Removing the parking lots is absolutely a win-win-win scenario. Tons of room for coasters, less pollution, less eye-sore, no waiting in line for parking so you get to the park faster. Make a free monorail that connects an off-site lot, the park, hotel breakers, lighthouse point and the pier. It would be a huge improvement over their shuttle van system that sits in traffic. Add in a bike path and bike check near the entrance -- bike parking has a very small footprint. One of the reasons people love Disney is lack of cars.
@@MrWyn17 I was thinking the same thing. I love the idea of expanding into the parking lot, but that defeats the whole purpose of GateKeeper. Cedar Point has such an iconic entrance with GateKeeper. Out of curiosity, what idea for a solution were you thinking of?
@@FinesseBTW the idea is make a little part out side the park right in front on of gatekeeper this is where the Monarail would drop you off then have the park circle around this part so the entrance is still where gatekeeper is but you get more space
My thoughts exactly. I mean, from the looks of it, the waters around the peninsula aren't THAT deep at all compared to the rest of Lake Erie. Maybe land reclamation could be a possible option for Cedar Fair, if they wish to expand Cedar Point without sacrificing the parking lot.
Additional ways to create space: 1 - Multi-level parking garages 2 - Use airspace around other coasters, like Hershey Park did a ton of before their recent land acquisition. 3 - The Shoot the Rapids plot of land is still literally just sitting there. It's also right across from Cedar Creek Mine Ride, which has to be a removal candidate. 4 - Remove one coaster and build dueling coasters in its place if you want to increase the coaster count. 5 - All that water in the middle of the park is prime real estate for a potential coaster.
I've read before that all that water, or the lagoons, if filled need to be replaced elsewhere in the park for some reason idr at the moment. Would be easier to just build over em like mantis/rougarou
Interesting; a lot of people believe that they're running out of space, however I was on a coaster trip to CP in June and we had a behind the scenes hosted by Tony Clark. During this, Tony was asked about space, to which he replied that they have a lot more space than people realise... 🤷
I don't know how much I would trust that answer. What else is he going to say? "Yeah, we're running out of space, and the park's gonna become completely stagnant in ten years, sorry."
Now one thing to remember with roller coasters is that the main plot of land you need is for the station, brake run, transfer track, and maintenance shed, with some mid-sized bits for when it gets low and smaller bits for supports. Because steel coasters exist of a track with occasional supports there can be multiple built on the same plot of land crossing over each other and such, unlike, say, buildings. In each plot of land taken up by a roller coaster there's usually a lot of empty space; and if needed track of another coaster could always fill that empty space.
So far Hershey is the only park (in the US as far as I'm aware) that has truly mastered this concept of layering their rides onto the same plots of land. Cedar Point really needs to take some inspiration from them if they want to keep adding coasters.
A great solution for the bus route issue is to make a parking structure instead. That way they can get more land and keep the parking on the peninsula. I know they are expensive, but if it means getting more rides I think its worth it. Great video!
Think about what getting out of the top deck of a parking structure during closing would be like. It’s already a mess getting off the peninsula, those decks would be a nightmare
Here's what European parks do which American Parks are too dumb to realize: Just build the new coaster that crosses over or below other coasters. Phantasialand, Europapark and even Canada's Wonderland does that. Coasters just need space for Queue and Station, you can easily design a coaster to go around already existing rides or buildings.
Every time I hear someone talk about a park running out of space, I tell them to take a good look at Gröna Lund. Even Hersheypark, before their major expansion a few years ago, was able to shoehorn Skyrush into a space nobody ever thought a hyper coaster could fit in. If a park truly wants a new ride, they'll find the space for it.
Honestly I don't really see the space problem. They could a) build a parking garage like universal and save tons of parking space or b) just start building more compact and closer together coasters that interact with each other. Or they could even try to reclaim land from the sea or build a pier (missed potential for the boardwalk area there!). Also, there is still tons of backstage area that probably could be converted without operational issues for the park.
I have never heard anyone talk about CP relocating their main maintenance building and CF headquarters off of the peninsula. That would open up quite a bit of space. There is also a plot of land next to Valravn where employee dorms used to be located.
The Amazement Shop is already off peninsula which houses most of maintenance. the new employee dorms are also off peninsula. I bet they could 86 that old arcade
I really wish that their new boardwalk themed area was on a pier. That would have freed up a good amount of space and given it a real cool boardwalk feel.
I've got the solution! It's very simple I don't know how it didn't occur to you bro...... CP can easily snag the record for most coasters and hold it indefinitely by removing Steve and putting in 7 Vekoma Boomerangs! Not sure how this would go over with the community but I can think of nothing cooler than marathoning seven identical shuttle coasters over a weekend. They could also spice it up by having each one painted a different color and calling it "Rainbow road to Heaven"! Please, don't spend hours writing replies to this comment like "You're a genius!" and "You should be Cedar Fair CEO bruh!!!". Your adulation and awe is not required by my ego.
