Not to find fault, however, when the shell plate is brought down, you seat the primer, set a bullet on top of the casing on it 3rd stage because its read to seat a bullet as normal, I feel its a waste of time dealing with the bullet feeder, logic is, You have to load the bullets right side up in the tubes and loading those tubes takes time. in another way it takes longer than not using it at all because you have to load the bullet feed tubes when it gets empty. uninstalling and installing the feed tubes. I DO appreciate that you go a speed that is safe with your machine and watch it closely as you process ammunition, the Lee is a good machine, however you have to go it's speed and watch everything to make sure that every thing is being done. and that go's with every machine. some people try to set a speed record with it and that is how failures at the range happen or a pistol blows up. Good video, Peace - Dave

Just fyi, I drilled a very small hole in the primer tray top and bottom at the mouth where the primers feed into the feed shoot. Then I used a small nail cut to the depth of the primer tray. It keeps the primers from falling out and has the advantage of not letting the lid rotate to come off if you want to store your last primers in the tray. I've been doing that simple thing for years and it works great. No spilled primers.

I just picked up a couple older pro 1000 that need some TLC, I think I will clean and keep them for my pistol calibers

I have run one of these presses since the early 90s. Your comment about not putting any lubricant on the press is not correct. The ram shaft and moving parts below need to be lubed. You also should put lube on the leg with the notches that cause the primer tray to shake. I did not for long enough that it wore the notches off and I had primer feed issues. Once I figured it out I just turned that leg 90 degs and started putting oil on that spot. You will also find that the primer feed case sensor will wear as the shell plate turns, causing it to not work. I do not recommend trying to lube for this as primers and oil are not friends. Just replace the parts when they wear. I removed this part but I do not recommend this as it requires you deal with a primer every stroke of the press. If you have enough experience with this press you can deal with it, but at times it can be a pain.

Hi Jim, I have the Lee Pro 1000 from the 90s Got at a reduced price as it was a demo in a shop. Problem is that manual was gone and some parts. For some reason I can't recall I just did not set it up at the time. Then it got missed place by my brother and years later found it again. Again a year or three passed but now I'm ready to get it going. Will it be possible for you to send me some pictures of yours as it appears the powder dispenser on mine is not correct.

@@vickventer53 I can send you pics but the press from the 90s is the same as the new one (not the 2018 version). Here is lee's instruction page.

If you are having specific issues, let me know and I can see what I can do to help.

your title says setup, that's why I'm here. So far, no setup. Everything you did worked perfectly, how about what to do if the powder wasn't correct, what to do if the bullet drop didn't work, what about if the length wasn't correct, primer didn't load. it's great that you did all this, but I didn't learn a thing about what to do if all these things don't work.

Ron this is a great call out. Ive been focused on gun videos lately but plan to get back to reloading soon as I have some new calibers that need worked up. Im going to add a video to my list for "overcoming issues on the Lee Pro 1000" that thing is a fickle beast and I have had issues on all the items you asked about. Thanks for the great comment and watching!

I'm SHOCKED by how much your press is rocking. Mine has virtually zero rock and is much more stable.

I have this machine since 2012 never was ready for reloading it just fell apart at every moving part, clip, ring, pin, spring, and finally just had LEE go thru it and Still had to tighten the shaft to the bottom plate when i got it back shortly after and it's never seen powder till today and 1st two bullets, primers protruding out the bullets 3/32" now ones wedged between the rotation plate and exiting trough edge, if I try to pull it out at the trough may crimp the primer and go off I would think. So if I ever get that bullet out of there I need that primer to seat in the primer hole, Do you know where the adjustment is if it even has one?

I hope you are ready for the hard fact. I you have this many issues setting the Pro 1000, you should not be reloading ammo.

@@ttedrow1 The problem s were the result of manufacturer and of coarse my negligence in thinking this device came factory set. When your device falls apart in the process of reloading, is not in tolerance causing breaking or bending it's own manufactured parts. However LEE manufacturer took it back, replaced the parts and calibrated the device. This person, representative, LEE specialist was undoubtedly the absolute man I wish every manufacturer had on their salary. You should take your own advice upon your conclusions and un thought out advice. You should not have a gun in the realm you seem to be coming from.

I had to use tape on my powder drum, the constant moving of the press slowly rotated it to the off position. Not a fun day at the range.
