The is second to last song they play as well so it's even more mad they still have this amount of energy left, I've seen them live and they were fkn crazy!
I'm a huge fan. I'm 45. This reminds me of the pop I grew up listening to. Good stuff. I introduced my 10 year old daughter to their music and now I get to take her with me to see them in concert in a couple of weeks. It'll be her first concert. I'm sooo excited!!
Wow, my mom is the opposite, she refuses to accept that she likes anything new, so when I played Chocolate in the car, she asked what the band was and then kept a straight face for the rest of the ride (how I can tell she liked it). But good for you, hope you had a great time! :)
"We are very connected to our fans but in an odd way really I mean most people suppose are connected with their fans, internet wise they actually connect to them and converse with them and have a dialogue. We don’t necessarily do that. But I think that, what I found, or what I have been told in trying to figure out what it is all about is that people really relate to this band because it is kinda extension of a personality or for personalities and I think people look for that and people like seeing themselves and relating to people and I think that people just relate to us and they relate to the things we talk about and its all delivered in what I suppose is considered to be infections pop music and all these kids at the moment are living out their lives. Soundtracked to the 1975. And I think its because, they just, they, they get it. They get us. And to have so many people who adore our music is, well I think it is, It’s the reason you do it isn't it?"
I love Matty. The guy just always seems like he's thinking about what he says, and doesn't say it unless it has meaning. Something you don't see too much anymore.
awesome, I am confident in that this band will remain true to their music and their style. They seem to enjoy playing their stuff even if it is the 1 millionth time playing Chocolate. KEEP IT UP!!!
"...remain true to their music and their style" Imagine being an artist and being forced to stick to a certain genre or style of music. I think you should you make music that sounds good to you and not worry about an old fan leaving nasty comments because he doesn't like the change.
notforprofittho so true. the best thing about following a band you love is listening them mature with their writing and playing. the moment they start forcing/bullshitting their music to 'adapt' to what's hot...that's the beginning of the end.
when mattys voice is high quality, it is just perfection and what he is saying is so true, they relate and interact with us(their fans) in so many ways and thats what makes this band so special
One of the first bands I really had an emotional connection with. I listened to them heavily when I was in a dark place; listening to their songs and looking back on photos and videos I took when I saw them in London, reminds me how strong this band makes me. I will always thank matty and the boys for being there for me even though they'll never know of my existance😂
This is perfect, not only I love The 1975... the message at the beginning, I love it 'cause I think that these days when you hear "It's all thanks to our fans" you are like "Yeah whatever", but this... really squeezed my heart. I relate to you.
This band is pretty amazing live. Just saw them last Friday in San Fran and they were absolutely great, Matt Healy certainly knows how to put on a show with a bottle of champagne and cigarette in hand xD
That intro!! Yes! We are here because we are connected and we relate to this music. I hope you are all well! I hope the sun is up in your sky, and if it’s a little cloudy right now don’t worry, the sun always shines again. I love you my musical friends!!! ❤❤❤
god the start of this was just to beautiful it had me in tears, the 1975 is just so perfect it is beyond words and its a perfect soundtrack to everyone's life as a teenager tbh and everything Matty said was just absolutely true which is what I love about them is that they get us as not only fans but as a person.
I came back to this. First watched back in 2014. My heart is wrenching. Time is my greatest enemy and the growth of this band has really made me proud. Very emotional.
The 1975 is one of the greatest bands to see live. They're so lively and like he was saying, they jut connect with fans so much when they're up on stage.
In the beginning when he speaks, it's just raw and honest and I adore that. Their music makes people feel alive and happy, as it does to me and I don't ever want them to stop making music 💖
I love this band so much. This band brings me back. When I play their music it's like a time machine. The 1975 brings me back to a simple time. This is why they will make it big. There different. Instead of playing commercialized pop music heard on the radio all the time, or putting on the metaphorical masks that mainstream singers where today, they aren't afraid to be who they are. They don't conform to the way they want to be looked at as a band. They aren't afraid to be who they are, play what they want, and do what they want unlike other artists who play what is considered the new fad. I think the 1975 is the new fad. There taking us back to a time when artists and the music they put out weren't so commercialized for the sake of money. The 1975 want there music to be different. They don't want it to be "like other music" in the way that it is so commercialized and overused now. They want music to be like it used to, back when artist didn't change their ways because the critics thought they were too bland or their music wasn't catchy enough. There not afraid to stay true to there roots. To me that's what it's really all about.
I am currently sitting with my computer in the darkness of my room watching a bunch of concert videos of you guys since your concert right now (which is 10 minutes away from me) just sold out so I wasn't able to go. So as I sit here typing this, I imagine myself in that crowd. Oh what could have been... I love you guys
I only just recently got into The 1975 when I heard that they're coming to my city next year, songs are pretty good, the crowd and energy looks amazing! I've been to a few concerts recently, and let's just say all you see is a sea of phones, it gets annoying, but this looks really cool! I might go next year to see them!
