Right now the Sony ZV1! But I really want to upgrade to the A7C soon! Love the additional flip out screen they added since the A7iii and the auto tracking looks legit!
You literally saved my day. i went through so many BS long videos and you were the only one making it easy and simple to understand. Thanks for this huge help. I bought some effects and Transitions from Ryne Nangles and I don't know if you have a video on how to add it to final cut. I tried it multiple times by the method he explained, but it didn't work. Hope you can help.
Thank you, very clear instruction for me as a beginner. Finally, I am exporting my first video in Final Cut Pro... After editing in Adobe Premiere Pro since 2017, Final Cut Pro feels so different... It took me a month to calm down and realize that if I purchased Final Cut Pro, I must learn it from scratch.
We've been doing RUclips now for little bit more than a year and our vlogs were always like 20-30 GB. So it took them very long especially in areas where the internet was super slow. Thank you SO MUCH for this video, now our vlogs are like 2-3 GB which makes it so much easier and faster to upload them, even with slow internet. Thanks! 🙏
Hellloooo, when I go to share or file > share it doesn't have master file it says export file, is that the same thing or how do I get master file?! Thank you to anyone who can help I just started on final cut from premier today 😂
Man I’ve been battling with 8gb flies for the longest which I’m sure plays into longer upload times but this is definitely gonna help moving forward. Thanks 👍🏾
Thank You! I just bought a Sony a7Siii and 2k lens for it. I’m new to XAVC SI codec and was painfully frustrated until I found your hard won work you freely share with the public. Much thanks!
I watch your videos everyday as I am starting out. This is so great. A weird thing happened in Final Cut Pro, where I exported a video, and only the first 70% was saved. I was wondering what I was doing wrong? A glitch....? Did this ever happen to you? I am trying to troubleshoot.
I've only been uploading to YT for...YIKES!!!...too many years without knowing this. So valuable. I now have a 4k preset and a 1080p preset. Much thanks to you, sir!!!
Great video BUT.... These settings are NOT good for HDR content, as this method will auto downgrade a HDR FCPX export to 8 bit SDR color. What settings do you recommend for HDR?
This video is perfect! Good thing I found this because I always used to normal export settings and one video was 16gb.. With your settings now it's down to 3gb!
Question. The first time you did the settings for RUclips it was set to Save Only. The second time it was on default QuickTime player. So, which is the right option for RUclips? Thanks
Awesome video, thanks! Quick question - I've seen VERY conflicting info regarding 24 vs 30 fps for RUclips. I've seen several folks say RUclips prefers 30 fps? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the explanation. I searched on the web and mov files are converted to mp4 by RUclips (if what I read is correct, but it makes sense, as RUclips would want to save a smaller file on their servers and have a universally support format). It's also less upload and processing time, but when someone else views the video after it's uploaded, let's say from Android device, it will be an mp4 file even if it was originally uploaded as a mov file. So I didn't understand your comment from 2:20. Thanks again, your video is clear and useful.
What about changing the format to "Apple Devices" instead of "Computer", I notice the file size get significantly larger? Would it be a better quality?
I don't see the "better quality" setting when I follow this! It only has the Faster Encode option under Computer. Any idea why that may be? Should I still export that way - or would it be better to convert the .mov to an .mp4 another way? Thanks!
Consistency helps to improve quality and confidence. Don't wait for the quick results and don't build high expectations. Just go step-by-step to win in the long run.
I finally upgraded to final cut pro, and your videos have been so helpful!! Been following you guys since I started my channel about 2 years ago. Started with shorts and that's how I found you! Thank you for your knowledge ♥
Hi Nolan, just wanted to let you know your videos are my go to as I learn how to use FCPX. Great info, to the point and easy to follow. Thanks so much.
Awesome video. This was exactly the answer I was looking for. My computer crashed and I lost everything (thankfully had a backup on my external). Had to start Final Cut Pro X from scratch. I didn't know the best settings to choose and you nailed it. Made me feel even better knowing it's coming from Think Media. Big fan of your content.
You did a very good job of explaining how to create an export setting and save it and it is good to know to how to best configure it for RUclips. But I didn't get the part of how to get it to RUclips? Correct me but it looks like these setting just export a .mp4 to your computer (as a file) and then you have to go into RUclips and upload it. There was in you FCP (example) a RUclips & Facebook export settings. Could you duplicate that and changed the settings for export (&upload) in one button? It would have been nice to have spent maybe double the time and explain the second half of uploading this .mp4 to RUclips? Or maybe you're planing a part 2? Good work again I just needed a little bit more... :)
Thank you Nolan! I was just noticing some of my videos were looking blurrier than usual, I thought it was because of the Big Sur update (I’m not super tech savvy) but now I’m thinking its the .mov as opposed to using the .mp4 - i will definitely try this out for my next video!
As always, Thank You for sharing!! My project is from the GoPro Hero10 which is 4096 x 3112 .mov. I did exactly what you explained but, after clicking on computer > H.264 Better Quality the highest resolution that was given in the drop down list was 2844 x 2160? I'd like to add that I'm still on OS Mojave due to converting a ton of older video formats that the newer versions won't allow. Any idea why my project resolution isn't showing up in the drop down? Thanks again.... Great job!! 😊👍
Quick question. Should I be exporting to my computer before I upload to RUclips? I've been uploading directly to RUclips for a while now and I haven't had any issues.
Thanks for posting a video on this. Just getting into video editing and posting on my other RUclips channel and it for sure helped me get my 1st video posted.
When you export from fcp, it reduces your bitrate of the video, u should use compressor and send it there from fcp. Yet I have an issue that video gets pixelated when moving camera for some reason. Any solution for it ?
I don't know if something changed in the latest update to FCP, but when I try to save the export preset and select "Computer" as the format, it will not allow me to select "H.264 Better Quality".... I am stuck with the "Faster Encode" option. Is this a deal breaker? Thanks for all your great videos!
I will say, RUclips still takes it's sweet time processing 4k haha, but since I've been using h.264 and .mp4 that files have been WAY smaller and generally uploads faster! Great tip! Really happy to see Final Cut Pro vids!
Thanks bro, this helps a lot. Beside noticing that RUclips destroys the quality a bit to .mov files, I also had problems with upolading a .mov video to Instagram on Android phones. Hope this change will help.
This is great thank you!! I just updated my FC version. I kind of wish they had kept the direct share/upload to YT. Now I have to save to my computer then upload. Errrr. I'm working with 10-15 GB videos.
Great Video!!!! Thank You. Life saver. One question, how come there isn’t a wheel or icon to let you know it’s compressing the video for you or started? Am I missing something?
This must have changed now in Final cut. I have followed your video and sadly when I change to those settings you suggest I end up with a 4.6GB file for an 11-minute video. Any idea why? I used a DJI pocket camera in 4k.
Thank you for these quick and short video tutorials! They are exactly what I need to know. I am learning how to use Final Cut Pro for my youtube videos.
interesting theory about .mov / .mp4, I personally believe RUclips/google want .mp4 over .mov, isn't actually due to device compatibility, but rather, they can outright output .mp4 almost immediately. but when it's a .mov, they (But they do this anyway) re-encode the videos anyway, but I think if it's .mp4, it outright converts faster within their pipeline, as opposed to .mov. At least that's my theory,
Awesome. I hope you guys are coming out with a Premiere Pro for Windows tutorial. Also, what do you recommend about save talking head shots. I have a lot storage of talking head files that I don't think I will be using again. What do you recommend? Save the talking head shots or delete?
Thank you for the video. I don't know if it's me but when I change the format to "Computer" it changes the file type to MP4, but does not allow me to change the codec to "Better Quality".
