The burning monk wasn’t protesting the war, he was merely protesting the oppression of the Buddhist, as he said. Ironically, rather than ending the oppression, it kicked it into high gear. His protest ultimately did nothing for the cause, but he was remembered fondly because of, well, the media. The picture taken by the AP journalist looked surreal, a great photograph. That was what immortalised Thich Quang Duc. He wasn’t the first to do such a thing, and wasn’t the last. But the picture made him into a legend. Which is the point. What’s the point of killing yourself for your cause, if it doesn’t have the media power to send a message? Lucky for Thich Quang Duc, the AP reporter brought his camera with him. Compare his selflessness to John Lennon and Yoko shallow bed protest, it really shows that the intention, sincerity and meaning completely pales to the spectacle. I would argue that Lennon and his mad wife did more to rouse up the public than Thich Quang Duc, but I have no statistics to back that up. In any case, it’s up to comedians to deliver these lessons succinctly.

He could make reading a cereal box funny.
3:35 it's funny because it's true

Shag is already an euphemism, no need to censor that.
The fact remains that they don't want their revenue removing.

With RUclips and their bs advertiser friendly policies it makes no sense for a channel to risk

That burning monk happened in Saigon in 1963, it triggered the coup that saw president Diem and his evil brother executed, Diem's brothers wife, "the dragon lady", mocked the monks death claiming he was forced into doing it, when re-cremated, his heart wouldn't burn and became a holy relic, when the govt stole it, more immolations occured, then protestor shootings, thus the coup.
I like the Billy joel song.
Im pretty sure it isnt even a protest song, just a list of one thing from every year of his life so far at that point
@@abewilson6830 he needs to keep adding to it
Worst song ever.
jaunt 360-- Maybe he had a good reason for writing it, but I still find the melody and music of the song very shmaltzy. If you like the lyrics, that's fine, but the music is just too corny and commercial.
@@banishedfromthedwarfplanet530 its billy joel, what did you expect XD
I like him too tho.
so brilliant
