- Hi guyz thanks for reading this description. Honestly I've no idea if anyone reads it but here goes. This video was filmed in July when there was a series of heatwaves, so it was red hot hence the short cruising days. And it was the shallowest and weediest canal I've ever come across, but the scenery really made up for it.
Thank you to Emma and Sam from Pub of the Week Melbourne Arms, Malcolm, CRT, PCAS and all the new and old Crank It Crew members who support me on my journey. Right let's throw in some links...
robbiecumming.com is my website and it has links to everything including my music which I use on the videos and other stuff such as merchandise and my TV show Canal Boat Diaries.
Hope you enjoyed watching this video, it's part one so expect the next instalment in a week or so. Until then keep cranking! Cheers!
I had such a hard time on that canal. Fair play to us solo boaters for taking this canal on. cheers buddy
Robbie must tell you how you keep my sanity, love all videos on here. Sorry at 76 cannot afford at the moment t to be a cranky for you, but you are appreciated. Good luck to you.
Your editing in this video is brilliant, some of the shots you took is a feast on the eyes, when you moored up and had the scenery of the fields through the trees, the spider and the scenery from your boat was amazing. More of that please good sir.
Thanks Dean very kind of you
@@RobbieCumming dont mention it buddy, I know it's in you andbits not luck like you thought it was last time. I use yo work as a photographer in the past photographing famous people, so can always appreciate it when you pull these great shots off buddy. So keep it coming.
yip it really is stunningly brilliant including the ghosting effects you`re audience loves You Robbie keep the good work up
What a gorgeous vlog. The mist on the cut and the swans swimming by is sublime. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you. The Pock is definitely on my list of 'to do's'
The tractor going over that bridge then the swans in the mist. Absolutely beautiful Robbie. 😊
It’s like navigating down some Amazonian tributary. Heart of crankin’ darkness 😅
Wow, a country canal all to yourself, quiet observations in nature, nice landings and mooring AND a Pub of the Week with eats!!! Looks like Nirvana to me Robbie. Bring on part 2.
It is a beautiful canal. Old canals like that do need some boat traffic, but it also has to be limited to protect the wildlife. The Pocklington Canal is wonderful for wildlife and supports many species that are scarce in the surrounding countryside.
Nice video.
This is a brilliant channel. Didn't know where to go after 'mooring the cut', but this feels like home. . Love the secluded canals. More more more
I feel the same way.
Lovely film. Thank you.
A beautifully crafted visual feast. It was a pleasure to watch this piece of your work. I look forward to viewing part 2.
Despite the weed and the effort, I found that really relaxing.
That was just what we needed , looking forward to Part 2 🥳
Love your videos Robbie.
My wife and I walked the full length of the Pocklington Canal two weeks ago and were on the look out for “The Naughty Lass” but didn’t see her.
It’s a beautiful canal, very wild and tranquil but unnavigable at Bielby, towards Canal Head near Pocklington.
Thanks Robbie, that was a delight, the red Massey Ferguson 135 tractor crossing the bridge, so cute, love 135s. Take care.
What a beautiful canal and countryside. It’s a tad hard work and slow going but worth it for the scenery 👍
Thank you so much for another fantastic video Robbie. Such a pleasure to watch in these very stressful times. You Sir, are a legend. 🙂
Love the drone footage, nice. Awesome underwater footage.....fish and everything! We need more of this for sure.
Brilliant vlog Robbie, beautifully captured and edited. I liked the guitar scene; nice to see you playing.
Been following you for a few weeks in preparation for our three week narrow boat canal journey . We are comb from Western Australia
I never get bored of your channel rob, the music, visuals and you, is the whole trifecta.
I live in "Melbourne" Australia, born near a canal in Wednesbury Black Country, ......I wish we had canals here! good stuff Robbie!
Keith, there's actually a cricket club in Melbourne (there was at least when I live over that way, hope it is still in existence); obviously, to me it's the MCG.
That’s amazing. I live in “Leeds” , one of only 2 cities in the world that includes quotation marks in its name , apparently.
Хорошие красивые места. Удачи вам .
Most beautiful countryside and canal. I was watching while sitting outside my house in an equally gorgeous weather (and similarly hot). Lots of weeds, yes, but I enjoy canals where the water is so clear you can see deep down. Glass half full, I'd say. Cheers!