I went there once about 20 years ago. The biggest problem was the place is swarming with seagulls they poop as they fly around and they don't even give you lids for your drinks...
Sooner or later they need to take a some lessons from Gröna Lund in how to build stuff without having space. The Cedar Point way of thinking about this would of course be: How many interactions with other rides would get us the world record for that?
I think that they're not quite here with this issue, they definitely need to do something about it, but I think that Cedar Creek Mine Ride's plot is probably the first one to go, other than Gemini. Then, they're really going to have to do something to fix their land locked issue...
I love Gemini I agree about CCMR there’s a reason Gemini doesn’t have a line it’s Two coasters in one so capacity wise it’s replacement would have to be similar
Axing the parking lot would be a stellar move, but then you have to ask: what do they do with Gatekeeper? Half of its shtick (and its whole name) is being at the front of the park and soaring over the main entrance. Do they just... move the whole ride? What happens?
I’ve been saying this for years: think Morey’s piers in Wildwood, New Jersey. Cedar Point could add piers. But only if environmentally sound. Using the parking lot for expansion and building off site parking with free shuttle service (monorail, ferry or bus - or all three) would open up plenty of land for park expansion. Cedar Point could also learn lessons from Black Pool Pleasure Beach, Indiana Beach and even Moret’s Piers. They could construct attractions on top of attractions. Parking structures (expensive) can also provide more spaces for cars, especially close to Hotel Breakers. And what happened to the land where Sand Castles Suites once existed?
The Magic Kingdom system is perfect for parking. Creates a sense of wonder when you're traveling in mass, vs traveling in a car and it's all right there. People want to get there faster, but life is moving too fast nowadays.
Every few years someone new says that CP is running out of room. People said they were out of room after Magnum was built since it went out of the park. Then time and time again they added more coasters. Someone else commented that Tony Clark said along the lines of “we have a lot more space than people think” and yes, they have plenty of room. Look at parks like Hershey whole coasters cross over and under each other, CP hasn’t even done a lot of that yet.
I wouldn't use Hershey Park as an example of good park layout. The center of the park looks like a game of RCT that has gone on too long. Seems like most of the rides budgets were blown on building the rides over each other and water features which left short roller coasters with odd straight segments of track everywhere.
look at milli. A lot of the ride winds through the park and the parts that don't take up a skinny footprint for the most part. There are tons of spots in the park that could hold another milli station and there are a decent number of areas that could easily be reworked. nobody would miss kiddy kingdom and the arcade. the dead zone where dragster is can and should be expanded. there is some space on the outside of valravyn near the marina, there is an entire swath of parking lot in front of gatekeeper near the beach. they could ditch the cabins. and surely a whole bunch of other stuff that makes more sense than my ideas that someone gets payed hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to be aware of years in advance. this is one of the most valuable plots of land on earth, they aren't goon be just be like "whoops were out of space, didn't see this coming." also if you ever mention them demolishing raptor again I'm going to send you hate mail every day for the rest of my life. That idea should not even exist.
I like the mention of the wild mouse being a good addition. I feel the importance of small and mid-range rides goes unnoticed a fair bit. I love big roller coasters but I don't like riding them over and over again. I have recently gone to Kings Dominion in Virginia and Thorpe Park in the UK, and I enjoyed the former more not because of the top tier rides (which were great for both parks) but because Thorpe Park doesn't have rides like a wild mouse or a classic woody to just simply enjoy. I don't need or want the world's most intense experience every time I go on a ride.
They can twist it into the existing situation (like Phantasialand did with... everything there... to great acclaim); especially a minimalist track like trex They could also build on the water: a world class park can figure that out and make it happen... not to mention how fucking cool and beautiful this would be It could also be built over the parking lot: again, especially a minimalist track with few supports
Cedar Creek Mine Ride takes up a HUGE plot of Land....Plus it is VERY rough... You have enough room there to put a Major Record Breaking Coaster in that plot of land.
They have some space towards the front of the park. The picnic areas by raptor are barely used anymore and they take up a decent sized plot. Also I’ve thought of doing something like what you said, but maybe they could make a new railroad line instead of a bus line (I know it would be more expensive but it would be pretty cool!)
