  • In this video I do a caliber change on the Lee pro 1000. If you purchase a new one, it will look a little different because they have made some minor changes. However, the setup and operation of the press is the same. I hope this helps someone. It is a fair press, and you get what you pay for. It loads faster than a single stage or a turret press, but it can be finicky. It is not as good as some of the others on the market, but it is a significantly cheaper press.
    I got mine at a gun show used, and had to do a few part swaps to get it running, but I don't regret buying. Hope this video helps someone.

    The best tutorial on the Lee Pro 1000 on RUclips, thank you. I have had mine since the mid nineties and needed to change out the old primer track, this helped refresh me.

    I just finished converting a 45 shell plate carrier to 357. Can’t wait to start pulling that lever again after way too many years.

    Thanks, have a used Lee 1000. Got frustrated and bought a single stage one for now. Will tune it up over the winter. This helps, thanks

      Glad it helped. I will also say if it was used incorrectly the carrier could be warped. I hope you can get it running right and spit out some quality ammo.

    Hello brother! Let me ask you,... how did you go with this press reloading handguns cartidges ? Asuming that this press only work with the three dies setup, and you can't use the Lee Factory Crimp Dies. For example in 9 mm. Thanks

      I got it used at a gunshow and was new to reloading. But I only use factory crimp on magnum revolver cartridges like 454 casull, 44 mag, 357 mag, etc. So it works for me. I load all of my semi-auto on this press.

      You can size, de-prime off the press (if you have a single stage press too)and prime using a hand priming tool. Then you can set up powder charging first station, bullet seat second and factory crimp third. You will need to remove the priming system to work it this way. I do this with 357 because I like to trim my brass after each use and the lee bullet seating die will roll crimp which is best (IMO) for revolver. For 9mm, you really don't need to crimp unless you shoot the loads in a revolver like a Ruger Blackhawk.

      I have two sets of die holders and have a two step process. 1st I deprime, resize and prime, then I fill the powder, seat the bullet and crimp. I came up with it when I faced issues with priming and subsequently spilling gun powder in the mechanics.

      I haven't seen one, and didn't get one with mine. I got this one nearly 20 years ago and it w a s used then. You might call lee precision and speak to them, they may be able to send you one.

    Hi; I have a Lee Pro 1000 pre-1993, I have not reloaded in a while, in the past I have reloaded hundreds of 45 cal and rifle 7.62 X 39 using a 30cal bullet w/ a crimp die. I Somehow lost the right collet for the 45cal crimp die, I have 2 one 1 1/2" which moves the powder feeder but is too long and damages the case and the other 3/4" which LEE said it was the right one, but it does not move powder feeder or expand the casing, I have tried everything and I can't get it to work properlyI will enclose pics . Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to attach pics but it didn't work
    thanks Woody

      Woody,
      It sounds like you are missing the piece that goes inside the powder die that expands the case mouth. That piece pushes up and activates your powder hopper.

    Can't you just get a new carriage set of everything and then just swap out the entire carriage, feeder, and the like? That way you'd just take the carriage off for larger calibers and then just put the smaller one on...

    • @murphyfirearmstraining3630
      @murphyfirearmstraining3630  Год назад

      Yes sir, that is correct. You can setup the carriage and the dies, and the swap the bottom and top for each caliber you reload.
