They did a European tour of IKEA stores, but didn't tell IKEA. They recently trolled their record company and fans by saying they'd gone "Pop", and releasing a series of deliberately dull (but strangely catchy) singles. One of the guys has a PHD in Astrophysics, and this is really just a hobby to them. They do (normally very awkward) interviews with reactors, and have their own reaction channel too.

The "Valhalla" in itself was indeed a building, translatable as the "hall of the slain" since the Norse idea of Heaven for the fallen in battle was to spend eternity drinking, eating and fighting together with the gods and the heores, waiting for the Ragnarok (the end of the world) to come.
Plus, making Odin wear a Santa Claus hat is particularly fitting, actually, since the oldest origin of what would then become the concept of St. Nicholas bringing gifts during Christmas, later leading to the contemporary idea of Santa Claus, has its roots in the Yule festivity, the pagan equivalent of Christmas, and the idea that Odin would descend from Asgard to the world of men and, in disguise, visit and concede gifts to the worthy ones.

Christmas or Jól - The traditions that were Christianized Christmas or Jól is an old tradition where people worshiped and sacrificed to the gods, especially Odin (Wodan). It can be traced all the way back to the Germanic people (500-400 BC,), but like many other pagan festivities and traditions, Christmas was also Christianized and transformed into the Christmas we know today. However, there are many of the old traditions that are still alive when we celebrate Christmas: We decorate our home with straw Christmas bucks. The Vikings did this to honor the god Thor and his two goats Tandgrisner and Tandgnjost, who pulled his chariot across the sky. Right up until the 19th century, it was actually goats that brought the Christmas presents to the children, and in Finland Santa Claus is called “joulupukki”, which directly translated means Christmas goat. Another tradition from the Viking Age is the Christmas ham. It symbolizes Særimner, which was eaten every night in Valhalla and which re-emerged after dinner. Today, the pig is enjoyed as roast pork, Christmas ham, marzipan pig etc. For the Vikings, Jól was strongly associated with Odin, who was also called Jól father or Father Christmas. It was at this last time of the year that one could see Odin riding his eight-legged horse Slejpner across the sky and visiting people in their homes. He is very reminiscent of the Santa Claus we know today. Christmas eventually became synonymous with Christmas, and the Christmas father was replaced by the cheerful image of Santa Claus And more 😁 (translated) (The santa hat on Odin)

Valhalla is where Viking warriors were supposed to go after dying in battle. In Valhalla they could spend the day fighting (possibly dying) and the night feasting with the gods.
Nanowar of Steel decided to treat the IKEA catalog as a sacred text, and this is what came of that idea.
"Angus McFife" is actually the name of a Gloryhammer song. When Gloryhammer sang the song, the role of Angus McFife was sung by their former vocalist, Thomas Winkler, who plays Odin in this video. Thomas Winkler is Swiss, which I believe makes him the only Scandinavian involved in this production.
Many of the saints were originally pagan gods who were co-opted by Christians as a way of getting pagans to convert to Christianity. There's a theory that Saint Nicholas was based on Odin, which is why Odin wears a Santa hat in this video.
Systembolaget is a chain of government run liquor stores in Sweden, the only place where serious alcohol is available.
14:37 "And back to boring Christmas with the family." Worse, he's bought a whole bunch of stuff from IKEA, and guess who gets to assemble it? Certainly not his wife, *she* didn't buy it.

Viking prayer songs!!!! Lot of you folks in the younger generations have no idea. I grew up with Dr. Dimento show on radio. Can't forget Weird Al Yankovic, Frank Zappa, Monty Python, Spinal Tap, all that stuff and the Nanowar guys should definately get into that group of epicness because they are killer! Oh and the boxed IKEA package at the end OMFG I almost lost my coffee on the screen. Every damned year instead of drinking with the firends and family xmas eve I am up till all hours of the morning putting something stupid together! Lonely island boys are hilarious also. Very dirty yes but hilarious.

People tend to forget that Odin wasn’t a particularly nice or benevolent god.. he was actually feared and not worshipped as much as Thor for instance.
And Vahalla are Odins golden halls it’s his domain

Well Oden was good to those he loved and bad to those he hated. And he was worshiped, there was a temple in Sweden with three thrones one was for oden. But yes Tor was very liked amongst people, he was the protector of humankind, and The whole bear cult thing.

It closes early on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays and holidays like Christmas.
They are pretending they are modern Swedes with the reference.

The caption bellow the official video says everything you need to know about this track.
"Great literature has always been a source of inspiration for heavy metal bands.
J.R.R. Tolkien for Blind Guardian, H.P. Lovecraft for Cradle of Filth, The Holy Bible for Stryper and now The IKEA Catalog for Nanowar Of Steel" 🤣😂 Geniuses 👏👏
You have to be on your tows with them because besides the obvious comedy there's a lot of easter eggs and hidden jokes in their content. Also obviously with many of their songs the more one knows about the subject in the song the more funnier it'll be 😁

    • @alanfoster6589

Just do Gabonzo robot with subtitles from Nanowar and i dare you to not chucke. Also in Typical Nanowar stule they added that masterpiece of a lyric in "hebrew" which compines a vary famous prayer and norse mithology. That level of subtle details is what makes a funny song into a masterpiece.
