Somerset cousin. I love all your videos.I was also born in Somerset.I’d love to live the life you have.it’s so exciting to see where your going next. 🙋♀️🌻🇬🇧
Love Braunston….when my late husband knew he was not going to beat his cancer…he asked me to scatter his ashes in the canal at Braunston….. So that’s what l did ❤️❤️
Something. Bout your vlogs capture the magic of the canals. No airs. No graces. Pure honesty. Love it. Was you vlogs that got me interested to live on the canals. Still to happen but fingers crossed. Best wishes
Hi Robbie, this was part of our canalboat holiday, loads of great memories are coming back, if your new series is anything like this video, they'll be perfect, just listening to the boat chugging along is so relaxing. More of this please
Welcome back Robbie, so good to see another video from you again its been to long. Something about your vlogs just makes the day feel better. Looking forward to the next one.
I live on the canals now with my daughter. It was your videos that got us on holiday on the canals and eventually on our own boat. We love all the trials tribulations and coal dust we first saw on your videos💪 After we bought the boat from whilton we moored on the same spot at bridge 87 on the Oxford 👍
Great to bump into you in Daventry on Saturday morning Robbie. Lovely chat - and we really enjoyed the video. You even managed to capture a view of the rear of our house when you were filming the church from the canal!
Robbie. Thank you for your great video of our village. The Braunston Canal Society (you came past us working when you came out of Braunston Tunnel) help to keep the GU and Oxford canals in good order for all. Enjoyed your drone shots. Looking forward to playing the CD. More please!!
Welcome back. You have been missed. Very much looking forward to the new series of Canal Boat Diaries. I was beginning to regret having binge watched your RUclips back catalogue last year. I must have watched several years of content in a matter of weeks, and then all of a sudden I had caught up and was on meagre rations. Good to see you back and the music and scenery has me nice and relaxed now. Will definitely be buying the CD. Keep on cranking out those videos.
Great video, There is a plaque on the marina bridge in Braunston dedicated to Rose & Bill Whitlock my grandparents. (along with Laura Carter) who worked the narrowboats right up until the commercial end. Renfrew was one of the boats they use to have. After they stopped working they lived on 'Lucy' just outside the marina bridge until they eventually moved on land. (Laura still lives in the village) They are buried there along with many other boating people. It is a natural spring in the boundary wall of the church.
I was born and grew up in Braunston. My mum was born and raised there. And my grandfather. My great grandparents worked on the boats. And my great uncle used to steer the ice breaker on the canal. A lovely village.
Hi Robbie, So glad to see you back. I've been following your adventures since about day one and I thought you'd abandoned us and gone over to the dark side (wherever that may be). Really pleased you're back. Great vlog, thanks.
I kept my first boat at Braunston when you could moor just past the lockhouse if you where reasonable. narrowboat Raymond was moored outside the lockhouse and Arthur Bray and his wife were still in residence. He kept an eye on my boat for me. This was in 1972 I think. .
I remember seeing Arthur outside Poacher when it was moored there. That would have been mid 90s. Felt really privileged to have met him. A few years later we were wanting a bigger boat and discovered Poacher was for sale. We bought her and spent the next few years living on her. We loved that boat. The shed next to the Stop House was called "Poachers Shed". We took Poacher through Braunston in 2003 and moored at their old spot for an hour. Rosemary came down to see her.. Happy times.
Great video, and excellent quality photography, good to see you back. Braunstone is a wonderful place; shame the Admiral Nelson has been so gentrified, but good to see it open again. It used to play a significant role in the life of the canals. Morton used its public bar as an office to schedule boats and loads in the old canal carrying company days. In the evenings, boat crews would get out their squeeze boxes, sing, drink and make merry before setting off at dawn on the next voyage. Look forward to your next video, Regards, PMh
You've turned a wet, windy and miserable day in to something a whole lot better. I was at The Admiral for my landmark birthday last week.Great pub and excellent food. The Wheatsheaf is also good and, as you say, more of a villagers local. Gomgoozlers Rest do a cracking breakfast. The church spire was used by the canal construction company as a marker to make sure Braunston tunnel was straight and true.