Plus that would have the benefit of avoiding waiting through the traffic on the way to the park, so it could be much faster than driving to and from the peninsula if they run it frequently enough
I think Cedar Point should build a wooden boardwalk on the water and add coasters on it until they reach more land. It sounds stupid but it’s a great idea
I feel like they have several areas they could work with if they wanted to. Frontier town doesn’t really have any rides. It’s a petting zoo and shopping basically. The campground area could also be ripped out for park expansion if they really needed the space. You could build something over the midway on the right. It’s basically just shopping and restaurants from gatekeeper to corkscrew. If you build over the buildings that could make something big there. There’s also the parking lot for the water park. Magnum xl goes over that way, but it’s basically empty over there.
Excluding Dragster and Cedar Creek, Corkscrew/Rou/Gemini would be up to something cool and new. Cedar Creek would likely be replaced by a new mine train that’s a bit more intense, but has a lower height requirement, than Cedar Creek. Something is up with Dragster right now so let’s just watch and wait over the next year or 2
I think there is space available but they would need to move things off the peninsula. Namely I think the waterpark should be on the mainland (they have space by Castaway Bay to put it and also own like 40% of Sandusky). It's technically a separate gate anyway. Remove that and the parking lot by Magnum (or shrink it to just Breakers guests) frees up a lot of space. Also (not entirely related) I think Cedar Point should have a free shuttle for all their resort guests to the park (now it's just Breakers and Lighthouse Point, the two at the park. Not Express, Castaway Bay or Sawmill Creek) Edit: also Gemini isn't even the worst hybrid coaster at the park. That's the Mine Ride and I will not take any questions relating to its terribleness
I think it would be cool if they cashed in on their unique setting by using ferries to get patrons into their park. It would be wayyy cooler than a bus. Though I’m curious if the water is too shallow right here. They could also do what Dubai has done with their land reclamation projects.
Exactly. I don't see the space issue either, they can still fit in a lot of rides if they would decide to just build tighter, more closer together rides.
Fiesta Texas is going to have a similar problem with adding bigger coasters there just isn’t the room inside the quarry where it’s located. There is still room by the boardwalk area but it would be a really tight fit for anything large like a hyper. A giga sized coaster is out of the question and they have already stated that the quarry is too unstable to put coasters on so short of removing coasters or digging up the parking lot they are stuck.
That's my winter home park along with Seaworld SA. Fiesta Texas quarry is beautiful if you're going from November to March. The ride selection is meh though Iron Rattler is an upper-half RMC for sure. Also the dining pass food selection isn't good at Fiesta Texas, especially for 2023. No more wings on the menu (they took the ones at Bubba's in Crackaxle Canyon off the dining plan on 1/1/2023) and the only decent substantial non-junk food option is the half baked chicken at the food court (Sanger Halle, similar to the Kings Island Festhaus) but that restaurant is poorly operated and the drink refill station is missing some important drinks like the fruit punch and doesn't work most of the time. No Intamin presence at all at Fiesta Texas. Their big new draw is just a b&m dive.... snoozefest like valravn. Still an upper half Six Flags park, but overall a "B" tier park at best And yes, Sea World San Antonio is "D" tier.
I've been considering making a video about the Raptor picnic pavilion area. Since the lakeside pavilion was opened, no one uses the raptor one basically and it would open a huge already flat area for a new coaster
See you made the magic kingdom comparison with the transport to the park being a requirement and tbh as someone who grew up going to Disneyland the tram ride to the Downtown Disney area and futher to the main esplanade was just part of the experience and I loved doing it. I had the overhead spiel memorized for a while.
Removing the parking lot is a good idea, but if they didn't want to do that you can remove Rougarou and use Dragster and Rougarou's plot of land to open up more space for rides and other additions.
I dont think they need to get rid of the whole parking lot, just some of it, maybe this would force some shuttle system for overflow days but the vast majority of people could still park on the point. They also could cut the Marina in half and get rid of that marina restaurant and pool. That pains me to say because I spent a ton of time in that marina as a kid, but the park makes more in a day then summer time docks make in a year.
Depending on what they do with Dragster, you could remove some/all of that, plus Corkscrew (which nobody rides), plus Iron Dragon (which nobody rides), plus maybe even Rougarou (which nobody rides, but they should) and you've freed up the ENTIRE MIDDLE THIRD of the park to put whatever the hell you want in there, and drop a theme on the area while you're at it to match Frontiertown and the Boardwalk
Here is an idea: go universal Orlando resort and make half the parking lot a parking garage for general parking, then leave the rest as preferred parking and expansion space. Imagine the garage also having shops in it like citywalk, and a huge atrium through the center with a roller coaster going through it. Talk about hyping up your guests!
I dunno how much traffic or profit they actually get, but I've always been under the impression that the campground, and waterpark back near magnums turnaround could be completely axed for a completely new area, would be big enough for at least 1 or 2 large projects.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Take out some of those "good rides", and then move them to some of cedar fair's worse parks, such as Michigan's Adventure, Valleyfair, ect. They really deserve some love and those rides would add so much to the lesser parks in the chain.