I went to their show in Phoenix which was the 22nd of November and I still have PCD they put on such an amazing show it was absolutely insane and just before they performed this matty said "alright Arizona I've only got you for tonight so let's go fucking bananas" legend
I've seen them live and I SERIOUSLY recommend that if the opportunity ever arises that you can go and see them, drop what you're doing, and go.... (also met Matty Healy, oh my good God, what a cool ass dude)
such a good band, glad to know there are bands that have an actual connection and not just put together, absolute perfect music and just👌👌👌👌 can't wait to see them in the royal Albert hall
+Adam Clayton Aye !! Ever since they announced that they were coming to Auckland, I've been looking for tickets ever since and I've never been able to get any !! We can cry together ;(
+Jessica McNae so gutted aye, when I tried to book a few weeks back they were sold out! All the 13 year old fan girls sitting on their computers were too fast for me :/
"And all these kids at the moment are living out their lives soundtracked to the 1975" YAS
Jade Adelaja this comment is literally 2 years old but ily
Sometimes before I go to sleep I play the beginning of the video when Matty talks and it's just so relaxing
You're not alone, I do the same thing
Same here.
this is 100% me
SAME
Acard89 what do you mean by which song?
"..They get it.. they get us" we do Matty♡ thank you for being OUR band
but but Matty isn't a band, he's a band member. idk lets appreciate the whole band MEMBERS too?
MemaFreak I agree! I only said it like that cos he was the one to say it lol, each one of them has there own unique talents & style
I love this speech, I rewind/ watch it all the time ;:)
Their energy is fucking mental. I would love to go to one of their shows.
The is second to last song they play as well so it's even more mad they still have this amount of energy left, I've seen them live and they were fkn crazy!
FluttershyBby they put on one of the top 3 shows i've seen
this song was their best in Sydney , Matty got everyone in the crowd to hold hands. energy was crazy !
+Jenny Healy I remember that!! God so keen for next year's concert at hordern!!! /💃
+Catherine Tatuila oh I'm going as well , I can't wait man
I'm a huge fan. I'm 45. This reminds me of the pop I grew up listening to. Good stuff. I introduced my 10 year old daughter to their music and now I get to take her with me to see them in concert in a couple of weeks. It'll be her first concert. I'm sooo excited!!
That's so dope! Hope to be that kind of parent one day when I can share the same music with my kid. Have fun, hope to see them live one day!
Wow, my mom is the opposite, she refuses to accept that she likes anything new, so when I played Chocolate in the car, she asked what the band was and then kept a straight face for the rest of the ride (how I can tell she liked it). But good for you, hope you had a great time! :)
Maybe a 10-11 year old shouldn't be listening to a bad with most of their songs being about suicide, drugs, depression, and sed
+XCrimson DahliaX band*
Greatest dad ever! Cheer for your daughter : )
this is the kind of crowd i want to be a part of, not one full of phones up
It doesn't fucking matter.
@@danieldesouza3874 It matters
the fucking intro stole my heart
crazy, its been 10 yrs and i felt like they just made it this year.
I discovered this band just recently and it's already one of my favourite bands! like where have you been hidden all this time?!!!?
"We are very connected to our fans but in an odd way really I mean most people suppose are connected with their fans, internet wise they actually connect to them and converse with them and have a dialogue. What Matty says at the beginning❤️
Anna McCoy "an extension of a personality, of Four personalities"
No one could have said it any better. 🤍🤍🤍
Gracias es lo que necesitaba ya que hablo español, lo traduciré :)
i absolutely love this "famdom" or whatever you want to call it. everyone here is so chill and i love it.
i think thats one of the reasons why i love their music. the people that are attracted to this music really, we just get it.
I love Matty. The guy just always seems like he's thinking about what he says, and doesn't say it unless it has meaning. Something you don't see too much anymore.
Everybody else just rockin out enjoying themselves. WITHOUT THEIR BLOODY PHONES. KUDOS!
What's the problem with people who do use their phones at a concert?
Andrew Johnson because they aren't fully enjoying themselves...
just my opinion. but yea true that
awesome, I am confident in that this band will remain true to their music and their style.
Nothing worse than a band that doesn't evolve.
notforprofittho so true. the best thing about following a band you love is listening them mature with their writing and playing. the moment they start forcing/bullshitting their music to 'adapt' to what's hot...that's the beginning of the end.
Coldplay 2003, coldplay 2014. Need i say more?
umm well they kinda um released noacf so
I love how the crowd doesnt have their phones out recording and just have fun during the performance xx:)
It is my pet peeve when people have their phones out at concerts. Just live in the moment and enjoy it while you can!
There was like a dozen people seen in the video doing that. What are you talking about?
cant believe this is a decade old
That speech at the beginning > Everything.
I could listen to them, forever.
this whole video gave me chills
the beginning speech is everything
"and all these kids are living out their lives soundtracked to the 1975" ten years later
couldn't be more true still...

I saw them live a few days ago in New Zealand, AMAZING. no words.
when mattys voice is high quality, it is just perfection and what he is saying is so true, they relate and interact with us(their fans) in so many ways and thats what makes this band so special

I can't believe this was 5 years ago. I not only adore their music, but they've gotten me through some very hard times in the past five years.
I love the 1975. I'm 59 but still a "kid" TRANSLATED - nit and happily so.
They are the reason I exist

You see nothing but genuine happiness in the crowd. LOVE
I have 55 years, i'am an inconditional fan of Grunge and Pearl Jam is my band!
However this is the best pop song I heard in all my life!
I'm listening to his calm voice over and over again, can't get enough
The song at the beginning of this video is giving me a chill vibe "12" is one good instrumental song.

Matty's speech was brilliant and sincere. This band. This band. Wow.