All those Water Lilies. Fabulous to see but know that propeller can get so chocked!
Even with all the boat hic cups...... Every turn is a beautiful picture and those pictures tell a thousand stories! Thanks! Love it!
Fave bits - the passing swans and the acoustic guitar choon. 👍
I canoed this a long time ago; a hidden treasure. 👏🏻
Thank you so much for sharing this journey and the beautiful scenery. It’s so well edited and some of your camera work is truly outstanding. I lived just a stone’s throw form this canal as a child and still have a deep love for the area. Makes me want to follow in your footsteps. 🙏
How clear the water is and the fish what a lovely place no one to bother you ideal love the vlogs man xx
As others have said - great bit of filming - the flotilla of swans gliding along out of the mist - so peaceful.
Some amazing photography there well done, but that weed and just loved the swan family
That tree that smacked you scared me . Lol. What a trip.
Those underwater shots are really nice. New subscriber. New Zealand. Cheers.
Welcome Clive - do you know what I misread that as underwear and thought oh christ what have I done!!!
Ha ha ha ha ha. I know THAT feeling Bro. Yes indeed !
Whilst living in Leeds in the mid eighties I cycled out to here and walked/cycled along the canal bank from the Derwent to Pocklington. I remember the crystal clear water and total peace and quiet.Magic.
A magical shot of the swans.
Always nice to catch up with some of your boating
I keep thinking there is a pizza box on th roof, but its the roof hatch. 😂🍕🍕
Thanks for all the hard work needed to make this vlog 👍
I've now been on that canal twice. First time with Narrowboat Will and now you. And I must say, the weed looked worse this time. Using your pole made it look even more like "African Queen". Nothing, not even a free boat at the end could induce me to navigate that canal. Another great video, thanks Robbie, take care Skipper.
Absolutely beautiful that Robbie! Tranquility, peaceful it was lovely to see the canal so full of life!
All is not lost... 😊
Fab photography, loved the underwater and sunset shots. Enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing x x
So Melbourne….also the name of the village I live in, but in Derbyshire. I did happen across the Yorkshire one when going to see a friend in York and thought I’d have a look. Lovely part of the world… the cut looks lovely.
13:25 Simply Stunning!
Brilliant vlog Robbie. Absolutely lovely. Thanks
Keep playi ng love your guitar
I love the peace and beauty of that canal. Great solitude and plenty of blessings there to enjoy. Thankful for your share Robbie.
Enjoyed the journey with you. Those weeds didn't look like fun but I agree it's beautiful scenery. Cheers
Brilliant one Robbie! I don't know if it's just me, but your films have really stepped up a level. I lot of bloody hard hours have obviously gone into it mate, very well done 👏
Thank you so much i am trying!
Always enjoy your vlogs. very well done! My favorite parts are the scenery an your commentary. Robbie you really do sell yourself short. your a wonderful host an i look forward to watching . be safe now an have fun!
That haunting little melody you played reminds me of a song called 1865 by Travis Napier. You both play from the heart ✌🏻 🍀 🙂
Wow thank you
Always Brilliant Videos..........
My dear friend, this is exactly what I needed. This just calms my mind so quickly and without any of those struggles I have had in the past few weeks. Your videos have been very helpful and truly inspiring to make something out of life. Thank you so much for your creativity and inspiration. Wishing you the best :)
I just had a ‘dog blanket’ and bin liner about my prop on the Ashby, August bank holiday! The weed hatch off away we go ….. 2 hours later …💪🏻
Always appreciate your canal journeys.
Hi Robbie loved the video. I actually had a paddle on the Pock-Canal yesterday and not a bit of weed although granted, it is January. We dropped in at Hagg Bridge and I have to say that of all the canals I have paddled on this one takes some beating. I will be going back but after watching this video, not during the warmer months. All the best pal 😂😂
Loved the aerial and under water opening shots and the family of swans and tranquility. Thank you for taking me there.
Absolutely loving your journey, amazing photography, the whole package. 🐞
Excellant vlog as usual. You did good on that challenging water. I could have done with out the spider tho! 😆 Thanks Robbie.