I always feel that though it would be more expensive, they can start packing coasters together tighter like they do a blackpool pleasure beach. That park is SNUG
One thing that I think a lot of people forget about especially people who do not live in the tri-state area is, Cedar point is the only game in town and it’s a really good game. Believe that the arrow coasters will be on the chopping block soon to make room for the biggest/BADDEST/best. if you live in the metro Detroit area or even the state of Michigan in northern Ohio, Cedar point is the absolute only place that you go. I live in Michigan and every time I tell people that I’m going to Kings Island, they’ve either never heard of it, haven’t heard of it in years and didn’t know it was still there or think it’s too far to drive to because of Cedar point. I don’t think Cedar point has a space problem because they could of course do the parking lot suggestion that you recommended, which has been recommended forever. Or, they can just be a park that has the best roller coasters on the planet. I don’t believe if their brand is going to die at all.
Would it be completely out of the question to start filling in some of the lake? Thorpe Park do this but Thorpe used to be a quarry so the water probably isn't as deep as lake Eire and they own the whole plot of land including the water and i'm not sure if Cedar Point own any of the water surrounding the park so this might not work but it is a possible solution.
It would be. As Lake Erie is navigable water they would have to get permission from the feds, and that likely wouldn’t happen. They also have to deal with ice jams that form in the lake and could cause damage to any structure on the lake. They also cannot own any of the lake since it’s navigable water.
Lake Erie at its deepest point is like 400 feet iirc. So the water along the land shouldn’t be deeper than 20 feet or so. Although that does add up quickly
Even if it's possible, I doubt they're going to do this. The federal regulation hoops they'd have to jump through would be pretty substantial if they can even work out a deal with the proper authorities. Also, it's probably cost-prohibitive and creates significant engineering challenges. My guess is if they legitimately run out of space in the peninsula to expand, they'll just find a spot to build out a whole secondary park on the mainland and bus people between them. The parks would be pretty spaced out, but that seems like a way more viable solution.
i think that in the area you showed would be perfect a mack big dipper maybe with a launch…anyway phantasialand is the clear demonstration that if a park really wants to build a record breaking top tier coaster they will build it anyway…but cedar point isn’t phantasialand…
I feel like if they are doing a 500ft coaster, they might mostly put it at kings island as they are basically second cedar point and they got wayyy more space
I don't think space is as big of a problem as people think, Cedar Point seems to have acknowledged that they have reached a point of diminishing returns when it comes to adding more rides with the maintenance and operations costs. The vast majority of people would not care if Corkscrew, Gemeni, Iron Dragon, or Rougaru were taken out. Heck they could take out Magnum too it wouldn't stop anyone from visiting the park.
I doubt we'll ever see a coaster park with over 25 coasters total. It's just not necessary. They'll be swapped out. Except for Energylandia. They'll have 60 coasters by 2030. Mostly kiddie and family, but a credit's a credit.
It's funny how many people overlook Cedar Creek Mine Ride plus the central island space. There's room there for two mega-coasters. But not quite yet. I'll place my bet now: Corkscrew is a goner for the reimagined TTD, and Mine Ride will be with us for at least a few more years.
Cedar Point ran out of room when they put in Raptor or at least that is what enthusiasts kept saying. Then we got Millennium, Wicked Twister, Maverick, gatekeeper, valravn, Max Air, Skyhawk ect.... no Trex and no 4d.
I wonder if those houses by the parking lot would fight a re-zoning for the expansion of the park. I assume that anyone who lives that close to CP has to be used to it, but homeowners are crazy and will fight any sort of change just because, even if Cedar Fair own half the town.
Just came back from there yesterday for the first time in 10 years (which sucks because I went 4 times the previous decade) and I had the fast lane pass only to discover how salty I was I still had to wait in line for the steel vengeance, maverick, and valraven (millennium force was down the entire day). I still had a good time, but man there was too much new stuff to ride and not enough hours in the day to get to them all while you're with kids that have never been at all.
How about relocating the water park-specific parking lot (and maybe downsizing it, since it never fills up really) to the northeast edge of the peninsula and bulldozing those houses that occupy that land? That should be plenty to build a Trex ultra-strata with its own platinum dining pass restaurant or whatever you want.
I think a better solution than removing the parking lot and do a different thing that Disney has done: introducing a second park. It takes themed areas to a whole new level, and it allows using area on the mainland that makes sense. This is just my opinion and might not actually be very good but it was just an idea.
There are plenty of ways for the park to utilize space available. There are parks out there that have coasters on top of buildings, coasters sharing supports, coasters intertwined, there a lot of way to get clever with the space available.
