Petition for NPR to have The 1975 do a new tiny desk concert with the whole band in 2020 ! Edit: its been two years, and a pandemic came in the way - but what about now?
he seems like such a sensitive person, not weak in any way but sensitive. like every song he plays takes him back to a place and time and the emotion shows in his face and voice, it's very beautiful but also in a sad way..
i feel like matty is the type of person who falls in love with random people he sees in the streets like he admires everything about them its a lovely quality to have
Micaela benitez brendon Uriel of P!ATD does an acoustic version of girls/girls/boys and he looks really sad in it. Maybe it's just what acoustic versions do to them haha
i love how sex can be performed in extremes no middle ground. the soft angelic acoustic and the hellish rip your heart out aggressive rock. iim in love
Leekee-Duh-Boo But you won't prove me wrong....that's my point. All you idiots thinking you will become famous....all you want is fame. Self absorbed dumbfucks get nowhere :)
OMG I JUST CAME FROM A THE 1975 CONCERT AND I HEARD HIM LIVE SAYING "CHOCOLATE" OMG HELPPP THAT HAPPENED NOT EVEN 30 MINUTES AGO OMG WHY AM I TELLING U THIS IDK IM JUST SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW
"Nothing happened, I just fell in love with her a bit." But isn't that of the most important things that could happen? Falling in love, with anyway it ends? Oh, Matt. Keep doing this. The world needs it, and you. :)
aye although the full band aren't present he's still doing the 1975's tunes. also from bringing in views stand point captioning the vid 'the 1975' is more click bait hence more folk see this awesome set.
Their music nowadays sounds like it was made on a keyboard and not by a BAND. I'm not surprised they don't all travel and play together. I feel like the rest of the guys are slowly being pushed out. Wouldn't be the first time.
I can only imagine what it feels like with your own song. You close your eyes and you see the molment/person that inspired it. It must be really intense.
the little break in his voice when he says "about sex" just gets me every time, it's not like a rebellion it's just a casualty. sex never felt less taboo.
For all the people that think Matty has a bad voice look up "Matty Healy Hallelujah" In the video he's about 17 and isn't using the same style of singing he is using for The 1975. I would recommend it!!
i like his voice because it's so full of emotion, even if some song lyrics don't convey any emotion in them. in sex, you can hear the heartbreak. i think that's what makes people different, the vulnerability and emotion sets people apart.
been almost 8 years since i first hear this song here, and i always come back once in awhile just to reminiscing those good old vibes from these songs,, hearing it is like also seeing the lads transform from this cute little boys to (now) this big brilliant artist,, no matter how famous they are now, my heart goes way back to the day when they first made that black and white album,,,
You can tell he was singing all year every day when he did this. His voice is going out. but GAWD LORDY HE SOUNDS AMAZING NO MATTER WHAT. I LOVE HOW PASSIONATE HE IS WHEN HE SINGS.
I think this is by far my favorite performance from Matty. How he sings, so much emotion. The way his voice trembles. I don't know. He seems like a fragile lad but there's so much more. If that made sense.
I love The 1975 because I can listen to the album versions of song and move along and appreciate it, but at the same time I can listen to an acoustic version and appreciate the emotion just the same. I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like the 1975. They're truly unique and exquisite.
Most people's accent becomes less pronounced when they sing, some lose it altogether when they sing so you can't even tell they have an accent at all, and this has always been fascinating to me. NOW I'm fascinated by how pronounced his accent IS while he sings, lol!
this is one of the most interesting young new musicians i have heard/seen in a long time-- chatted w him after his concert in Saratoga Springs last yr--- he is totally adorable-- sweet smart gracious-- and talented.
Maybe so--- but as an artist wo went to art school myself-- I learned to truly "see" and understand shape color and texture when illustrating -- from a very difficult illustration teacher, wo him I would have never known that skill paired with my god given talent. I think his formal training along with raw talent has shaped who he is as a musician. And its all good.
Dom Espo thank you for commenting--- Maybe so--- but as an artist wo went to art school myself-- I learned to truly "see" and understand shape color and texture when illustrating -- from a very difficult illustration teacher, wo him I would have never known that skill paired with my god given talent. I think his formal training along with raw talent has shaped who he is as a musician. And its all good. there are plenty of muscians and artists who manage to figure out things on their own--- I was one who benefited greatly from formal education. Sometimes the right teacher can make an artist blossom.
is it just me or have all of these 'tiny desk concerts' been poppin up in the recommended since quarantine? gotta say, i'm not disappointed. this is a gem.
This is making me so emotional. It's always going to be one of my favorite performances of his. I'd love it if he starts doing intimate acoustics like this again, but with the new songs, if that's possible :(
love how grateful he is to be performing here. you can see how he really takes up a whole room with his musical presence and is shy about it. now he headlines the biggest festivals in the world.
Just saw The 1975 on their latest tour and felt the need to revisit this. It's been such an evolution as a fan enjoying their music and their very distinct point of view. I really hope they (Matty) return for another NPR Tiny desk soon. Just love hearing their songs broken down and distilled into this pure and simple story-telling.

It's a gift & a curse. It's beautiful but can be so painful too. People like that (which I relate to) feel so deeply.

One of the most heartfelt Tiny Desk "concerts".
Been almost a decade and I still come back to this at least once a week.
I want what this person is smoking.
i love how sex can be performed in extremes no middle ground. the soft angelic acoustic and the hellish rip your heart out aggressive rock. iim in love
The version when they were called drive like I do is kinda a middle ground
I wish this could be an hour longer. I could watch him forever.

three braindead broads on an NPR video ?? no way!
Yeah, ik same😍
an hour longer wouldn't be forever XD
agreed 100%
just perfect, he seems to be so shy but confident i don't know..
THE WAY HE SAYS THANK YOU IS LIKE AN OLD BRITISH WOMAN WHO DROPPED HER PURSE BUT U PICKED IT UP FOR HER AND GAVE IT TO HER... "thank you"
Oh my god this is beautifuul
outerspaceloser i love u

I found it so funny and sweet. haha

I think you have to appreciate how vulnerable Matty makes himself.. few artists do that, but when you catch one, it sure is fascinating.

Sex is considered explicit language? I mean I see how the definition of sex is explicit, but the words its self idk.

sara gonzalez This is npr, obviously they're going to be a bit more sensitive about words like "sex."
Most people's accent becomes less pronounced when they sing, some lose it altogether when they sing so you can't even tell they have an accent at all, and this has always been fascinating to me. NOW I'm fascinated by how pronounced his accent IS while he sings, lol!

I don't think I've ever wanted an Epiphone over a Gibson until today. What a beautiful guitar.
Epiphone is basically a cheaper Gibson. I believe they make Epiphones. Both are veryyy gooood.
SAME. i went in and played that guitar today and i really like it. for $550 its exceptional.
Why is it raining in my house? Oh wait, it's just my tears.
If you don't like his voice then leave this video. Stop hating in the comment section. This like all his other live performances is fucking amazing.
nah ill do w.e i want in a public comment section but thanks broad
