'Forced Goldar to kill his own brother' lol, it's always surprising how much better/darker the comics are to the actual series. It's like day and night.
I know, he is so overkill. He just casually ordered that to Goldar, tosed him Silverback's sword and said "yep, you take him down or I'll do the same to you". So Goldar killed his own brother using his own brother's sword; and by Goldar's culture (they have this philosophy of "you keep what you kill") that means now the sword belongs to him. Zedd is savage.
What gives me nightmares is that freak Thrakk. We all knew he was made getting backshots in the back of the RV. It has a bed in there for a reason.....
In the console and PC versions of the video game super ledgends lord zedd came back. He revealed that his purified self became an archeologist and found an artifact that corrupted him back into lord zedd.
He scared me as a kid, too, but looking back as an adult...he's actually kind of a dumbass. During the "Changing of the Zords" arc, for example, he was transported into the Command Center (when he already had the upper hand, keep in mind) to negotiate with the Rangers. Like...okay...why didn't he just kill them then and there? He was already winning! The actual fuck...

Well... In the power rangers video game Super Legends, we see that Lord Zedd's story doesn't actually end with being purified and banished to greens of the Angel Groove Country Club. His purified self is working as an archeologist, he discovers magical artifacts that allow him to glimpse into the past or future. He gets curious about his past life as Evil Lord Zedd and peeks. Evil past Zedd senses someone watching him, and he reaches out with his mind, discovers his future human self, and corrupts him, turning him back into a villain again and the main antagonist of the video game.
Im honestly kinda happy they brought him back in the new series. I'm quite intrigued to see how they play him, especially in this new era, and new generation of fans.
Reaghoul said he could resurrect anyone from any point in their history. He’s a recreation of the original from before he was purified. The original is still out there somewhere.
The biggest mystery about Lord Zedd was for me, the fact that Rita Repulsa became the Mystic Rangers leader as "Mystic Mother, The Empress of Good Magic." But whatever happened to Lord Zedd's fate is unknown. He just is not around anymore in Power Ranger History.
My bad. I did some homework and you are correct. Mystic mother is not udonna. In fact mystic mother is quite literally Rita. Sometime after the events of in space and her and zedd became human she regained her magical powers and chose this time to fight for good. It is actually mystia mother/Rita that gave the mystic rangers access to the morphing grid. Kinda awesome tbh. I feel like a horrible fan that I never knew this and I loved mystic force.

Just so odd that the human formaly known as Zedd turned human and in the newest show Dino Fury, they brought back Lord Zedd, at a earlier point in time and modified him abit. (Sad part was iirc they mention they could only do this since Lord Zedd is dead.) (To me that means the human that was Lord Zedd has past away.) His wife regained her powers and gave Mystic Force thier powers. But then through use of a special alien gun, he is revived as a powered up version of Lord Zedd. With first a slave collar on him and now totally free reeking havok in Dino Fury.

A epic zord fight against some monsters and a rematch to that 1 on 1 fight with the white ranger they teased before zeo And given that Zedd took away the green ranger powers from him, it so should of been Tommy with that tiger sword that took the kill strike on Zedd
That explains why both Rita and Goldar knew and feared Zed. He really needs to come back into the power timeline. Even if it's to lead a group of rangers. Him, Rita and Tommy all start their own group.
I don't know for Rita returning after what happened to her in Mystic Force and the fact that her actrice is decease, but Zedd returning as a mentor for the Rangers would be quite interesting considering how ironic it is.
It was a shame they had to tone down how intimidating he was because of some crybaby parents complaining he was too scary. I hadn’t been on the edge of my seat watching the show since the first appearance of the green ranger. Also, I had no idea Goldar had a brother.
I have to admit that when Zedd first arrived, I found his looks quite disturbing, I had never seen a supervillian SO hideously ugly before that.But I got use to him after a while. I had not the slightest clue that Rita would return in the middle of season 2, and marry Zedd!! Originally, they HATED each other!

