    Regarding Gerard's comments about government's not putting the investment in sport. The people championing Tassie (especially the elite and organisations like Fox) are the first to complain about having to pay tax.

      Such a small brain/commie (I know they’re the same thing) thing to say. Parties win and lose elections on whether they raise taxes on the common people. No one wants to pay taxes. Everyone complains. The top 1% pay 19% of the countries tax. The top 10% pay 55% of our tax.

      1. If you enter the draft you have to go to the club who picked you.
      2. That's the whole point of signing bonuses and a larger salary cap. The money going to be thrown at players is going to be too hard to say no to.
      My biggest issue is 19 teams means a rolling bye which is stupid and unfair. Would much rather a bye mid or late season the day round 4. Also to the teams at the bottom of the ladder when they come in good luck.

  • @scottmcnaughton539
    @scottmcnaughton539 7 месяцев назад

    How the AFL look to build out the team will be interesting. The way Freo was established had major issues. But then so did the Gold Coast. Being so reliant on the draft is very risky. GC put too much in having the best player lead a bunch of kids. They needed more experienced players in to start with. And the other issue with being so reliant on the draft is that some draft years are just not very deep for talent. GWS had better draft classes but also supported with better senior depth.
    I think the AFL almost needs to insert a rule that for the first season Tassie can get 1 player (contracted or not) from every AFL listed team. That will allow them to be far more competitive straight away, and also allow them to target experienced players in areas where prior draft classes are weak.
    But all that said, I think for the team to go ahead the AFL needs to change their perspective on having a new stadium. Looks like an incredible waste of money for a market that really can't justify such a project. The money being split over upgrades at Bludstone & Launceston would be a more practical option.