Yo Robbie, great to see you back on the tube. Great video and a lovely place to start your trip from. Looking forward to dropping in on your next vlog. Take care. 👋
Its fantastic to have you back Robbie. The video quality improvement was noticeable immediately, but 3 weeks to edit it down must have been tedious and require some pretty beefy computing power to male it efficient. Well done on releasing a CD, I am in for a copy.
Great video. This is where it all started for me. I bought my boat at Braunston Marina a year ago and spent a couple of months in the area before venturing off. Brings back warm memories. :)
Thanks for the video, long time no see! Being in the US, I can't see the TV stuff, so very glad you've posted a new one on RUclips. Braunston looks like a great place to be, and thank goodness you found the right sort of Pub 🍻 😁. Kind of nice not knowing where you're going next. Even better that you can take your home right along with you as you go. Congratulations and well done on your very first CD. You're talented and it should sell well 👍. I can't cruise the canals, but I definitely feel a massive road trip coming on. I've driven around most of the US with my dogs. Haven't really explored the northeast though, so may have to Head East. 🎶
Hi Robbie I am soooo pleased to see your series on bbc4 again as on the big screen. Although repeats I am enjoying them so much, many thank yous, Margaret.
Thanks Robbie as always. I'll definitely get the album, I love your sounds. Recently got Bennie Jone's album. A really good listen. Recommended! Im really loving the banter sounds around right now. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Bill.
Good to see you back - used to play that version of skittles at the Anchour in Warmington, near Banbury so seems like it's not just a Northampton only game. They also sold the best Barley Wine ... rocket fuel!! ... back in the 70's.. bet its changed now though.
Another brilliant video, I think the upgrade in quality is great. I find your recordings are inspiring and perfect to chill out to, keep up the good work.
I took my Mom & Dad on a narrowboat for their 50th Anniversary a while ago and we traveled where you are in this video. Wonderful to remember our trip again! THANKS!!!
Great video, made my day seeing this uploaded. Also I didn't realise bar skittles was a Northamptonshire thing. I played a couple of times about 20 years ago when I lived in Northampton, glad to see it's still going strong! Congrats on the CD, great achievement Robbie!
Hi Robbie, it's so good to see you back on RUclips again. I have watched you for years, and your stories are always very interesting. By the way, your new camera really has a great video, I'm looking forward to this year's adventures. Be safe and well, good luck in all you due.
Great to see you back Robbie, lovely day and a wonderful area on the network. Section near where you moored, by bridge.....a few years ago I was involved in the rescue of a calf which had entered the water, and did not know how to get out. Boaters all helping, ropes, folk in water, queues of boats both ways. Eventually we landed the exhausted youngster. Meanwhile, Mum, who was calling for her youngster, was out of eyesight (the field was raised with the natural curve of land and canal) and then had to be ushered across the field to be reunited with her babe. Thanks for some super views, and a personal comment on Braunston village, a great place.
I was at crick boat show in 2018, and we were staying near Braunston. The Nelson pub was really really busy, but I liked that you could literally sit out at the canal and gongoozle with a pint. Had some Sunday roast too. Walking along the canal was nice too and around Braunston Marina, It's nice to be brought back there in full HD 😂 The church really stood out, it felt very iron working canal boating kind of place.
When I lived in Milton Keynes, I loved going to Braunston and Stoke Bruene . We also played Skittles in Bucks ! Enjoyed your BBC series and this Vlog too ! Greetings from Joe Biden’s hometown,Scranton, Pennsylvania

Stopped in Braunston myself. That hill up to the shop is a beast for an old fella like me!
I live on the canals now with my daughter. It was your videos that got us on holiday on the canals and eventually on our own boat. We love all the trials tribulations and coal dust we first saw on your videos💪

Enjoying this on a snowy March night in Ottawa Canada. I am a retired lockmaster from the Rideau Canal. Thanks for the video.