They’re killing it with the comics. They’re currently setting up the main villains for In Space, but the story is still set in the MMPR season, so there’s plenty of a chance we’ll see more Zedd. Every time he’s on panel, he shows his best features
I really loved this video. As much as I am a power rangers fan I did not know this in-depth history of Lord Zedd, just didn’t read into it like this. Knowing this now has increased my appreciation for the character. Good job.
Some of it was expanded universe explanation of origin never made cannon in the show still a great video though cause I love the show has fans like this I have loved the show since 93 and still look forward to the new episodes

Great video. There was actually a fan-made episode called Scorpion Rain. It's set during Zeo and explains how Serpentara wound up being on the Moon. Right next to Mesagog and Ransik, Zedd was one of the few villains who looked genuinely intimidating and had a grotesque appearance to them.
Always liked lord zedd as a kid. Started off as this scary villain and as time went on, the humour came out and at the end I was happy he was purified along with Rita
I always assumed that during Turbo, Zedd and company took time off because Rita became pregnant and it was a difficult pregnancy. I mean she got headaches all the time when she wasn’t pregnant, who knows how hard on her it was. So Zedd being the good husband (bad guys can be good husbands) switched gears and all his minions helped. I’d actually love to see a mini series dedicated to that (Comics?), can you imagine Goldar being sent to the supermarket to get some ice cream and pickles? Or Zedd getting some diapers?
The voice actor, Robert Axelrod has died, but the costume actor, Edwin Neill is still around. BTW which one of those actors is the one we see after Zedd is purified from Zordon's energy wave?

BTW in addtion to Astronema's Quantron's, I would also have liked to see Divatox's Piranha Trons, Lord Zedd's Z Putties, and Rita's original Putties all get turned to dust as well. Rito's Tenga's would have been BARBECUED!!
I remember as a kid, I was absolutely fanatical about Power Rangers, watching the shows, dressing up for Halloween, imagining scenarios in which I was a Ranger, and buying the action figures. One of these figures was of Lord Zedd himself, complete with his silver Z staff, and when you pressed a button on his back, a red light came on, which I believe is a nod to what he would do when he got very angry.
I lost my shit re-watching some of their antics. Zedd and Rita speeding off in a mobile home after giving the machines a gift with a bomb inside was so stupid. But somehow, it works.
Lord Zedd is the best villain in Power Rangers lore until he fell in love with Rita, he had nearly completely blown his image. It would be great to make a television series on based on Zordon, Rita and Lord Zedd which took place 10,000 years before Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. And it can be as good as Star Wars the Mandalorian.
Rita and Zedd were a power couple!! They beat the rangers several times and had several small victories. The protags needed 2 upgrades to defeat them until the Machine Empire came. Even then, Zedd and Rita ended up destroying the Royal Family. And yeah, they're silly, but when they tried to undo the love potion, turns out they really did love each other.
Latest Boom comic revealed the first time Zedd and Rita met. She was still working for her dad Master Vile, and had invaded his camp and they fought but he was stronger. But instead of killing her, he said Rita had ‘potential’ and gave her an offer to serve him instead of her dad, and they made her grin REAL sexily at that 😂 Tho thousands of years later, when Zedd got fed up with her failure and she eventually went back to her dad, the way Master Vile scolded her sounded like a dad angry at his daughter for running away with her boyfriend only to come crawling back home! . . And then Rita actually near kills Zedd, so it’s like maybe they had a thing for each other, but Rita is way pissed at Zedd now. And now Zedd has gotten his own power up to deal with her. But honestly, I think there’s still a chance Boom might angle to adapt The Wedding in some way lol
Edwin Neal, whom you may remember as the Hitchhiker in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, played the physical role for Lord Zedd. When Zordon sacrifices himself and turns the Villains good, you actually see his human form as he asks Rita to dance.

