I met Mike V at Vans Warped tour Las Vegas many many moons ago, I think 95. Solid guy, so down to earth. I smoked a joint with Bud Gaugh that day with Sublime as well.
@@yonf5996there was a clip I’m pretty sure of him tre flipping a bench and there is maybe an inch of clearance as he goes over it, was beyond beautiful. So I’m with you on that
I remember a demo with Jason and Mike here in Austin at Let's Go Skate, Jason kept trying the same trick and getting frustrated, meanwhile we had a local ripper named Kurt that was blasting these monster airs off a launch ramp stealing the show while Mike was just kind of doing his own thing. I can remember Mike sitting all by himself at the gas station across the street and I was too shy/scared to approach him as I had just walked out from buying something, (his back was towards me) I've never gotten to connect in person since then and I regret the crap out of it, I've communicated with him through email and social media (his company actually donated product to a jam I put together for Diabetes charity) but still haven't gotten to meet him face to face again, years later seeing Mallrats and My Name is Earl and talking briefly with Mike and knowing I watched them both skate in person is still crazy to me.
My best friend Matthew James Yi and I used to skate everywhere together before he died. Anytime I saw him at a party we always did they MALLRATS Matt Matt Matt song. He was like my brother. We used to just get stoned and watch My Name is Earl or Southpark together if we weren’t skating or smoking we were gaming oblivion, Halo…anyway Jason Lee will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m glad he seems so genuine too.
Viewer feedback: some minor editing in these clips, to put in photos when they’re discussed, or maybe even videos (I don’t know how fair use applies to that), stuff like that would elevate these clips a LOT.
My growing up skating days (late 90s through early 2000s) we only new him for fighting people lol. We didn't really think of him as some high level skater though.
it is just so down to earth legit pro sandwiches that jason lee after all this shit. said done. came back to talk skateboarding. fuck. you. i love this guy. lol.
@@robertblackmore703 yeah, for sure however, they didn’t really make a name for themselves until 88-89? Gonz and Natas were at least a half a decade behind them.
White Jason Lee Airwalks, khaki pants, plain white tee...this was big style in 1993(?). Those shoes were sick. Maybe coolest looking skate shoe ever. Skating during that period was crazy we were totally punk rock but also getting really sucked into style and elitism. We'd look through the skate catalogues at the shoes like it was porn. Sneaker porn.
Yeah I’d tune in for that! But they prolly wouldn’t do it because so much of the younger crowd wouldn’t be into it or know anything about the back story.

Jason lee was one of my favorite episodes and favorite skaters of all time. Besides him Kelly has the best 360 flip out there 👍🏻
Shane cross had a beast tre flip down stuff
@YLOJACK I forgot about him. You're right!
Austyn gillette can switch tre better than Kelly can normal tre

Jason lee is the best honestly
He’s a 🐐
The Lance Mountain Flip Book Manny deserves it's own episode.
Growing up in the 2000's, Mike V was one of my favorite skaters from Element
His black label days tho… that vid part with paranoid is forever in my brain
The douchebag things over money he did to Ed were pretty weak
@michaelbanks2401 Is a cringey kook
@@michaelbanks2401huh. What happened?
Running through a graveyard lol

Mike V and J Lee’s 9 Club interviews are both great
I feel like Tommy G is among that early group with Natas, Gonz, and Mike V.
Yes. For sure.
Skated with Mike V in Salt Lake City at a grocery store parking lot. We brought a launch ramp. His 1 footed stale fish was epic af to all of us!
I could listen to jason lee all day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
“I just said steezy”. Lol I can relate at 36.
I came across Stereo Sound Agency in like 2011 at my peak and to this day I still only skate Stereo. Something about their decks just feels right.

Jasong broght the uncle sweater lol , gotta Love Jason Lee... love his history.
Will Gonz ever be on ?
It’s been said many times that Gonz “doesn’t talk about the past anymore”
Jason is alllllmost as good a storyteller as Mike V. What a cool dude.
Also, petition to call the arm up motion from Front Boards “the wave”
All the homies loooove Jason Lee. Long live the king!
RIP
My name is Earl was one of the favorite episodes of all time thanks nine club
This is a crazy perspective for me because as a kid growing up watching video days or an element video I always thought Jason was older hahaha
Love all these stories
We called front board slides a flasher in the late 80's !

Jason could be a double for the dude from "My name is Earl". 😂
I hope this is a joke 😂 🤦🏻♂️
“The arm up” that’s gold 🤣
Natas, Gonz and Mike V were definitely the OG street skaters who were doing amazing stuff on those old 80’s planks. Nobody really came close.
Rodney Mullen dude
@@seanbellavance1588 Rodney was still freestyle back then.
Frankie Hill and Ray Barbee, also Matt Hensley.

Jason Lee is motioning the Ron Allen graphic.
It would’ve been cool to hear him get into to the Scientology stuff.
LMAO at that crappy Kramer painting in the back 😂
Everyone makes fun of Me for drinking PBR but I see one sitting on this table! Fuck yeah
damn thats a name i havnt said in 20 years... mike V
"steez" that one never lost... I'm 29 though...
All bs slides are the best?
Try Ed Templeton
He doesn't talk about skating with Mike V lol
Lol is steezy not a thing you say anymore
Get gator on haha his name gets mentioned a lot and he’d have a lot to say about his past life before he went off the rails (pun unintended )

Don't forget Tommy Guerrero!
So glad he left Scientology
Why does jason lee sound gay? Like with a gay voice nowadays?
Because you're obsessed with guys being gay, weirdo
