  • Fixing an oil leak on a 2007 Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi
    I noticed when i had this 307 in my shed that it marked its territory with gearbox oil on the ground. Also when changing the brake disks i noticed that the front passenger side CV boot was loose and grease was beginning to escape.
    Both the CV boot and the driveshaft oil seal combined cost less than £20. I am doing the work using a jack and axle stands because the 305 getting the turbo diesel conversion is on the lift. However using a jack and axle stands gives a view more akin to what most DIYers will be doing. This is definitely a job that can be tackled DIY and should greatly increase the service life of this car.

    Nice to see someone on here who knows how to use tools rather than just hitting everything with a hammer. Thanks

      Haha thanks for that, the hammer does have an important role in stress relief but the proper tools definitely avoid times when that is needed.

    hi my friend, very good explanatory video, just wondered is the gearbox oil filler located in the same place on a 308 SW 1.6 hdi, regards billy

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 3 года назад

      Yes, same place. BTW it's worth mention that it's way easier to fill up these gearboxes from the top. Just pull out the breathing cap and voila the perfect filling spot.
      Filling from the side is more challenging, depending on the tools and material at hand.
      From the top a rather common funnel, is all that's needed! ;-)

As i am not daily driving a 406 anymore i have less reason to do videos for it and generally there are not too many more 406 topics i can cover. However if you have 406 related questions i can try and help or at least assist you in finding help.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      If the driveshaft slips out of the gearbox yes gearbox oil can leak out, it does not harm to have a bottle of oil spare just incase any is lost

    Que paso con el cambio de motor al citroen xantia

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  4 года назад +1

      El motor salió de la Xantia
      Quería la caja de cambios para el 305 que está obteniendo una conversión XUD9TE, el mismo motor que tenía el xantia aunque de un 405. El motor ha tenido una reconstrucción completa.
      Ese proyecto todavía está en progreso. Acabo de poner una caja de cambios 406 HDi 90 para poner en ese motor, usando esa caja de cambios porque está diseñada para tomar un embrague hidráulico y tiene mejores relaciones para conducir por autopista.

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV

      Perhaps the seal or driveshaft has not been installed correctly. It is very easy to damage these seals or have them misaligned which can cause a leak.

    Are you supposed to put some Gearbox oil on the drive shaft when inserting it back in?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi, it will do no harm, anything to help the shaft slide back in without dragging on the driveshaft seal to ensure the seal has the best chance of sealing.
      I normally spray the seal itself with silicone spray rather than use gearbox oil.
