Thank you for all these creative striking techniques. Nine limbs. Use all of them. BTW, I found a channel by a 78 y/o boxer in England. He throws the cross in a unique very effective way. (FranksNobelArt)
@@Docinaplane Yes Frank throws the close in SHORT cross. Effective. There is no ONE way to throw a bunch or block a punch. You need all of them in your arsenal for any given circumstance.
I've wrapped my hands for boxing countless times and NEVER had any type of hand formed like that. Yes, the wrap goes between the fingers, but my fingers are still together and a normal fist is formed when you clench.
then the glove on top of that. I love boxers and not denigrating them whatsoever. Just saying it is impossible to make a complete fist as in a bare knuckle for the street. This was not the main focus of the video either.
Good video. I think most of the traditional 'blocks' are actually strikes for close in fighting. I like tiger mouth (koko), I've used it successfully to defend myself a couple of times - it's a fight finisher.
A technique I swear by, and have used more than once, is a back fist to the eye socket. You can do it easily from almost any angle, its so fast people don't see it coming, and when you hit the eye socket you overload their optic nerve and they see an explosion of stars which often makes them drop to their knees. Its a great technique to stun someone and create an opening to do something else. If they wear glasses you can just hit their glasses and it still works just fine, or you can switch to their nose.
@@matthewschafer6359 Extremely fast and very effective. I think the back -fist and the open palm are the most efficient strikes. SPEED and ACCURACY however. Thanks for the comment !
Yes they do as much as possible, but not like a bare fist. it is closed as much as the wrap permits, then the glove, so it is different. Not denigrating boxers. my dad was one and I Boxed too
@@ShihanTomCallahan I was a kickboxer for years and recently had my first pro bare knuckle match, and I can tell you that you completely wrong on the hand position bit. In fact the bar inside a glove with a wrap is more like throwing a punch with a roll of pennies in your hand. I have never seen a boxer fight in a street fight with their hands not balled up.
Actually most Kung Fu styles when they use a vertical fist do Not hit with the bottom knuckles. Only a minority of styles do it that way, like Wing Chun and Hsing-I. Notice those styles do not throw long range punches!
Excellent points
Glad you think so!❤
Great advice! Thank you for the great content :)
Happy you think so. Thank you for the comment and I appreciate your support! OSU!
Insightful, valuable striking tutorial in just over 7 minutes. Concise, to the point, with excellent demonstration and detail. Thank you sir!

Good delivery, Tom.

Isshin ryu has very good bareknuckle striking methods that are very similar to old english pugilism

exactly!
I like the palm heel to the ear area.
effective yes Thank you for the comment
@@tomcallahan393 I used it once when I was in college. It gave me a scare because it took maybe 4 minutes for the guy to come around.
OSU Shihan. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting! I know that Bas Rutten swears by the forearm strike, clothesline style.
Street fighting. Yes.
When boxers wrap there hands they still make a full fist.

Correct. And they don't break their fifth metacarpal due to the angles and structure at which they throw their punches.
My shin is my best weapon.
Yes it can be effective for sure, but this video was mostly about street fighting and the weapons from your elbow down.
