a little slam and my knee is so messed up I haven’t been skating for 2 months. The doctor said probably 3 more months without skating 😢 I don’t know how these people just keep going. Haha
This is hilarious as it is gnarly. Dude is the ultimate embodiment of a skateboarder.
All of these are legendary this one the way he tells it might be funniest😂
Shouts to mom! 😆🤘🏽 “so I called my mom…” love it 🤍🕊
I would be happy to watch nine hours of Mike V slam stories.
Best stories ever, sorry Mike!! The sad part is you can see his poor shoulder! I love skateboarding!
Went to go pee, came back and this video came on and I got stuck watching it... it was soooooo good lmao
Such a legend! Good luck Mike!
I met Mike V at Woodward east in 2007. He shook my hand and signed my board. Coolest dude I’ve ever met!
Seriously, does this guy even age? he's like 20 years my senior and looks great.
so crazy to hear mike v toured in my home city in 1990, from what my dad told me bam was here in about 2006 going to the local bars on an element tour or something like that.
Legendary!