As someone who watch the first generations of PR until the end of Turbo (got too ridiculous after that), Lord Zedd will forever be my favorite villain 🙂
I think in the new comic run that Zed remembers that he was from Eltar and sought the power of the Zeo Crystal. It not only stripped his flesh but erased part of his memory. The chaos crystal brought his memories back
POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING! ... I WARNED YOU! ... He also initially wanted the Zeo Crystal to help humanity against a race that destroyed planets/entire civilizations daily, if I remember right. BUT, certain folks didn't like that idea because that would thwart whatever plans they had, and so they set a trap up to try to destroy Zophram of Eltar. They succeeded in their goal, but not in the way they intended: Zophram as he was no longer exists, having been replaced by someone who is almost guaranteed to destroy them (self-fulfillment can be satisfying at times).
Even as a kid Zedd was my favorite character, even before the White/Green Ranger. Anytime he is on screen, he commands your attention. He was just so evil looking
I remembered when season 2 premiered on primetime and seeing Zedd for the first time. Thought the series would go darker with him but went the other way sadly. Most evil PR villain ive remembered till this day is Trekeena. With Astronema making 2nd when she got brainwashed by Dark Specter. Luthor is the worst villain in PR imo.
If, by chance. Zordon's energy wave touched him, he was likely reduced to a pile of bones and a skull; inaniamate of course. And I'll say it again, I would have loved to have seen the energy wave reduce his Tenga Warriors to roasted turkey like cooked birds!

I wonder what the Behind-the-scenes story for Zedd was. I know that Saban didn't want to use the Dairanger suits and Boss villains because the Mighty Morphin toys were still selling like hotcakes. Also, they were running out of footage of Bandora, so they couldn't use Rita like they were before. So I get why they needed a new Rita and Putties. But the idea of creating a completely brand new main villain when they still could have used Rita (played by a different actress) is interesting. Actually I find Saban's insane idea to only adapt zord fights and monster suits but film everything else new, crazy when they could have just done everything new and forget the headache of matching sentai footage from a show they barely were using. Obviously when Zeo came along they were done with it and bowed down to the Ohranger footage, but it's crazy to think how far they went using the Zyuranger suits.

Actually why that route was taken was that after the episodes where zedd actually felt like a real threat to the rangers parents complained he was to scary for children so they toned him way down that’s why he got more comical and his zord was laughable at best with the power drain being used for humor purposes cause the zord could have been a real threat if done right
What bugs me is I LOVE the Lord Zedd character but he didn’t need a redemption turn back to human but instead a proper defeat. Something on the lines of his fight with the white ranger but bigger and involving some kind of zord battle
Do one on Master Vile. Tell the story what happen to him after the events when the Alien Rangers defeat him and how Zedd and Rita left Vile to resume to command to destroy the Machine empire.
I love videos like this. I grew up watching Power Rangers season 1 and 2, but got out of it during that Ivan Ooze movie. I'm a sucker for lore and now my daughter watches Power Rangers and I feel like I'm not with the times. How insane is that?
The comics are not canon because we know from the show that ritas palace was actually already there and the Zeo crystal was under it so the crystal was not on eltar at this time. It was actually the energy field protecting the Zeo crystal that mess Zedd up in the show when he tried to get it from under the palace, not the Zeo crystal itself. Lord Zedd was originally meant to be a evil Power Ranger thats why he has a visor strongly similar to the red rangers. Zedd was most likely planned to be the first red ranger before they decided that was too much story for a kids show in the 90s.
Such a waste of an awesome villain in the end. Lord Zed had the ability to turn anything into a monster after all. I sometimes wondered how things would go is after Lightspeed Rescue the demon queen (I forget her name) created a new version of the Star Power and somehow sent it out of the dimension she was trapped in combined with a Rise with more power than before "spell" to seek one who would get revenge for her. And it attaches to Lord Zed, transforming him back and making him more powerful than ever.
You guys at the Sixth Ranger do a great job with this video on Lord Zedd and I really enjoyed it. Lord Zedd was not only one of the most powerful villians that the Power Rangers had to fight against, but he was also a true original Villians for the show. To me Lord Zedd will always be a interesting part of the Power Rangers franchise and I can't wait to see another one of these villian videos. May I suggest you create one on Astronema next. Seeing her in the new Power Rangers comics has rekindle me love for Power Rangers in Space.
Lord Zedd did not take Golders wings away thousands of years ago as he had them when Rita escaped from dumpster and lost them after first battle with rangers. The year before Zedd came to earth

So I can imagine she didn’t want to waste her energy by giving Goldar temporary wings when she use the energy for better purposes). I don't know guys. I don't remember how old I was when i watched first power rangers but I remember all these villains as a stupid comedy characters. They were never scary for me. But still Zedd had a great design. Cheap plastic of course but that wasn't an issue when I was in primary school😁
The first serious final battle was in Lost Galaxy where everything is on the line, no purification just the heroes Vs the main villian and they risk everything to stop her because the fate of the colonists is at stake and the villan has pretty much lost it in terms of sanity, she pretty much throws everything at the rangers, destorying two Megazords crippling the colony ship and then using the remains of the ship to threaten the settlers, the rangers respond in kind by throwing nearly everything they have at her with the Red Ranger truly doing something extremely heroic by using the Mega battle at point blank range and risking his own life to stop that monster!

