  • The video shows how to set up the dies on the lee pro 1000. The die set up is the same for all pistol calibers on the pro 1000. This is the first video in the set up series the next video in the series will cover selecting the correct reloading materials, powder disk selection & fine tuning the press

    Do you get good crimps with the 3 die set? I have been using the Lee Turret Press which is a 4 hole, so I use the Lee factory crimp die. But I just tried doing 9mm on my new Pro 1000 and the bullet seater/crimp die just does not seem to be working. The bullet is loose in the case. Any way to get a better crimp that you know of?

    the instructions say to screw the full length size die down to where it touches the shell plate, and then lower the shell plate and screw the die in another 1/4 turn...should i do that or what you did

    Any advice will help. I just set up my new pro 1000, i have 2 sets of 9mm dies and have tried both powder through dies to stop this issue, with no resolution. problem is my 9mm case is hanging up in the powder through die for sure, causing me to have to pull down with extra force shaking the jell out of the machine. no matter how i adjust the die, to keep a light flare, only way to stop it is to not really get any flare at all and for the record the shell plate is zero'd out fyi. Thank you.

      Keith Lvl about the only thing that causes that is the case mouth being flared to much you all you need is a tiny amount of flare.

      ok thank you, i'll step it back even further.

      Keith Lvl I agree with NodaSheep in that you only need enough of a flare for the bullet to sit on top of the case long enough for it to go into the seating die. My flare is so slight that I don't need to crimp my 9 or 45 after I seat, since the bullet removes the flare as it seats, and I have just a slight hang up on the down stroke. I will say though, that my understanding after talking with more seasoned re-loaders for why it catches and makes a little jolt is to ensure each case receives it's charge without any of it getting hung up in the die. So that jolt helps knock any flakes that may have gotten hung up loose and allows them to fall into the case. Hope this helps.

    I use your videos all the time,I downloaded them on my phone for instant reviewing. Here's my question, do you load 380 ACP? If so how do you get the small powder throws to be consistent? I'm using titegroup powder and want 2.8gr throws. The auto disc that come with the press go to .3cc which gets me 3.2gr throws, well over the Max recommended for 100gr bullets. I tried the adjustable charge bar, sucks for small grains but awesome for 223. What's your trick brother.?

    • @nodasheep9468
      @nodasheep9468  10 лет назад

      I don't reload 380 but titegroup is to dense for that small of a load with the auto disk. I would switch to a lighter powder like power pistol the max load for a 90gn 380 with power pistol is 4.8 Suggested starting load: 4.3 gr 3.7" barrel So that will allow your disk to meter right.

    Does not cover how to "setup" the press. Does a pretty good job on reloading. How do you set it up?