They can build 1 coaster on the water nearby but it needs sturdy parts to hold it and survive wear and tear from the water and a path for people to walk on to reach it and ride it.
Gemini is so unique,, they should keep that. Magnum should go, it's just a small version of Mellenium. What they should do if they can get Dragster working again, is triple the length having it come off the hill add weave over through Mellenium. There's plenty of room over there. I mean right now dragster is a seriously kickass hill and nothing else, they could turn that into the greatest rollercoaster in the world by doing that. Another option, look up Hades 360 on RUclips, this little known ride is one of the coolest rollercoasters on the planet, and it was built underneath their parking lot. They could replace Blue Streak with something similar to that.
I could almost guarantee you corkscrew will get removed before Gemini. If they're looking for more room the first place they're probably going to go it's a picnic areas up front next would be millennium isle. And if they were to advance into the parking lot they were built a parking garage before they would start building a parking lot on the actual mainland. The people around there already hate the traffic as it is
Not to mention the employee parking lots behind the midway games over by gatekeeper and if they did remove corkscrew them parking lot and maintenance buildings to the left of it they could push the boundary all the way to the water tower
CP's biggest problem is the stereotype that CF created for the park starting in the early 90s with their focus being the promotion of the park's coaster count and nothing more. Now it's an image they've kinda backed themselves into a corner on and has been a problem for the chain as a result because the other parks have suffered as a result and CF could make just as much money if they'd put their cap ex funding into their other parks as well.
Dont forget Cedar Fair was ready to snipe gemini for TTD, if they removed the the parking lot and Gemini the round about could be in geminis area and the main coaster could be in the parking lot?
What if they just got rid of Soak City? It doesn’t pull that much of a crowd cause who goes to Cedar Point for the water park? The two times I was there, the slides were mediocre and there was no one there, and I also just wanted to go back into Cedar Point and ride the roller coasters. I personally think they should just get rid of Soak City and keep the water parks to the hotels like Castaway Bay or Key or whatever it’s called that has a pretty good indoor water park.
build on the parking lot. Run shuttles from Cleveland and Toledo, build an elevated garage in Sandusky and run a shuttle from that. Collaborate with Amtrak to get a better connection with the Capitol Limited and the Lake Shore Limited. Build up the peninsula parking lot. Sure, those things I mentioned aren't free, but if the park can bring in more people and more revenue by getting rid of the on-island parking lot, it'l pay for itself.
I think if they were going to utilize the parking lot, they should have done it in 2013 when they redid the main entrance and Gatekeeper. maybe they need to buy up a few dozen homes on the Chaussee, raze them and put parking there. that would eliminate the whole needing a bus problem however that doesn't eliminate the Gatekeeper problem. unless of course, you just push the existing main gate plus Gatekeeper forward but that just seems really expensive. also, property on the Chaussee is likely very expensive. they could maybe put a corridor down the one side of the parking lot. on the side where Blue Streak sits. maybe take like 1/4 to 1/3 of the lot on that side which would also include that picnic pavilion. maybe they need to consider going toward the marina as well
They could add artificial land by filling in some of the lake. It will have to be maintained and might have an environmental effect. Or with the parking lot idea they can use a boat ferry to move people to the park that way they can go around traffic. Also, restore TTD (I wish.)
You are SO MUCH BETTER than these idiots who make LAME prediction videos! Kudos to you! Enjoyed the sense of humor! Frontier Trail is a total waste of space. Tons of room there with hopefully minimal tree/vegetation removal.
yeah space sill always be a problem for parks but I don't think it as big of a problem for Cedar Point as you're making it out to be. There's lots of parks that get creative with the little space they have like Grona Land in Stockholm where they have a B&M invert ('Monster') with a layout that goes over the park buildings and pathways. Or Knotts Berry's rumoured giga would remove most of the parking if they built it, but then they could reconfigure the parking to have multi-level lots or even underground ones. Cedar Point does seem like it has more space than you would think at first but even if it didn't they could theoretically build something that goes over the water if they really needed to.
I went to Cedar point earlier this year and I would say that magnum should be the next ride to go. I recognize that it’s really significant and I could see it being worth saving if they did a re-tracking but I had a pretty rough experience, but hey, if they retracted, I’d say keep it.
