- Today we talk about the fate of the most legendary Power Ranger ever. Tommy Oliver, he has been the Green Ranger, the White Ranger, Zeo Ranger Red, Red Turbo Ranger and the Black Dino Thunder Ranger. But what happened to him after all of that?
Well thanks to Boom Studios and their fantastic comic books, we have a Canonical answer. They teamed up with Jason David Frank to create Soul of the Dragon. A one shot comic book that covers the ultimate fate of the greatest ranger of all time.

Power rangers is like a fraternity/sorority for all of them now, he's probably not doing stunts and stuff anymore but I think he's always at comic panels when he's free reping the brand. Green ranger or something might literally get put on his grave when he makes that trip.......
This makes sense. Before his retirement, in a near-death experience, Tommy had to face the imprints of every ranger he'd ever been to prove himself to himself and come back to. It should be noted that the Green Ranger did kick Tommy's ass in that confrontation but he acquitted himself well enough he'd proven his right to live. The simple truth of Tommy Oliver is this; he's at his most awesome as... Tommy Oliver.
It's like Bruce told Terry in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, "I've been thinking about something you once told me, and you're wrong. It's not Batman that makes you worthwhile, it's the other way around. Never tell yourself anything different."
It goes for every other character that's answered the call, worn a morpher & put on the suit

This book does a nice job of matching most of the existing lore. From the various shows and videos, we know Tommy and Kat got married and had a kid. Only thing is he wasn't SPD but used a regular beeping wrist worn morpher. So, the story was in the period where Bridge was the Red ranger and Sky was in charge

Kind of crazy and sad when reading the comics over, Kat says he is insufferable when he “gets like this.” Meaning, Tommy had depression just like his actor must have, JDF (Tommy) took his life 2 days ago when he had so many plans to see us. I wish we could have all connected somehow and sent a shockwave of happiness his way, for real. He made us so happy. We did our best, but battling internal demons can be the hardest battle a person can ever have. May he Rest in Power.

Our faces always lit up when we saw him on screen. I still don't know why Tommy Oliver is not talked about much in pop culture
He is talked about and remembered a lot. Just look at my recent video. He changed a lot of lives
LOVED the comic for this! Makes me wish we had more stories like this when veteran rangers hang up their helmets for good to pass it on to the next generation. Too bad we didn't get more Sky in this comic. Would love for him and Tommy to exchange tales about the old days!
Dear Haves and Have Nots: I am that cute heroic ally who came to Jason David Frank's rescue when he came to Dragon Con and was stuck in a cash only rut. Thank goodness I gave him the beginners card reader from Paypal, so that he can accept Paypal and major credit cards for his pictures with autographs.
He gave me an autographed picture in which he was about to transform into The Green Ranger and it was a good thing I remembered that if you are a fellow superhero, you would get it for free, from one superhero to another.
We did a photo shoot together, so that the world would know that Danger Woman is a Power Ranger ally and does a good job in looking out for Tommy when he comes to Dragon Con.

Tommy Oliver has 4 legendary Rangers like 4 saint beasts like Chinese constellations White Tiger, Azure (Green) Dragonzord ,Vermillion Hawk (Fenghuang /Zeo 5 Red Phoenix)and Black Turtle (Xianwu/Genbu/ Brontosaurus Dino thunder).

I think the Centineal Knight from PR Operation Overdrive made that morpher.
I think its said in the comics that Billy and some other woman made it for him.
I was kinda hoping we’d get a full summary of Tommy’s life after leaving full time active duty, forever red mission, becoming a doctor, legendary battle, dimensions in danger, and retirement. I know we know it all but it still would have been cool.
I’m pretty sure Tommy was supposed to appear in the Operation Overdrive and Beast Morphers crossover episodes but chose not to

Power Rangers gets passed around more than a cheap hooker. this franchise is clearly popular enough to still get made so i don't understand why no company wants to hold onto the license for more than a few years. i can't think of another franchise that has been owned by so many different companies and studios

I like to think that after Justin was first left on Earth, and particularly after his appearance In Space, he kept in touch with Tommy and the other earthbound former Rangers.
His revelation that the Turbo powers were still working is thus what sent Tommy into his quest to research rudimentary Paleontology and detail all the types of powersets, as seen with Dr. O's files in Dino Thunder.
This provides a nice reason for his seeming focus on paleontology and other powersets. He desires his old powers.
Much like Drakkon sought out powersets for his own personal gain to fill a void within himself, Tommy seeks out his old powers for the same reason.
How the Morpher got created no one knows. It was only hinted that either Billy or Angela Fairweather from lightspeed rescue might be involved

I disagree. It was an out of character move and the contents of the letter referring to him as a brother? You are not physically drawn to your brother. I never thought of the Zeo Christmas episode as canon, but a possible future and if time had passed and Tommy had settled in Reefside, why Kat? They were never believable and it was just a writing team move since AJ left. Kim did grow into a strong individual which in turn and years apart would make them stronger together. Kat was a weak link.