Didn't mention when Divatox called Rita asking for advice on how the beat the rangers. They were in bed sleeping and Zedd was snoring. Very funny scene.
I wish they had never toned him down, and if boom studios were to put him in the comics, I would like him to be how was when he first showed up, and have Rita kept in the space dumpster.
I always though Lord Zedd was turned inside out. I think Rita's and Zedd's absence in Turbo was due to Drax being born, so they decided to retire in the retaken moon palace, then sometime before Zordon's tube was shattered Drax was sent away, most likely to an evil dimension to dodge the wave and bide his time until he appeared in Operation Overdrive and went off again, yet to make a return as a full series villain. Which he could if Hasbro uses an updated Dairangers, he could be the series one villain, who awakened the Dai powers, seeking to use them, but fails, where Billy also returns to build modern Morphers for the ancient crystals to lessen the Chi drainage, this comes with a new set of Zords. Which allows the original villains to emerge for season 2, who require the original way to Morph nearer the end. This comes with Chi Spirit Zords, animals that have previously bonded to the Ranger through an act and returned to help them now.

So we know that Rita Repulsa became the Mystic Mother after she was purified so I wonder if he became something similar to Rita Repulsa: like the Mystic Father because although they didn't say what happened to him after his purification in Mystic Force it would be great to find out but my personal fan theory is that he too became the male version of the Mystic Mother called the Mystic Father and they had another son (me) Phraxes younger brother but just like his parents (now being good) good and a Wizard instead of an evil Sorcerer

Just, in case anyone that doesn't know, Zedd is back in Power Rangers dino fury season 1 episode 14 and season 2 episode 12,13,14 and 15, being imprisoned by a Morphin Master in crystal. And mentioned that he escaped in episode 22. Maybe we might see in cosmic fury as the Main villan

Lord Zedd had the best design of any Power Rangers main villain to me. He straight up looked like an evil flesh ranger to me. Badass.

I don't know for Rita returning after what happened to her in Mystic Force and the fact that her actrice is decease, but Zedd returning as a mentor for the Rangers would be quite interesting considering how ironic it is.

It was a shame they had to tone down how intimidating he was because of some crybaby parents complaining he was too scary. I hadn’t been on the edge of my seat watching the show since the first appearance of the green ranger.

I have to admit that when Zedd first arrived, I found his looks quite disturbing, I had never seen a supervillian SO hideously ugly before that.But I got use to him after a while. I had not the slightest clue that Rita would return in the middle of season 2, and marry Zedd!! Originally, they HATED each other!

They’re killing it with the comics. They’re currently setting up the main villains for In Space, but the story is still set in the MMPR season, so there’s plenty of a chance we’ll see more Zedd. Every time he’s on panel, he shows his best features

Great video. There was actually a fan-made episode called Scorpion Rain. It's set during Zeo and explains how Serpentara wound up being on the Moon. Right next to Mesagog and Ransik, Zedd was one of the few villains who looked genuinely intimidating and had a grotesque appearance to them.
Always liked lord zedd as a kid. Started off as this scary villain and as time went on, the humour came out and at the end I was happy he was purified along with Rita

I always assumed that during Turbo, Zedd and company took time off because Rita became pregnant and it was a difficult pregnancy. I mean she got headaches all the time when she wasn’t pregnant, who knows how hard on her it was. So Zedd being the good husband (bad guys can be good husbands) switched gears and all his minions helped. I’d actually love to see a mini series dedicated to that (Comics?), can you imagine Goldar being sent to the supermarket to get some ice cream and pickles? Or Zedd getting some diapers?

BTW in addtion to Astronema's Quantron's, I would also have liked to see Divatox's Piranha Trons, Lord Zedd's Z Putties, and Rita's original Putties all get turned to dust as well. Rito's Tenga's would have been BARBECUED!!

