The contrast between De Niro's incredible acting on screen and his shy, reserved nature in real life is fascinating to me.
Always been one of my favorite actors. I've noticed that too about him... I look at it as him being humble/modest regarding his work and his projects. He lets it stand for him without talking it up, no need to if it's that good and it's De Niro so of course it's good.

Goodfellas is one of those movies that's interesting every time you can watch it a million times and still like it every time. All the characters and Goodfellas are great. Martin Scorsese had a certain direction for each character and he made it believable. The violence ain't that bad cuz you get used to it in the movie. It's just a really authentic movie. I think every character is great Joe pesci's character probably is one of the most brutal characters but I think all the characters are great that's because of how great the director is and we know who directed the movie.
I haven't see that movie, neither star wars or Shawshank redemption , but imma look into them

Of all the movies he has done, I think Casino was his best performance. He plays Lefty Rosenthal. I can watch that movie for the 50th time and am still amazed at how well he played that role.
Yes, indeed! Years ago, I only saw one clip, it got me and I bought the movie. I don't gamble but I loved what goes on the inside of rigged gambling (wherever it may be). My favorite film in my collection

@@sam-ACE-rothstein DeNiro's character, Sam Rothstein was based on the life of Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal. Tony Spilotro was played Joe Pesci and his character in the movie was Nicky Santoro.
De Niro's best acting of all his movies could be "Raging Bull" what a movie, & acting job by him. I believe he won the best actor for that performance. It seems nobody mentions that movie & it boggles my mind. Joe Pesci played his brother & was excellent.

He is just trying to deflect away from it and make this interview about the Festival and not be seen to know 1000 things about Ray. He is a true old school pro. He knew Ray before Goodfellas its a fact. Pictures of them eating out together etc long after it these guys invest in movies they might not direct or produce but behind the scenes they are involved together.

Love Robert De Niro! It’s wonderful that Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal have worked together for decades and created so many projects. I love and respect that. What Robert De Niro has done with film is remarkable and I’m so glad I get to enjoy his work, of which many are masterpieces. Wish I was at Tribeca with the cast of Heat. Would love to hear more about their perspective on the film at this time. Heat is my favorite film.

It's funny how we assume the relationships actors have in films is the same that they have in real life. As tragic as Ray Liotta's passing was, De Niro simply really didn't know him that well probably outside of the time on Goodfellas. Maybe that's a testimonial to the quality of their acting, because you imagine all of those guys De Niro, Pesci, Liotta, and Sorvino as close buds.
That isn't true not a year went by without them trying to collaborate on something they had dinner together with others all the time don't believe this Bob is just trying to let it go which is fair.
To me robert de niro is a brilliant actor 👏

@Frank Lopez He just doesn't impress me much...and by the way...I DO own some of his movies but I only was halfway interested in them because of the OTHER ACTORS.
Someone else said it, but I love how far removed De Niro is from the characters he plays. Goodfellas, Heat, Midnight Run, Casino, A Bronx Tale, The Score, Cop Land, Backdraft, the man has given us so many great films you can watch over and over, I wish he'd do more interviews but I respect his privacy and that's its not part of his personality.
What about young Vito Corleone, and mad man in Taxi Driver. Epic classics, Raging Bull too.

The Mission, an incredible movie. His performance in that movie was amazing, along with Jeremy Irons. A long movie, the soundtrack alone will move you to tears.
Been watching his movie Awakenings for the last week. I love it. He should have won the Academy Award for that movie.

Ray has said in several interviews that Bob was very in the role and distant as his character was with Ray's character. He has said he was closer with Joe Pesci as they had more screen time together and spent more time together. He also thought Joe was very funny. Sly Stallone too lol
