For anyone else watching, I tried addon version 1.41 with blender 4.2. It sort of works but the internal and external thickness features don't work. Resulting in the interior almost always being filled unless you go to a really fine resolution.
I tried it in 3.6 and everything works as expected.

where to find color 1 and color 2?

  • @angelo8606
    @angelo8606 Месяц назад

Does it have to be a closed mesh with no faces missing? I can't get it to work without filing in the faces, which isn't doable for every object I want to do.

_Does this addon have a chance to be used for version 1.12.2 maps because of the Blockbuster mod?_
Although I seem to have figured out how to do it: move everything that is not available in this version straight into the Unused category 😅
Also very interesting to know if it is possible to add custom list of blocks for example those that are added by mods?

Why does the model keep disappearing? Blender 3.6. one of those "nothing I do works" scenarios.

Check your blender version… if it's not 3.5, then that's the issue. Cause I had that issue since I was using 3.3

Wondering if it's possible for this to only output the outer layer as a single "pixelated" mesh?
Thought about just selecting all of the external faces, and that might work, but before I go all-in I thought I'd ask.
Essentially, just looking for a way to pixelate an object, but with the ability to control the exact size of the output. Your tool has the sizing down, but I end up with all of the internal blocks. The standard remesh modifier, in block mode, does what I need it to, in terms of creating a "pixelated shell", but the grid sizing is all relative, and there is a weird offset that happens and seems uncontrollable.
Your videos have helped me a lot over the last few years, and have changed the way I use blender. Thank you!

So, for anyone searching for an answer in the meantime...
I wanted to get 16x16 and 32x32 "blocky spheres". I pulled up the add-on and the only setting that I changed was to set the block size to .0625 (which is 1 / 16). With a sphere that is 2x2x2m this results in a 32x32 blocky-sphere, and for a 1x1x1m sphere this gets you a 16x16 blocky-sphere.
To isolate the outsize faces and create the "shell", I went into edit mode, face selection mode, and just used the num pad to go into front/back/left/right/top/bottom orthographic view and made a selection around all of the faces I could see from each view (make sure that you do NOT have X-ray on, or you will just select everything inside as well) holding shift for each selection to combine then. After all angles selected Press P to Separate > Separate by selection.
I seemed to have some difficulty selecting the bottom faces each time, I don't know why, but be careful there I guess?
This puts the selected parts into a separate object. You can deselect everything, then select the old inside parts and delete them.
Last step is to select the new "shell", go into edit mode, vertex select mode and press A to select all. Press m to Merge > Merge by distance. This will put all of the overlapping vertices back together.
This tool makes much better blocky-spheres than remesh, and with much more accuracy, and that's just aside from how awesome the minecraft implementations are.

Hi! I am using Blender 3.5, and I downloaded the FREE version of your BlockBlender to test it, and when trying to test it the textures of the blocks are not visible (my model with textures is voxelized but the blocks that are generated are gray, as if they had the program's default color) How could I solve it?

you're probably in the same boat I was...near the top right of your main window, you'll see 4 circles. Those are your view options. By default, the 2nd one is selected, which only shows you solids. The 3rd one from the left is Material Preview, which will show you the textures, and the 4th is Rendered, which will show you the final render quality. Took me more googling than I'd like to admit to find it, haha!

I've bought this but I'm somewhat disappointed at what I got. The objects look poorly converted, colors aren't good, and it's as if the addon isn't really using the blocks you claim it should use.. I've tried objtoschematic.com for free and it seems to do a much better job than your addon. So either I am not using it properly, or your addong leaves a lot to be desired..