I remember as a kid, I was absolutely fanatical about Power Rangers, watching the shows, dressing up for Halloween, imagining scenarios in which I was a Ranger, and buying the action figures. One of these figures was of Lord Zedd himself, complete with his silver Z staff, and when you pressed a button on his back, a red light came on, which I believe is a nod to what he would do when he got very angry.
I lost my shit re-watching some of their antics. Zedd and Rita speeding off in a mobile home after giving the machines a gift with a bomb inside was so stupid. But somehow, it works.
Lord Zedd is the best villain in Power Rangers lore until he fell in love with Rita, he had nearly completely blown his image. It would be great to make a television series on based on Zordon, Rita and Lord Zedd which took place 10,000 years before Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. And it can be as good as Star Wars the Mandalorian.

They beat the rangers several times and had several small victories. The protags needed 2 upgrades to defeat them until the Machine Empire came. Even then, Zedd and Rita ended up destroying the Royal Family.
And yeah, they're silly, but when they tried to undo the love potion, turns out they really did love each other.

Latest Boom comic revealed the first time Zedd and Rita met. She was still working for her dad Master Vile, and had invaded his camp and they fought but he was stronger. But instead of killing her, he said Rita had ‘potential’ and gave her an offer to serve him instead of her dad, and they made her grin REAL sexily at that 😂 Tho thousands of years later, when Zedd got fed up with her failure and she eventually went back to her dad, the way Master Vile scolded her sounded like a dad angry at his daughter for running away with her boyfriend only to come crawling back home!

Edwin Neal, whom you may remember as the Hitchhiker in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre, played the physical role for Lord Zedd. When Zordon sacrifices himself and turns the Villains good, you actually see his human form as he asks Rita to dance.

I think in the new comic run that Zed remembers that he was from Eltar and sought the power of the Zeo Crystal. It not only stripped his flesh but erased part of his memory. The chaos crystal brought his memories back

He also initially wanted the Zeo Crystal to help humanity against a race that destroyed planets/entire civilizations daily, if I remember right. BUT, certain folks didn't like that idea because that would thwart whatever plans they had, and so they set a trap up to try to destroy Zophram of Eltar. They succeeded in their goal, but not in the way they intended: Zophram as he was no longer exists, having been replaced by someone who is almost guaranteed to destroy them (self-fulfillment can be satisfying at times).
Even as a kid Zedd was my favorite character, even before the White/Green Ranger. Anytime he is on screen, he commands your attention. He was just so evil looking

I remembered when season 2 premiered on primetime and seeing Zedd for the first time. Thought the series would go darker with him but went the other way sadly. Most evil PR villain ive remembered till this day is Trekeena. With Astronema making 2nd when she got brainwashed by Dark Specter. Luthor is the worst villain in PR imo.

I wonder what the Behind-the-scenes story for Zedd was. I know that Saban didn't want to use the Dairanger suits and Boss villains because the Mighty Morphin toys were still selling like hotcakes. Also, they were running out of footage of Bandora, so they couldn't use Rita like they were before. So I get why they needed a new Rita and Putties. But the idea of creating a completely brand new main villain when they still could have used Rita (played by a different actress) is interesting. Actually I find Saban's insane idea to only adapt zord fights and monster suits but film everything else new, crazy when they could have just done everything new and forget the headache of matching sentai footage from a show they barely were using. Obviously when Zeo came along they were done with it and bowed down to the Ohranger footage, but it's crazy to think how far they went using the Zyuranger suits.
Was part of his deal with Sentai to bring it here it would still be a copyright infringement amongst other law breaking

Actually why that route was taken was that after the episodes where zedd actually felt like a real threat to the rangers parents complained he was to scary for children so they toned him way down that’s why he got more comical and his zord was laughable at best with the power drain being used for humor purposes cause the zord could have been a real threat if done right

Turning him good is a bigger defeat than being beat in combat.
Do one on Master Vile. Tell the story what happen to him after the events when the Alien Rangers defeat him and how Zedd and Rita left Vile to resume to command to destroy the Machine empire.

