I just met the dude last week. I'm almost 40. What a life I've wasted. I feel like this is a torch I need to try to carry forward. Mac ain't dead. I won't let it happen .
I swiped right on my man on tinder because his bio was "the world is so small till it ain't". We have been together 3 years to the day and play this song on our anniversary. Mac, we will also play this song at our wedding. Thank you for bringing us together and for everything you gave the world. RIP sweet boy.
Here on the 4th anniversary of your passing. The world misses you and I can't help but wonder what you would have accomplished and being able to witness your music and career evolve/grow if you were still here. Rest well Mac and thank you for being you.
My 2yo son has had this on repeat for the last year. It’s one of the few things we can throw on to calm a tantrum. Its actually crazy how much Mac has been part of my life even as a new father.
That’s awesome! This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips. I come back every couple months when I need it! Sick to hear it’s still impacting the youngins. “Ooo I’ve been a fool, but it’s cool, that’s what human beings do, keep your eyes to the sky never glued to your shoes” Wish I knew what that bar meant as I was growing up. Your sons got good taste.
He died on September 7th, 2018. It's saying online they released this tiny desk concert on August 3rd 2018. That should be 35 days in between the release of this and his death if the info I found is correct.
I feel like Mac and I were synced up, it hurt so much when he died after releasing Swimming I felt like we were both on the come up. He sounded so happy on that album, RIP to the bro I never met
I’ve never felt such an immense feeling of loss regarding someone that I’ve never met or seen in the flesh …I’m just as heartbroken about his passing today as I way 6 years ago. Rest easy Mac🤍🤍🤍
Son: Dad, why is my sister's name Rose? Dad: Because your mother loves roses. Son: Thanks, Dad. Dad: No problem, Mac Miller: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert.
I come back to this Tiny Desk Concert often and it hits just right. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 👏 There’s a certain type of “rawness” to his art and it will never grow old. He’s so humble. I love this type of live performance in an intimate setting for him because his talent and vulnerability really shines through. He also blends so well with the other amazing artists in this performance. They’re all just vibing off the same moment and are totally in sync with each other. It’s a solid piece of work. It’s so easy to feel their passion. 😚🤌 Mac Miller was such a unique person and his essence is a rarity.
On Zane Lowe's show Thundercat described getting the call from Mac to do the tiny Desk and flying from Europe in the middle of his tour just for this. I'd love to hear all they recording they have together that are stashed away
Mac’s smile too man, it’s so sweet seeing these guys playing together when they’re clearly both such big fans of each other, as Mac says “it’s a beautiful thing”
If 100 million posthumous streams isn't an indication of Mac's legacy, I don't know what is. Big love to Mac for creating this masterpiece... and the fans for their commitment to keeping it alive.
This tiny desk concert is the best grounding tool that I've found. His honesty, integrity and humility continued to grow and he would've continued to dazzle everyone including himself if he wasn't taken before his time. Rip Mac. I live with cptsd and probably adhd/asd, about to be assessed for the last two. Having RUclips recommended this clip to me when I really needed it, was a little piece of divinity in a seemingly more-growing doomed civilisation.
Thank you, mac, for your incredible talent and passion for music. You are truly an unbelievable person, performer, and legend in not only the hip hop industry, but also the music community in general. I hope your music travels with you among the stars
We are all here reMeMbering this beautiful soul, together... His loving fan base is a reflection of his amazing energy.... "Maybe I can exist forever right here" ... we love you and miss you beyond words Mac... 👍☯️💖🌌🌊🏊♂️♾

Mac Miller (Vocals), Thundercat (Bass), Justus West (Guitar), Klynik (Keys), Joe Cleveland (Bass), Kendall Lewis (Drums), Robin Fay-Massie (Violin), YaShauna Swan (2nd Violin), Lelia Walker (Viola), Melanie Hsu (Cello)
Probably the 100th time I've listened, but as soon as the violin starts on 2009 I'm struck with goosebumps and tears. Every single time. And to see everybody still coming back feeling the same way is truly incredible. RIP dude. Thanks for helping heal us all.