They could go into the parking lot Alittle but it be tough. Kinda like what magic mountain did with scream. But besides that. I don’t see planet snoopy getting removed as it’s a big draw. If anything I see kiddy kingdom getting removed. Even though that’s not enough
Or they could create more land by land reclaiming. It's expensive but you can basically endlessly expand. Thorpe park in the UK has done this multiple times
On them running out of space, why don't they just create more land. This has been done before, in the UK Thorpe Park (which is also on an island in the middle of a lake) just made a whole new island to put a coaster on.
they still have enough room for future expansions, if that were ever to become the issue they can build a multi level parking garage , or make a new parking area on the mainland with some kind of bus service , however i don't think this will ever become an issue , there is still a lot a of land left to build on if they want to , the real issue is probably more something like the investment cost and added maintenance costs of new "extra" coasters. already having 17 coasters , some of witch will need to be replaced sooner than later , it just doesn't make sense for cedar point to keep adding more coasters and attractions to the park. as much as everyone wants to see "extra" rides and coasters being added to the park , it just doesn't make any sense business wise, its not about growth but maintaining the 3.6 mil annual visitors they get and making more money from them , with better experiences , hotels , services , food etc
We actually said they they *should* move parking off peninsula to expand the park after we went a couple years ago. As long as they had a train or bus system that operated efficiently and was included in the price of parking I think it would be a small price to pay to get all that extra land for the park.
I also think that the idea of a preferred parking, and a normal parking accessible by monorail is not as crazy as you think... People do not have to drive through that road, so the access to highway is quicker. You free LOTS of space to expand. And also, the park looks more exclusive. Want to stay there or park there? Pay more. Want the standard experience? Take the monorail (wich can be build at the cost of a medium-sized project). Overall, it is not a crazy thought... More people than you think have the same thoughts, and I am pretty sure that some Cedar Fair minds have also that on the board...
With the amount of room left behind from the removal of Dinosaurs Alive and the removal of Stinger, Dorney Park in Allentown, Pa., should get the next "Big" coaster in the chains. Their Hyper, Steel Force, is not the top coaster and draw that this park needs.
They have tons of space in reality if they actually got creative. I mean, by Millennium Force and the island you could put multiple coasters in there. Could put coasters along the lake etc. All expensive but still.
idk if this is even an option but removing the lighthouse point campground or atleast some of it??? or maybe like adding artificial land onto the peninsula lmfao
I could legitimately see them doing the “let’s dump some dirt in the ocean” move but the question would be if they would be allowed to and depending on if they actually own the water around the park
I agree but the one problem gatekeeper being the front entrance I do have a plan tho
@@MrWyn17 I was thinking the same thing. I love the idea of expanding into the parking lot, but that defeats the whole purpose of GateKeeper. Cedar Point has such an iconic entrance with GateKeeper. Out of curiosity, what idea for a solution were you thinking of?
Agreed
@@FinesseBTW the idea is make a little part out side the park right in front on of gatekeeper this is where the Monarail would drop you off then have the park circle around this part so the entrance is still where gatekeeper is but you get more space

My thoughts exactly. I mean, from the looks of it, the waters around the peninsula aren't THAT deep at all compared to the rest of Lake Erie. Maybe land reclamation could be a possible option for Cedar Fair, if they wish to expand Cedar Point without sacrificing the parking lot.
That would cost a shitload of money tho
Great idea. Just call the Netherlands and ask if we can help 😂😂😂

I've read before that all that water, or the lagoons, if filled need to be replaced elsewhere in the park for some reason idr at the moment. Would be easier to just build over em like mantis/rougarou
@@robw5741 I wasn't suggesting they remove the water, just that they could build part of the ride(s) over it.

I don't know how much I would trust that answer. What else is he going to say? "Yeah, we're running out of space, and the park's gonna become completely stagnant in ten years, sorry."
@@_very I don't believe that
@@_very lol
There a company they can't really just go yea we hosed.
@@chrismdb5686 Mount Olympus and Indiana Beach do that a bit too.
And abroad there's the masters of this, Grona Lund.
@@chrismdb5686 the skyrush-comet area is a perfect example
@@FinesseBTW Ita also stacked with Great Bear and Sooperdooperlooper

Cedar Point actually has more land left than realized. The park is really spread out and you could build a roller coaster that winds through the park.
Yea that’s a good point actually
No they don’t
Supports and footers think of that.
As someone who's home park is Indiana Beach this.
@@williameckerle4113 lol I've never seen a park built on top of itself so much it looks like roller coaster tycoon love it
A great solution for the bus route issue is to make a parking structure instead. That way they can get more land and keep the parking on the peninsula. I know they are expensive, but if it means getting more rides I think its worth it. Great video!
They have confirmed they never will
Think about what getting out of the top deck of a parking structure during closing would be like. It’s already a mess getting off the peninsula, those decks would be a nightmare
works for Universal...
God help us if they do that. The traffic jams I've had to sit in at Disneyland's parking structures have made me pull my hair out.
Here's what European parks do which American Parks are too dumb to realize:
Just build the new coaster that crosses over or below other coasters.
Phantasialand, Europapark and even Canada's Wonderland does that.