Another fantastic video Robbie really enjoyed it. All the best mate
i LOVED IT, once you you got going those darned weeds thanks
Thank you Robbie.
Idyllic waterway. So crystal clear. But it must be like boating through vegetable soup!
Robbie’s vlogs are
awesome, I love the mix of his music, the scenery and being part of the adventure! It’s where I go to de-stress! Keep up the amazing work 🤘🏻
Some beautiful images, Robbie, such as the swans and cygnets emerging through the mist! The scenery is stunning.
Looks more like the bayou than Pocklington. 😉
That's such a beautiful canal Robbie. Shame about the weeds. The water looks so clear. Not like that on the Shroppie!
Oh my goodness, lovely for some to look at it, but hell for your propeller!
Just looking at all that pollen in the air made my nose drip.
Just a fanastic film, thank you so much.
Hydrodynamics is the correct term.
The Bernoulli effect will pull you down in the shallow water when at speed. It also defines why two boats that are passing close they will tend to come together.
Interesting thank you!
Very interesting! I knew two boats would be drawn together but didn't know that a boat would be pulled downwards in shallow water.
I will file that away for next time I'm on a boat. 😂
The show is quite entertaining. The gentleman seems a bit
unprepared. No coal? Meandering through unused canals? The camera work is beautiful and the score is calming..
Ten-out-of-ten.
Cheers again,
JATSEA
That scenery was breathtaking. Worth the occasional visit to the weed hatch.
Stunning, best thus far Robbie.. Love the serenity!
Thank you ❤
Looks so peaceful there.
Has vibes of the Chesterfield too what with all the weeds, shallow depths and the tranquility.
That swan family sequence was just lovely
I’ve loved that…thank you!
Enjoyed this one Robbie - a bit different from the usual canal vlogs - keep it up
Such a relaxing vlog, Robbie. Thank you for sharing. Stay well.
A trooper! Determination you have in bag loads! Inspiring you are! Excellent video, thanks for taking us along!
Fabulous ❤️
Robbie great to see you in East Yorkshire - Gods country the shot of the sunrise was truly stunning alongside one the most beautiful and sadly underused canal
Great vlog, so tranquil on remote parts of county side.
Aww thanks for the mention Robbie, proud to be part of the Crank it crew 😎 xx
Cracking video! Really enjoy these and your show on the BBC!
Brilliant video love seeing all the different places you have been as a boater myself I take my hat off to you doing it single handed you make it look easy lol loving canal boat diaries watching for the 2nd time. 😀😀
Hi Robbie, great video, sitting here in Glasgow, glass of whisky in hand, totally chilled with your latest trip, How lucky are you big man.!
Thanks Robbie
Lovely scenery. Awesome pub.
Well done for another great video. Keep it up please
I really enjoyed this….nice videography! Whew, I’m tired just watching your trudging through….but splendid scenery and fun pub!
Beautiful, loved the gorgeous photography, at times i was transported to pre-Raph period, it had gotten all ‘Lady of Shallot’! Another epic vlog, thanks Robbie! ❤️🐚
Majestic Robbie, master craftsman.
You video some wonderful views and wildlife.
The thumb nail.
“Ahhh try pedestrianising this!”
Amazed you never wear some sort of hand/arm protection when dipping into the prop box!7
Top canal moment at 15.00, the early morning capture
Thanks for the warning . My boat is going nowhere near it
One word: superb
Hi Robbie, I was just researching my family tree and it would appear my 4th Great grandfather was from Bugthorpe, which is quite close to the canal. The reason I mention this is he then makes a journey when at working age and ends up in Patricroft (Bridgewater Canal) where he gets married and starts a family. It wasn't until I saw this video that the penny dropped as to how he travelled that far. Looks like around 1800 when he made the journey. He's clearly used that canal and I wouldn't have realised if not for your video. I wonder what route he did it in ....
Steam trains used to have cow catchers to push large animals off the tracks, canal boats need weed catchers to push the weeds aside.
I was just wondering if it would help to have someone leaning over the bow with a garden rake. 🤣
Thanking You Robbie i Loved the camera work and the way you capture the scenery, You deserve first prize for portraying English narrow boat canals 👍 and pub of the week 10.5 out of 10 🙂😜
I’ve never had first prize before thank you!!!
Awesome as usual Robbie!
