These kids are so strong!!!!!! Their strength is inspiring!!!
I feel so sorry for these people. I can tell they look very traumatised over that horrific accident. It's not right for them, they deserve better.
Alton Tower I think could have done more for them. They should shut of shut this ride down following this accident safe or not now.

They say you cannot remember pain but clearly you can. Knee injuries hurt I remember mine. I feel so very sorry for these three and everyone else involved in the incident. I hope they all have won hefty lawsuits and are able to somehow pick up the pieces to their lives ruined by the parks incompetent staff.
Kind of crazy to compare this to a knee injury?
They was left up there bleeding out for 4+ hours while people watching the crash was filming,
The ride theme tune was also a person laughing they must of been hearing the ride laughing at them while they literally thought they was going to die
Nothing can be compared to what these people went through 🥺
Thoughts are with them I hope they are all ok
Imagine comparing a knee injury to being crushed on a roller coaster at 90mph...
yeah lets not compare knee injuries to going high speed on a rollercoaster and being crushed between 2 carts

I saw a RUclipsr covering the entire accident and it made me so angry on how easy it could be prevented

Workers were pressured into forgoing safety to keep it running. Classic case of corporate greed ruining peoples’ lives
You can’t imagine I can’t even say what it’s like not having a leg what happened that day that day the engineers just didn’t look for the cart was sad I’m not glad about them now they are never the same changed… all because of miscommunication
I am sending my heart out to all of you and just keep pushing through the pain you will get used to it when time comes 😊😊

For anyone angry yet ride is till open, the incident was very much caused by human errors and lack of communication between the staff that day, it was nothing to do with the ride itself. The ride operated as expected.
The Smiler ride actually did the right safety precautions by automatically stopping their cart when it sensed another cart close by but a human overrid that safety cuz no one told him a test cart was sent which never completed its course.
After the incident Merlin added more cameras for visibility of the ride, they added feature that now couldn’t allow the ride operator to restart the cart if the cart’s safety kicked in and all the staff under went strict training.
If the safety systems were as good as everyone always claims, it would never have allowed manual override causing a train to enter an occupied block.
@@chilli943 hence that is a HUMAN fault. They are the ones who initially designed it that way so it can be override by staff engineers and that’s why they changed it after.

@@chilli943 there are always glitches in a system, however on a rollercoaster, when a system glitches, it STOPS the train rather than sending it when it wasnt supposed to. thats why human overrides exist, because if there were no human overrides, the ride would almost never be open since once it glitched 1 time, it wouldnt be able to open again

Think the best thing these people could do is get back on that ride. Show your brain that their is nothing to be affraid of. That a horrible accident like that will never happen on that ride again. After my horrible car accident i wanted to avoid going the route where it happened but instead i drove up and down that route 100 times right after the accident in my moms car. I knownit was nowhere near as bad as this but it was a 50mph head on collision and it was a nightmare.

@hooper1605 after an accident like this I doubt that ride will ever valley in that area again. They probably have so many safeguards in place.

They reworked the security system and retrained staff so smething like this cannot happen again
it was the error of the operators and miscommunication - ie human error. the ride is realtively safe, its just the combination of negligence of the staff. the staff didnt notify the mechanic that they added a 5th cart. the security system worked properly. the staff didnt communicate w the mechanic. so the mechanic counted the usual 4 carts, assuming that there were only 4, and overrided the security mechanism thinking it was just a censor error.
so theyve really cracked down on safety protocols. the ride itself is engineered fine. but the staff needed to be trained and not negligent even on a busy day. a combination of bad circumstances and human error.
hence after changing their protocols the ride is fine. just has a bad reputation now.
If a plane crashes do the plane makers stop making them? Do people stop flying on them? No they fix the problem and people continue to fly

Exactly. Out of respect for these poor victims they should have at least renamed it and changed the aesthetic
All theme parks that employ kids to operate the rides should shut permanently!

They were sat opposite sides of the ride, Vikki lost her right leg, Leah her left. She has a realistic prosthetic.

Very insensitive comment and I’m sure they would prefer to have her legs back than have the money.
Even tho they would like to see it never reopen at the end of the day the rollercoaster is fully functional and safe it was just lack of training of staff at the time on oversights in safty that I can say with full knowledge Alton towers and Merlin have taken on board completely there isn’t a safer country to go to a theme park then the Uk