Coasters just need space for Queue and Station, you can easily design a coaster to go around already existing rides or buildings.
Jaguar! iirc goes through Monty’s loop
Every time I hear someone talk about a park running out of space, I tell them to take a good look at Gröna Lund. Even Hersheypark, before their major expansion a few years ago, was able to shoehorn Skyrush into a space nobody ever thought a hyper coaster could fit in. If a park truly wants a new ride, they'll find the space for it.
and then there’s the netherlands
Honestly I don't really see the space problem. They could a) build a parking garage like universal and save tons of parking space or b) just start building more compact and closer together coasters that interact with each other. Or they could even try to reclaim land from the sea or build a pier (missed potential for the boardwalk area there!). Also, there is still tons of backstage area that probably could be converted without operational issues for the park.
Or build coasters over other coasters like Thorpe park in the UK I believe
@@kevinthompson6986 thats blackpool pleasure beach
I have never heard anyone talk about CP relocating their main maintenance building and CF headquarters off of the peninsula. That would open up quite a bit of space. There is also a plot of land next to Valravn where employee dorms used to be located.
The Amazement Shop is already off peninsula which houses most of maintenance. the new employee dorms are also off peninsula. I bet they could 86 that old arcade
@@dindog22 the maintenance shop is still on peninsula, and is quite large.
I feel like Theme Park Predictions read this comment…
I really wish that their new boardwalk themed area was on a pier. That would have freed up a good amount of space and given it a real cool boardwalk feel.
I think the Dragster redo is gonna be super interesting, because it seems like they’re basically gonna be having that be their next big coaster.
You should be Cedar Fair CEO bruh!!!
I hate this idea so much it’s dumb why would you remove steel vengeance tf?
They can twist it into the existing situation (like Phantasialand did with... everything there... to great acclaim); especially a minimalist track like trex
They could also build on the water: a world class park can figure that out and make it happen... not to mention how fucking cool and beautiful this would be
It could also be built over the parking lot: again, especially a minimalist track with few supports
I can also definitely see them expanding the land by dumping sand into the area to create an artifical island expansion.
The picnic area is good. I went there last year in July and there was no one there.
Something is up with Dragster right now so let’s just watch and wait over the next year or 2
What about valravn u could probably relocate that
I think there is space available but they would need to move things off the peninsula. Not Express, Castaway Bay or Sawmill Creek)
Edit: also Gemini isn't even the worst hybrid coaster at the park. That's the Mine Ride and I will not take any questions relating to its terribleness
They'll probably work on a Coney island type setup and move things around, bumber boats and more
I think it would be cool if they cashed in on their unique setting by using ferries to get patrons into their park. It would be wayyy cooler than a bus. Though I’m curious if the water is too shallow right here. They could also do what Dubai has done with their land reclamation projects.
Yeah loved that about Magic Kingdom
I think it may not actually be a bad plan. Move parking off the peninsula, and create a light rail line to and from.
Cedar Point has LOADS of space if they start to build like phantasialand
Exactly. I don't see the space issue either, they can still fit in a lot of rides if they would decide to just build tighter, more closer together rides.
@@rct800 yeah something like Taron would fit under Millies Lifthill
Still an upper half Six Flags park, but overall a "B" tier park at best
And yes, Sea World San Antonio is "D" tier.
@@jandrew1994 I agree, they have a few decent coasters but Fiesta is no Busch Gardens.
4:59 I like it. The monorail announcements are music to my ears🥲
I've been considering making a video about the Raptor picnic pavilion area. Since the lakeside pavilion was opened, no one uses the raptor one basically and it would open a huge already flat area for a new coaster
I always see that when I’m riding raptor no one uses it. It’s pretty pointless.
2:02 SAME FOR VALLEYFAIR. THAT RIDE IS ALMOST ALWAYS CLOSED EACH TIME I GO 💀
I’d like to see them build a power splash on the lake as that’s not using any pre-occupied space and is quite unique
Also, Gemini is a fun ride and an absolute capacity machine when both sides are working....they'll keep it until it literally falls apart
Also also, they've more or less committed themselves to the current front of the park being the front of the park for a LONG time with Gatekeeper
babe wake up new coastoons video dropped
Here is an idea: go universal Orlando resort and make half the parking lot a parking garage for general parking, then leave the rest as preferred parking and expansion space. Imagine the garage also having shops in it like citywalk, and a huge atrium through the center with a roller coaster going through it. Talk about hyping up your guests!
I dunno how much traffic or profit they actually get, but I've always been under the impression that the campground, and waterpark back near magnums turnaround could be completely axed for a completely new area, would be big enough for at least 1 or 2 large projects.
There’s a ton of space back there they could easily use that for a ton more stuff.
Back off my water park. It might not be the best but it's all we got.