The problems with Tommy's master morpher made the story way more suspenseful and engaging
I need a one shot on how he got the Master Morpher. And is that the only one? I think Jason and Adam both deserve a Master Morpher. Maybe those 3 going on a quest to receive a master Morpher

The fact that Tommy does have some kind authority/presence in the spd leadership says a lot on how much he did as a ranger.
Also, spd takes place in 2025, knowing that Tommy made a name in it, either by helping build it or as a consultant/specialist since they recognize him, he probably morphed last during a fight for them, it would make the year about 2035, maybe later in my opinion
I love how this comic gave closure to Finster. It'd been assumed he was killed by the Z-Wave in PRiS, but since he wasn't killed on-screen, bringing him back worked.

What surprised me the most and what I really, REALLY liked about Soul of the Dragon, was his friendship with Finster, since this is actually another similiarity with Drakkon, who's only friend was Finster as well (even though that friendship ended badly for Finster 5... though I am still not sure, it is hard to read Drakkons emotion in that scene, but the way the lips are formed while he snaps Finsters neck make me feel like he really didn't wanted to do it, but he had to...)
Exclusive only to the comics due to it being alternate canon or one of many possible futures since the future is not truly set in stone, Tommy simply retired with Katherine, leaving the world saving to his son and the S.P.D. team.
But based on the main universe canon a.k.a. On TV, Tommy is still an active Power Ranger albeit only when he needs to morph and take action.
Nah it seems it’s official. The actor just announced he’s no longer gonna be doing this role today. On Insta.

This was my first PR comic. It brought me back in to PR, and I've collected all of the MMPR graphic novel to date. I'm going to start on GGPR soon, and the others. Great story and I love the channel.

The only problem I have with this comic/novel is Lokar.
In the show, Rita had to do a magic ritual to fully summon Lokar to their dimension. Lokar himself can’t open portals between the dimensions otherwise he would have just floated through at anytime in the show (I know some people will probably say that the Lokar in the show was probably an illusion or something. But the problem with that is that Lokar got nearly destroyed by the Dino Ultrazord. If he was an illusion he wouldn’t have gotten hit physically or have the need to flee.)
I think it would be best to think of this story as an elseworld story.
He got stronger in-between MMPR and Soul Of The Dragon/SOTD.
@@MountainMemelord Is that the cannon reason? I still find the story rather inconsistent considering Lokar was a floating head in the show, but the SOTD story randomly gave him a body (visually made him less intimidating to me).

I'm not sure what the issue is, tbh. Lokar didn't send himself through any portals in this story. He sent SCORPINA through (with strings attached) using some complicated ritual, and eventually dragged her back. It really is just as simple as that. Also, the evolution of his design feels more like a nitpick, since there was always the possibility we just never _saw_ his body before.

there was an episode of MMPR where we saw a glimpse of his future. He had married Kat and they had a son and grandchild. There son was a ranger. So all of this stays in cannon from the show.
After he handed off his morpher to TJ in Turbo, Tommy became a genius because he got his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees in seven years COMBINED. It typically takes ten years to do that.
I was sold on this book the minute I heard Kyle Higgins was writing it

oh man lightspeed rescue was one of my favourites, i grew up with mmpr lightspeed rescue and lost galaxy, sadly i missed out on turbo zeo in space and others i kinda wanna catch up now tbh but yeah nothing beats that guitar lick of the og good ol 90's where everything was metal, please excuse me while i go listen to 90's nostalga themes like xmen tas spiderman tas and mmpr 👌👌👌

I haven't watched power rangers since mystic force and that was years ago. And out if all the power rangers series I liked Ninja Storm was and still is my most favorite out of all of them. But I do like some of the power rangers that Tommy was a part of, his roll in Dino Thunder was my most favorite.

So JJ is the new S.P.D. Green Ranger when Bridge became S.P.D. Blue Ranger and Sky became S.P.D. Red Ranger.
Not really bridge became the red ranger and sky took over for Kruger as doggie was promoted to the main branch of SPD where birdie was before. Birdie retired and is now in Miami. JJ became the SPD green with the dragon shield. Jack also came back as a ranger according to a post from one of the people behind power rangers storylines.

@@lancethedragonmaster8562 he comes back as a trio with skye and bridge. Jck is the ranger prime, skye is the deka ranger, and bridge is the red ranger. They’re a special unit called the fire squad. It gives jack the freedom to continue his everyday life like he wanted while still being able to help on the side as a special unit.

This was a brilliant story, I'd love to see this as a mini-series like how Falcon and Winter Soldier was done or even better still a full length movie!
So what happened that allowed him to have his powers back in in super megaforce then? Cuz he was seen with both his white ranger dagger and the green ranger outfit.

I saw the first episode, and I was hooked. I would get out of school, and play the soap opera of my life which was the show. Thank you for doing this deep dives into story arcs and characters from this amazing franchise. It means so much to me, and I’m sad I’ve only just discovered you in 2022! I promise to bring more subscribers because all my friends were into the Power Rangers just like I was. This is like gospel to my ears.
I finally just read the comic after buying it months ago. Genuinely fantastic stuff and 100% canon for me.