@@alexcheskie9446 They had some amazing connection. Thundercat actually interrupted his European tour to fly to NY to see Mac and play this one song. He headed out right after the concert. I was a Thundercat fan first, and I didn't realize how close they were. I mean, Thundercat was the last person Mac ever spoke to. The night he died they had just talked. Heartbreaking. But Mac lives on in Thundercat's music and in his heart. All our hearts.
I relapsed after 3 years sober and I came here to share with anyone struggling to let you know that this is the first relapse that has brought me no joy… I have struggled with addiction for a long time. I love all of you and hope you find your place in this world. - Ryan
IDK, I thought back initially how this was the first posted concert after the inertia freestyle. I swear it was why I thought even by accident he would never kill himself, I mean he was talking about hiring otr string instruments and the dread head being on tour w him. But now how when I think about my impression of the overall album after he died, it's almost tongue to cheek how obvious he was trolling he needed help. And I can't tell you about my gut and all this makes Mr feel 😕
This performance of 2009 is what got me back into Mac. I listened to him a lot in highschool and then thought I grew out of his music and assumed he was still doing the same kind of stuff based on only hearing radio songs. Until I came across this. And I went back and started listening to the entire swimming album on repeat and then through all the others. It’s so impressive how you can see his growth and change through his music. He didn’t pick some “winning” recipe and ride it out till the end. He made music based on who he was at the time. We definitely lost someone special when we lost Mac.
@Karson Hill dude same I only started listening to mac a few days after he passed away and he’s been my favorite artist since then. I can always find myself relating to things he says and I see him as my father figure tbh since I grew up without a dad
yep, I remember being in High School and my cousin started listening to him before he hit the charts. Now that I reflect upon it, 2009 seems so far and so different. Despite the recession and being poor af, we still lived life.
I don’t understand why people worship celebrities and care so much about them. I always thought people were crazy for caring about actors/musicians. But when Mac died, I felt like the world was robbed of one of the best people it had to offer. It doesn’t feel like we lost a celebrity, it feels like we lost a brother. I’ve always been a fan, but when Swimming came out, I had the album on repeat and listened to it constantly. I was very sad the day the news came out about him, but it wasn’t until a couple years laters after Circles came out that it became aware to me that we lost one of the greatest artists to ever live. He was such an incredibly smart person who was able to layer so many meanings and feelings into his lyrics that always hit home. Most artists just write catchy verses but Mac actually made art. He wasn’t writing just for the sake of making a song, he was speaking from his heart and spoke about things that we can all relate to in a way that added so much depth to his music that even after countless listens, I am still uncovering messages. It sounds like many of us have had drug problems, and can relate to what he would talk about. I’ve had on/off again issues with certain substances, but one day out of no where, 2009 hit me harder than it ever had and became my crutch for quitting. It reminded me of the beauty of sobriety and how it felt to shed the shame that comes with addiction. I still feel like Mac was speaking right to me (proving it’s true that the world actually does revolve around me) and I’m sure all of you know what I mean when I say that he was able to make music that was so much more than a song. I’ve never been so sad and angry about the death of someone I’ve never met, or even seen with my own eyes. He was literally redefining a genre, and was still far from its peak. Sadly, we’ll never get to see that peak. I mean… can you imagine the quarantine music we would’ve gotten? I’m just happy we got Swimming and Circles, because with the risk of sounding overly dramatic, I think that along with being some of the best albums ever produced, they also have touched people’s heart more than any other albums I can think of. Mac was a regular guy, just like any of us, who was battling demons while trying to find God and a higher meaning to life. I really hope he found peace, and God in death. I know he’s helped us. R.I.P. Mac ❤
yea engineer is great, but just to keep it real... thats how mac sounds live all the time. ive seen him 3 times live, 2 times with total live band and dj scratching and it ALWAYS sounds that authentic. if you wana see NRP tiny desk sound/video engineer shit that blew my mind watch the tyler the creator one. the black lights and audio shit.... i thought i was trippin on somthing a few times, actually still cant tell if its a video feed filter or just the actual lights lol.

Facts. This video only had 2.3 mil views before his death, and now its grown to 100million. God Bless Mac Miller.
This tiny desk concert is the best grounding tool that I've found. His honesty, integrity and humility continued to grow and he would've continued to dazzle everyone including himself if he wasn't taken before his time. Rip Mac. We definitely lost someone special when we lost Mac.
december 2020 and still missing Mac, it ain't 2009 no more I think...

R.I.P. Mac ❤