Pullin G's harness free on a speed slide all day.
Meanwhile Kings Island has enough unused land you could open a 2nd park, lol.
Easily after they got rid of Vortex.
Once, I thought about a futuristic fake land that would expand the park and then realized how unrealistic the idea of it is.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Take out some of those "good rides", and then move them to some of cedar fair's worse parks, such as Michigan's Adventure, Valleyfair, ect. They really deserve some love and those rides would add so much to the lesser parks in the chain.
I suspect that's the plan for a lot of California's Great America rides when they finally close
I always feel that though it would be more expensive, they can start packing coasters together tighter like they do a blackpool pleasure beach. That park is SNUG
"Random rides, random rides, random rides....BOOM! Frontier Town" 😂
@@amanor409 Yeah that's what i thought, the water is probably more turbulent aswell because lake Eire is massive and isn't as enclosed as Thorpe.
It’s amazing how you always come out with good video ideas
Or, they can hold a giant parking garage and use the old parking lot land to put more stuff in.
i think that in the area you showed would be perfect a mack big dipper maybe with a launch…anyway phantasialand is the clear demonstration that if a park really wants to build a record breaking top tier coaster they will build it anyway…but cedar point isn’t phantasialand…
I feel like if they are doing a 500ft coaster, they might mostly put it at kings island as they are basically second cedar point and they got wayyy more space
Subbed - great editing. Good POV. Disagree about wicked twister I rode that ride when it opened 😂 #old
I don't think space is as big of a problem as people think, Cedar Point seems to have acknowledged that they have reached a point of diminishing returns when it comes to adding more rides with the maintenance and operations costs. The vast majority of people would not care if Corkscrew, Gemeni, Iron Dragon, or Rougaru were taken out. Heck they could take out Magnum too it wouldn't stop anyone from visiting the park.
I actually like Gemini CCMR and others I could care less
I doubt we'll ever see a coaster park with over 25 coasters total. It's just not necessary. They'll be swapped out.
Except for Energylandia. They'll have 60 coasters by 2030. Mostly kiddie and family, but a credit's a credit.
Last time I was at CP was in 2000 when _Millennium Force_ was new! Haven't been there since... Hopefully, I can do that sometime in the future...
It's funny how many people overlook Cedar Creek Mine Ride plus the central island space. There's room there for two mega-coasters. But not quite yet. I'll place my bet now: Corkscrew is a goner for the reimagined TTD, and Mine Ride will be with us for at least a few more years.
I think with clever building techniques they could get more out of the area, just look at the Tivoli parks in Scandinavia.
Cedar Point ran out of room when they put in Raptor or at least that is what enthusiasts kept saying. Then we got Millennium, Wicked Twister, Maverick, gatekeeper, valravn, Max Air, Skyhawk ect.... no Trex and no 4d.
I hear a while back that they have only developed about 80% of their land so they still have land left over to work with
I wonder if those houses by the parking lot would fight a re-zoning for the expansion of the park. I assume that anyone who lives that close to CP has to be used to it, but homeowners are crazy and will fight any sort of change just because, even if Cedar Fair own half the town.
With the parking lot idea, a monorail could work. Alton towers does this, and it makes it feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere.
This is just my opinion and might not actually be very good but it was just an idea.
i love the fact that you’re always using metro boomin instrumentals 😭
Could they build more land? I know there are some man made islands, so its probably not impossible.
There are plenty of ways for the park to utilize space available. There are parks out there that have coasters on top of buildings, coasters sharing supports, coasters intertwined, there a lot of way to get clever with the space available.
They can build 1 coaster on the water nearby but it needs sturdy parts to hold it and survive wear and tear from the water and a path for people to walk on to reach it and ride it.
babe, wake up! coastoons posted!!!😲😲
And iron dragon and or rougarou
ODNR would never allow dredging or building on the lake
You are SO MUCH BETTER than these idiots who make LAME prediction videos! Kudos to you! Enjoyed the sense of humor! Frontier Trail is a total waste of space. Tons of room there with hopefully minimal tree/vegetation removal.
If allowed by local authorities, they could place support piers in the lake and just have the station on dry land.
Finally a video notes the bugs at night!!! My man!!!
yeah space sill always be a problem for parks but I don't think it as big of a problem for Cedar Point as you're making it out to be.
I recognize that it’s really significant and I could see it being worth saving if they did a re-tracking but I had a pretty rough experience, but hey, if they retracted, I’d say keep it.
that's blasphemous
They can just buy the whole island now there are people who live on that island so I don’t know how legal this is but that’s a fast option
Just do as the Dutch do: build more land
Honestly if Cedar Point wants to expand, they should raise some of the parking lot and then make a parking garage.
