Great to see you out and about filming again. I'll give you a tip: I think you need a good pair of nitrile gloves and snug work gloves over them (for when your cranking), and some stylus'. I use these all the time while working in the field. I work as an engineer for a county sanitation district here in the states, "trust me, keeping my hands clean and germ (poopoo) free is a priority." Cheers to Barry on his sobriety, your attitude and outlook on life improve ten fold when you come to the realization that you don't need alcohol to make you happy, there are plenty of other things in life to take it's place.

Robbie Cumming Sorry if I wasn’t paying proper attention to the porridge making, but I thought you said you were adding cream rather than milk. I’m sure you know how best to do it without my intervention. I forgot to say in the first message how wonderful to hear you’re in the process of making the second TV series, and hope it doesn’t get too frustrating achieving the end goal.

Well done Robbie, you are an inspiration to us all. I am really looking forward to seeing Series 2 and I hope that this will include the Lancaster canal. The Calder & Hebble handspikes are truly rubbish, mine broke at the first lock so I used a mooring pin instead which proved to be an excellent solution to the problem as without it were going nowhere. Stay safe, keep cranking and I look forward to your next voyage. Cheers and Beers, Dave

Great video Robbie, thanks for sharing, it’s always refreshing to hear people thinking of others rather than just themselves which sadly is certainly the impression portrayed in the media quite often these days. We took the decision to “lockdown” a couple of weeks prior to the official advice due to vulnerable relatives and glad we did. All the best mate, will no doubt adapt, stay safe and better safe than sorry with all the cleaning. Paul

When doing Chilli Con Carne I always use a tin of chopped tomatoes & chilli beans in chilli sauce.
You can also add garlic, turmeric, paprika, cumin and garam masala to flavour.
    Best served with crusty bread.

Great video. Barry is an inspiration. He’s done so well and is a great ambassador for an alcohol free life. I love a drink and the evening never seems complete if I don’t have a G&T but to be honest during lockdown I was feeling like it was starting to affect my health and my memory! So I decided to stop. I’m now having just a tonic with ice and a slice and I’m really enjoying it and I’m richer. Mind you I did but 4 cans of Guinness for this weekend but just for medicinal purposes 😁 Thanks as always for sharing your adventure. I can’t wait for the next series of Canal Boat Diaries, without a G&T!

Barry spoke about the shakes, well suffered that and got by with a large glass of Egyptian brandy before going into the mess hall, the brandy help keep the cornflakes on the spoon.
That was way back and halve cut down on drinking a lot, I now have a drink or three for pleasure, not that I need one. Hardly open the liqueur cabinet unless friends come by, couple of cans of the lowest proof beer to cool down after walking the dog, maybe a session once a week of 3 pts to talk english with a Brit neighbor or someone's wedding/birthday. Enjoying life and the corn flakes stay on the spoon without help.

Probably worth noting Robbie. In about a weeks time the footy is back, and its on the telly for free (mostly). Probably would be a great time to get chunks of filming done for the TV because the tow paths (and for that matter the cut in general) should be a bit quieter while its on. Thank you for explaining the transfer on your neck. I was seriously concerned that isolation drove you so bonkers that you broke out and got a Disney tattoo from an underground tattoo artist. Regarding chili con carne: I learned my go to recipe in East Texas where, unlike West Texas, they use beans and tomatoes. Fresh tomatoes are always luverly, but tinned, diced work quite well in case you ever find yourself in a culinary wasteland...

Ghost ship 0.5% is brewed in the normal way then they use osmosis to remove the alcohol so it does not alter the taste. Clever stuff.

Top, top vlog Robbie! 😀 It had it all ...
    - Drum 'n' Bass vibes
    - Superb filming
    - A lovely bloke called Barry
    - Sailor tattoo (sort of)
    - Beer of the week (sort of)
    - Messy con carne
    - Lots and lots of laughs
Simply brilliant. The best thing I've watched during lockdown.
You should be on the telly 😉
Good luck with season 2 filming!