The comics are not canon because we know from the show that ritas palace was actually already there and the Zeo crystal was under it so the crystal was not on eltar at this time. It was actually the energy field protecting the Zeo crystal that mess Zedd up in the show when he tried to get it from under the palace, not the Zeo crystal itself.
Lord Zedd was originally meant to be a evil Power Ranger thats why he has a visor strongly similar to the red rangers. Zedd was most likely planned to be the first red ranger before they decided that was too much story for a kids show in the 90s.
Such a waste of an awesome villain in the end. Lord Zed had the ability to turn anything into a monster after all. I sometimes wondered how things would go is after Lightspeed Rescue the demon queen (I forget her name) created a new version of the Star Power and somehow sent it out of the dimension she was trapped in combined with a Rise with more power than before "spell" to seek one who would get revenge for her. And it attaches to Lord Zed, transforming him back and making him more powerful than ever.
In a weird way as a kid he reminded me of Shao Kahn. Anyone else think the same way as a 90s kid?
You guys at the Sixth Ranger do a great job with this video on Lord Zedd and I really enjoyed it. Lord Zedd was not only one of the most powerful villians that the Power Rangers had to fight against, but he was also a true original Villians for the show.
To me Lord Zedd will always be a interesting part of the Power Rangers franchise and I can't wait to see another one of these villian videos. May I suggest you create one on Astronema next. Seeing her in the new Power Rangers comics has rekindle me love for Power Rangers in Space.
Lord Zedd did not take Golders wings away thousands of years ago as he had them when Rita escaped from dumpster and lost them after first battle with rangers. The year before Zedd came to earth
It is possible that the wings Goldar had were temporary ones created by Rita’s magic.

So I can imagine she didn’t want to waste her energy by giving Goldar temporary wings when she use the energy for better purposes). I mean Goldar’s wings didn’t really help him win any fights during season 2 anyway.

Both Jason and Tommy had a one-on-one fightwith Zedd at least once. There's that.
The first serious final battle was in Lost Galaxy where everything is on the line, no purification just the heroes Vs the main villian and they risk everything to stop her because the fate of the colonists is at stake and the villan has pretty much lost it in terms of sanity, she pretty much throws everything at the rangers, destorying two Megazords crippling the colony ship and then using the remains of the ship to threaten the settlers, the rangers respond in kind by throwing nearly everything they have at her with the Red Ranger truly doing something extremely heroic by using the Mega battle at point blank range and risking his own life to stop that monster!
I remembered when Zordon's tube was destroyed. I actually smiled when Zedd and Rita were spared for some reason. They looked cute together lol.

Lord Zedd is the ultimate villain, at least in tv universe. Drakkon might be right up there, but Zedd will always be the best villain.
I always though Lord Zedd was turned inside out.
I think Rita's and Zedd's absence in Turbo was due to Drax being born, so they decided to retire in the retaken moon palace, then sometime before Zordon's tube was shattered Drax was sent away, most likely to an evil dimension to dodge the wave and bide his time until he appeared in Operation Overdrive and went off again, yet to make a return as a full series villain.
Which he could if Hasbro uses an updated Dairangers, he could be the series one villain, who awakened the Dai powers, seeking to use them, but fails, where Billy also returns to build modern Morphers for the ancient crystals to lessen the Chi drainage, this comes with a new set of Zords.
Which allows the original villains to emerge for season 2, who require the original way to Morph nearer the end. This comes with Chi Spirit Zords, animals that have previously bonded to the Ranger through an act and returned to help them now.

So we know that Rita Repulsa became the Mystic Mother after she was purified so I wonder if he became something similar to Rita Repulsa: like the Mystic Father because although they didn't say what happened to him after his purification in Mystic Force it would be great to find out but my personal fan theory is that he too became the male version of the Mystic Mother called the Mystic Father and they had another son (me) Phraxes younger brother but just like his parents (now being good) good and a Wizard instead of an evil Sorcerer

Just, in case anyone that doesn't know, Zedd is back in Power Rangers dino fury season 1 episode 14 and season 2 episode 12,13,14 and 15, being imprisoned by a Morphin Master in crystal. And mentioned that he escaped in episode 22. Maybe we might see in cosmic fury as the Main villan
I felt like there was a lot of potential with Master Vile. I always thought as a kid that he was going to be the next near-unstoppable threat that was hindered because this was a kids tv show 😂
