Great video and Congrats on your 1 year with Melton! One thing I haven't caught in your videos is how much home time you actually take? I know Melton states 1 day home time for every 7 days out. I'm in process of obtaining my CDL and love everything I'm hearing about Melton. Keep the vidoes coming and thank you!
I agree with the DM. Right off the bat. I got my DM, and its been great from day one. Terminals are great, Laredo is my favorite to go. I'll be in Tulsa tomorrow. Wash laundry, workout, shower, and enjoy my day. Money no issues for me.
I’ve talked with a recruiter and considered Melton for about a year now, but I cannot justify OTR when local pay is the same. Driving concrete truck here pays $50k and full benefits for 40hrs/wk. I know you like deleting comments of those of us who like to share knowledge and wisdom with others, but maybe you’ll leave this one for other’s consideration.
Concrete trucks aren't CDL A so they don't give you experience towards getting a job that requires a year of hauling a tractor & trailer. Also experience is king with a CDL A license, get six months of OTR/Regional trucking and you can get into way higher paying CDL A jobs that can pay over 100,000 per year.
@@diedfrombored5295 I’ve applied for 70+ CDL A jobs, got two interviews and turned down one job offer. I have to wait until my license ages two years before insurance will cover me. I moved in a different direction because I was offered a cush federal job with full benefits.
@@stumpbumpers I know this comment is old, but for anyone who sees this, insurance couldn't care less about how long you've had your CDL. They want to know that you have experience, and will verify it. If you've had your CDL for 20 years, but only have 1 month of actual driving experience, you may as well have just gotten your license in their eyes.
@@pyl0nz938 Nope. Insurance only considers maturity of issue. Employers require verification of experience. They can only verify employment tracked by FMCSA or if the driver discloses past employers. But the employing party has to do the verifying. Some may not, has been my experience. If someone has their CDL and doesn’t use it, but says they are owner operator for those years on their resume, they’ll get hired by someone who isn’t checking. All you have to do is just keep applying until you get the call.
i rocc with u man and i mean i kno how i feel about melton. all in all they are a good company and will make u a flatbedder for real but still. dont delete anybodies comments u need to jus kill em with kindness and blow kisses at tha hearse! let people speak what they think because truth is theres people that are happy at western or cr england. in this game people need to realize what might be good for somebody else isnt gonna work for you! we all have different needs and need to find a place that we can fit into.
I completely agree with you. As far as people talking about other companies, I normally don’t mind, however, on a review video, no one cares how much you make there. They post to brag. A review video is meant for people that are interested in the company.
He probably set his tax deduction at the lowest. If I am right he might end up owning the IRS at the end of the year. When I make $8500 they took 2k in taxes which include Federal, State, Social security, and Medicare tax.
also man when it comes to pay, what it boils down to is the driver and their dispatcher. no other way around it. u cud get offered a shit ton of miles but only so 300 a day. u have to work if u want to earn.

Sad you misunderstood. Tge right time at the right place is what gets you the long mile road yoyr poor dm got nothing to do with your miles. As soon you do empty call and onboard call..planners time is ticking behind the scene and based on your home time and where you are close to (to minimize deadhead)..they assign you loads. DM tired to make you perceive tge process differently to earn your respect is what you giving
You have no clue man. Your planners and TAM find you the load. Your DM and you see it at tye same time. They have shy of 50 drivers per DM and you make it seem like you are heavily bothering your dm past normal communication. The last time me and My dm talked was 8-9months. As long as you do On time deliveriries and use macros, there is no need to g9 9ver board unless you are rookie and rely heavily on them to do your day to day task
Thanks got opening up your finances for us, very good insight

You’re very welcome! Sorry if I missed that info for you. I usually stay out every 6 months and then go home. Good luck with your CDL!
