I've only heard 'You're Pushing Too Hard' by The Seeds but I've never clapped eyes on a record by them - very generous gift from Steve. Nice Ace comp too - I saw a big CD of Ace stuff in Oxfam a while back but I didn't pick it up. I have that Brinsley LP, it's a nice listen. I finally streamed Surrealistic Pillow last year ( I think) and really enjoyed it. On the look-out for a copy now though not holding my breath. 'Wild Honey's is also elusive. Cheers Rob, take 2 was the keeper!🤣

      Hi James
Definitely reccomend The Seeds Web of Sound. Great fun listen.

Hey Rob. I’m familiar with Keith Christmas as a name, but have never heard him, interesting. Great Manzanera album, always pick up his solos. Pail Thompson is one of the greatest unheralded drummers. Very nice double Procol package, they’re essential albums. I only got that Jefferson album finally in the last year or so. Great find from the big pink. Cheers.

      Hi Jack.
The Keith Christmas is a lovely record, really pleased to pick that up.
Yep, looking forward to diving into the Manzanera, very underrated guitar player imo.
      Thanks for stopping by. ✋

Hi Rob, nice bit of VCLT. Never heard any Keith Christmas. I’m currently pruning my collection which will be going to Oxfam, so I know what you are going through. Have to make room for 2024 finds. Have a good weekend.

      Hi Steve
      Definitely reccomend the Keith Christmas.
Good luck with the ' pruning '.
      Many Thanks

It’s frustrating when there are upload problems with either your phone or RUclips itself. I uploaded a video recently and then found that only about a third had in fact uploaded and I had to start all over again. Oh, the pain of being a VC member 😂
Night of the Vampire is a masterpiece and one I don’t have in my Joe Meek collection.
Implosion looks appealing, especially when you mentioned the magic Canterbury word!
Lovely gift from Steve. Nothing to dislike about the Seeds.
    Take care, John.

My uploading woes seem to be getting worse as time goes by! .
      Implosion is an interesting albeit
' low fi' listen..think you may enjoy it.
      All the best.

Hi Rob, you used your shop credit well. The Keith Christmas looked nice on the B&C label. I nearly bought that Procol Harum two-fer on my last shop dig but condition was a bit rough unfortunately. I'm definitely still aiming to have albums more going out than coming in this year. Cheers Dale

Yes, my mantra this year will definitely be quality over quantity ...hopefully .

Hi Rob. That Brinsley Schwarz comp was my introduction to the band. They had so much talent. Ian Gomm often gets overlooked because of Nick Lowe's presence.

      Hi Carl
The Brinsley Schwartz was definitely a fun listen, but I still prefer Nick Lowe solo and
      Rockpile.

@@robison5396 I just dug out my copy of Ian Gomm's 'Summer Holiday'. It comes in a great gatefold sleeve. You can hear how much of an influence Ian Gomm was on Elvis Costello.

Hi Rob - didn't know the Implosion name , looks like quite a rare release , I have the same book as Pete , so looked them up and will check out . Most things with Simon Phillips are worth checking out and I like the 801 Live Manzanera project . Like you will be purging this year , the credit deal sounds a good idea , and say it quietly but I 've been buying some CD's of late on some of the really obscure stuff where chances of getting decent priced vinyl are virtually zero whereas I can get a CD for great price .

      Thanks Graham
Implosion appear to be quite ' low fi' judging by that album, but the music itself is decent.
Yes, if you have a good relationship with a local independent dealer, I think store credit is the way to go when purging.
Hope you're keeping well and thanks for checking in as always.

Lovely VCLT from Stephen, certainly Joe Meek was out there in his eccentricities I was talking to John Baggy Hi-fi about him and the film well worth a watch if you can catch it.
You see now I'm wondering what you culled and why always a fascinating nose, peek into some explanations but alas too late now.

      Hi Martin
There was nothing particularly interesting in what I purged, most were quite common titles or ones where I have upgraded to better copies..I did think about a flip style video to show them but didn't think it would be that interesting.

    • @Thevinylscavenger
      @Thevinylscavenger 10 месяцев назад +1

@@robison5396 it'd be interesting to me 😂 maybe no one else but some accompanying reasonings. Fair enough if they were upgraded that's just logical.

The Manzanera album is great. Funny that you showed the album with "Shining Brightly" (the only Brinsley Schwarz song I think I've ever heard) back to back with Shine On Brightly. Surrealistic Pillow is the only Jefferson Airplane album I don't have on vinyl. Also holding out for a decent earlier copy.

    • @robison5396
      @robison5396  10 месяцев назад

Cheers Michael and HNY to you!.
I wanted a better copy of Surrealistic Pillow too, but this was a compromise until I can find a better one, such a great record, ridiculous I haven't owned it before.

Hi Rob. Implosion - now there's an Italian prog band that I'd not heard of. After watching your video I looked them up in A Fistful of Spaghetti (the Freeman brothers Italian prog book) where they are described as a hybrid of Ashra, Suicide and Din A Testbild. So I gave their first album a listen on RUclips - thought the songs themselves were not bad, with decent vocals and guitar playing, but I wasn't so keen on the 80's synths and electronic percussion, plus the production seemed very thin. So overall not one for me unfortunately, though thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Lots of other good stuff that you've picked up though. Been looking out for some Brinsley Schwarz albums for a long time, but I don't think I've ever actually seen one in the wild. I'm trying myself to get the Beach Boys albums released after Pet Sounds and up to (and including) Holland - an underrated period I think.
Used to see Synergy albums all the time at very cheap prices - picked up half-a-dozen years ago for around £2-£5 - don't seem to see them as much now.
Nice VCLT of the Seeds album - love Up In Her Room. Were still a great band when I saw them in Manchester in the early 2000s.
    Cheers... Pete

No worries with Implosion, we can't like everything..I know what you mean about the slightly 80s production and it is a bit ' low fi'.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂.

Generous VCLT from Steve there, Rob. 'Night Of The Vampire' is a classic. I still don't own a copy of Surrealistic Pillow on record myself. I like the idea of an original US mono and perhaps an original UK copy; though the UK version has no Plastic Fantastic Lover, White Rabbit & She Has Funny Cars, (replaced with two tracks from 'Takes Off'). But there is something special about those old UK releases from the time.
It sounds like doing a trade now and then is going to be good for your wallet as well as providing the much needed vinyl fix. It almost feels like you're getting them for nothing, too. A win win.

Trimming back a collection is not easy. I have been working on that as I pack up records, do I really need to have that. Very difficult to do. You still found a lot of stuff to put back in the collection lol. That is the only Jefferson Airplane that I need.

Not too bad a task really, duplicates and stuff I haven't listened to for years...in terms of keeping these records, you have to ask yourself why.
