Thanks for watching! I'm a huge Mac fan and was so impressed by John Mayer's cover. The sound came through a little thin on the original recording so I wanted to enhance the quality of the audio with a proper mastering job for y'all to enjoy. Feel free to connect with me on Instagram @TheTylerAugust for more music, audio engineering, and artist branding content.
Also, if you're a fan of listening to music on vinyl, I highly recommend Mac's NPR Tiny Desk performance on vinyl which you can find here: amzn.to/459tGku Much love!
Thank you Tyler!!!!! Perfect timing for me…. I’m abundantly grateful ❤❤❤

Glad you did...the cover is easy listening
You are aware that John Mayer actually played on the original recording... right? This is a moving tribute. amazing legend level group of musicians, too.
Cover? He literally wrote (guitar) and played the original. This is a tribute
Most people dont realize that John Mayer actually played guitar in Mac's original album version. If you look at the full song credits, he is named.
Just looked this up. Totally makes sense now. Very cool!
very cool! Didnt know that
I’m pretty sure he told Mac that he didn’t want to be listed as a feature so as not to take away the attention from Mac
@@beerdo why are you mad? they were just saying this lmao
@@beerdo I am. I agree with him. The guitarist can totally change the feeling of a song. Every guitarist will play it a little differently, a little more flair, different touch and tone here and there. of course, I'm speaking strictly to guitar, as that's what I play :)

Circles just dropped, still can’t get over this. Grew up listening to John Mayer as my dad was a fan, I found and loved Mac, this is probably my favorite tribute.
Hand Me Downs guitars sounded like John Mayer, I loved it so much
He is great at tributes. Check his michael jackson tribute
John Mayer produced and played guitar for this track on the actual album...
Which is why the original song sounds so John Mayer-ish.
whats does your dad think of this
As a fan of John Mayer from the beginning, this makes me feel old 😅
His voice/ style really fits this song. He did an awesome job. Mac would have loved this.

as a matter of fact John helped to write that song

Soul soul and some more soul. Extremely underrated even being so big.
Mac’s bday’s just a few days away and it’s 2025 and I miss him so much. Hoping you are resting easy, Mac. 🤍
holy shit I got chills when macs adlibs came in😞 couldn't help but think he was gonna come out and start rapping. rest peacefully forever mac. we love you
Same... I had a sliver of hope that he’d come out and it was just a joke

I never liked John Mayer whenever I was young probably because he was a pussy magnet and I just couldn't understand it whenever I was like 10 and 11 years old because that's when he was the most popular. And friends super sexy sister that I was in love with growing up was a few years older than me and she was obsessed with John Mayer and that bum me out to. But now that I'm older this dude is an awesome musician and he did such an incredible job with this song. I've always loved the blues and music with guitar as its focal point anyways but it just took me awhile to get over the butthurt that John Mayer just seduces women LOL. I get it now though cuz he's got stupid amounts of swag

John smiled when he heard macs adlib come in

Johns singing voice suits this song so well.
John's voice suits with everything.
That fact that someone is singing it in key instead of talking it out of key makes a big difference.

2:38 I find this such a fun jazzy solo that Mayer plays here. You usually see him do blues licks and pentatonic stuff, which is fine, but this is also cool to hear from him. Maybe he knew that Mac liked the jazz cats alot ❤
Exactly
He even played out 😎
The ending guitar solo with mac singing is fucking beautiful.
agreed!
Both solos were great to me
I usually don’t like when people do different stuff than the album version but that solo is perfection

The whole show was a tribute to Mac, including statements from family and stuff I believe, so they probably already had cried in the beginning. And you can only cry for so long before your body is emotionally drained and you just can't anymore.
Everytime I watch this, I am genuinely enjoying it, and then Mac’s adlibs start playing and tears start welling. I never met Mac, he had no idea I even existed, but he will always have a special place in my heart. I’ll never forget him.

John Mayer giving props to Mac Miller… musicians understanding talent and seeing the future he had. I will forever love john Mayer for this
John helped write/compose this song my man.
Mac was heavily inspired by John, especially in his last album. If mac heard this he’d be in shock 🙏🏽
He has 👼🏼
John actually recorded the guitar on the original song
He didn’t want to be listed as a feature on this song. He was impressed with this album and song he showed up with no guitar heard this song asked max for a guitar played his part, said he wanted no cash and no credit for the song. Wanted Mac miller to get the attention he deserved for it. True musician .
I keep seeing more videos of John Mayer and he keeps becoming cooler
I think its important to show Mayer bringing up the story of Mac being nervous, and John acknowledging how very nervous he truly is, clearly, because he does not want to fail the incredible crowd praising another artists legacy. Mayers done this a million times but has obvious nerves because he knows who hes representing, idk that got to me. RIP Mac
hits different after you know he co-wrote this one with Mac... great version!!
I got into mac miller during the Covid lockdowns (circles came out) but my first song I heard of his was small worlds. Immediately loved it and began binging his discography, when I learned that he passed away two years prior I was devastated that I’d never get to see him live. Since then he’s always been a staple in my playlist rotations. This tribute cover made me tear up, reminding me of when I first got into him realizing I’d never see a live performance. Ballonerism has an official release so I’ve been playing it on repeat. 92 til infinity
